@Sthrngary Do you think if you were to cruise on NCL and pay for the drinks delivered, drinks in the mini-bar, and the nickel and dime items would that add up to the price of Oceania? I do understand that the nickel and diming can be annoying but if what you spend doesn't equal the cost of a line that has more inclusive pricing it could be consider a la carte. Just a thought!

@Girr Hello, I am this Author of this Crazy Long Stream. I wanted to comment. The reason why I post almost exclusively on CruiseCritic.com is because most members allow for different opinions. Especially on concepts like "A Ship-With-A-Ship" VIP sections like the NCL Haven and Celebrity Retreat. This includes type of Suite or Stateroom. When I have posted on another Social Media Site, I am trolled and ridiculed for my choices. Here on CruiseCritic.com, folks might not agree however they are always very kind with the responses.
Well put and could not agree more! My spouse and I often work 60+ plus hours a week and when we cruise we tend to go in a higher end suite as that might be the only time off we can get for a while and its nice to have the space and the all included aspect but when trying to get different perspectives on other social media sites you do often get overall negative comments that do not relate to cruising. Appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions!

Because you shouldn't be booking that room because of the perks. It's all about the space and balconies! (Some say they aren't useful, but we got plenty of use out of them in ports and embarkation)
IMO it’s 80/20 I think you should book it for the room (80) but as the price point jumps significantly I think so should the perks(20). I was just on celebrity in an Edge Villa and I totally booked it for the two story room with plunge pool but it was nice that at that price point you got a full mini bar with wine, beer, and liquor plus unlimited speciality dining. I’m really looking forward to trying NCL and the Haven and no matter what I’m on a ship in the ocean and you can’t beat that!! Also, thank you for the feedback on the balcony I was concerned about the wind issue so it’s good to know there are plenty of times to still get good use!

With all perks being the same in the Haven except the free alcohol in room I don’t see why anyone would pay for the deluxe owners suite at the ase current prices. I would think at what they are wanting to charge currently there would be an added incentive to book.

I have FASUPST code in my invoice. I see above that FASUPS is “free at sea plus with streaming internet anyone know what the add T is for?

Has anyone recently been on NCL Breakaway cruising out of New Orleans? Or any cruise out of New Orleans? How was the vibe?

I guess I’m the odd man out. I think this sounds fun. I’ll be checking it out in January.
I also think this could be fun

@Cruzin64647 The video link will give you all the amenities of the H2 Deluxe Owners Suite. The difference is the video is for the NCL Joy. I wrote this op-ed, so when I did the video I attempted to differentiate Haven and Owners Suite amenities. I am also going to attach a excel that shows amenities SOME of which might have changed. I hope the information provided helps you.
Cruise well and enjoy every moment.

Never again would we book that cabin. While some may say there are wind buffers on the balcony and the side balcony is always useable, that wasn't our experience. We found all the balconies to be unuseable anytime the ship was under way. Didn't matter if we were travelling south or travelling north. Unuseable due to strong winds.
Twice crew entered our cabin to tie all the furniture down on the balcony to prevent if from being blown over board. They even did this one night while we were sleeping.
We sailed Breakaway again last March in an Aft Haven Penthouse. Great cabin.
Our next Breakaway+, we've booked a two bedroom Haven.
Seriously, other than the larger room, the other amenities like the included bar are peanuts. Pay for them out of pocket and get a room with a balcony you can use.
This was our experience. Your Mileage May Vary.
5 hours ago, Girr said:I’ve sailed in DOSs many time, and the only “official” difference is the three bottles of alcohol, soda/water and usually a better bottle in the chiller. With that said, with the beverage package we normally end up giving the bottles away. On Jewel class ships there’s a reserved seating area in the theater, but the seating area isn’t good. Pre-Covid we normally got bridge tours and other little special treatment, but those days are gone.

Thank you for all of the responses! My last few cruises were on Celebrity which has retreat and then what I would call a retreat+ depending on your suite category and was curious if it was the same!

I have read through most posts so sorry if I missed this but my question is other then the included Mini bar and size of the room is there any other perks to upgrading to the the Deluxe Owners Suite with Large Balcony? (Looking at Breakaway departing New Orleans) Thanks in advance

My husband and I will be on this cruise anyone else??

Just off of a recent trip on Apex in a villa and had a fantastic time!! I just find it a little silly that at the current price of upper suites you have to pay an additional 5 dollars for speciality cocktails at Eden and a few other places.

I am trying to decide the same thing for our group of 4. We are in suites but wondering if it will be hard to find 4 loungers near each other for a sea day.
I was wondering if I could reserve it pre-cruise for the last day and cancel and get our ship credit back when we board if the retreat has good availability on the first couple days.
Yea I was just looking for my group I would have to get 2 and they look to be separated so it defeats the purpose of being together

FWIW...cabanas are a max of 4 people. I wouldn't nearly double the capacity and expect the attendant to serve everyone.
Good point!

The Retreat is for suites only. If the 7 of you are all in suites, I would definitely try to get together in The Retreat since it is included. You can always rent a cabana if you can't find good spaces in The Retreat.
Ok perfect we are all in suites and was not sure If cabanas were available last min! Thx You!
-
I am going with a group of 7 and am trying to decided if we can all find space together on the retreat sundeck or if the cabana would be a better spot to all be together?
-
Celebrity’s premium beverage package now lists the kettle spritz hard seltzer's. Anyone see them onboard?
-
It almost seems better if you need a 4 person cabana to book 2 of the smaller cabanas same price but then you would get 2 bottles of Grey Goose

Trying to get a refund for cruise due to X Covid policy. Would like to hear from anyone who tried this? How long did it take?
We tested positive the Thursday before the cruise which was Aug 11th. My excellent TA called that day full refund on Amex Aug 23 which was 3 days after our cancelled cruise ended.

Also great information

On the theme of nickel and diming, we were told that Gelato costs extra for passengers, except frequent cruisers of a certain level get one scoop for free. That is the epitome of nickel and diming when otherwise all alcohol and other basic food is included. We were also marketed a wine corkscrew in Luminae just after our food arrived and we clearly were not drinking wine. That smacked of desperation for revenue. And, perhaps not to the liking of some on this board, X needs a private beach destination for at least some of its Caribbean cruises. Many of the ports of call have lackluster beaches and all or most of the other cruise lines have some type of private beach. It doesn't need to be theme park, but something with a nice place to sun, exercise, etc. would put X on par with competitors. We didn't mind that X takes the position that the entire ship is nice enough that Retreat passengers are not expected to spend every moment in the Retreat areas, but the price to experience ratio seems as if it needs adjustment or there needs to be better and more Retreat only perks that don't relate to F&B or offers that make one question what the cost is for in the first place (e.g., paying thousands to be offered gelato at a price per scoop).
What kind of suite were you in?

I don’t know if this would work for you but my boss had a good experience with it. Just google Dialysis at Sea. Since I can’t post a link
