  1. We're in the same boat in May on the Reflection...i would warn you that from what i read don't assume your daughter will be able to join you every night in Luminae as it's only on an availabilty basis...you'd think since we are both paying double for our daughters cabin that they would make a concession...or at least let her eat in Luminae no charge:)..

She could eat in Luminae for no charge if she were staying in a suite. What's the incentive for people to pay for suite class if there were tons of loopholes to get the amenities for free? There have been reports that minor children staying in their own cabin have been able to eat with their parents in Luminae but once kids become adults, they're subject to the rules that everyone else has to follow.

Good point about guest dining being on a space-available basis. It's not a guarantee that they'll be able to accommodate guests every night.

I've got no problem paying when she is able to join us in Luminae and I guess I wasn't clear in my OP when I said when "able" because I realized it was as available. We tend to be early diners and several times in the past have had dinner there right at 6 when they open. Usually there appeared to be plenty of room at that time for one guest, but we'll see how it works out.

  2. I believe we will have an abundance of On Board Credit for our upcoming 5 day out of San Juan. Normally we tip out cash over and above the standard pre-paid gratuities included with our "Go Best" perks. What is the process for using our OBC to tip certain staff? Is it all done at the front desk, can it be done with Michael's Concierge? Do staff even know we've done it?

  3. We are in a suite coming up in a month and we are taking our 23 year old daughter along who will be in a veranda cabin solo. We plan to have her join us as able in Luminae for dinner and we began to wonder if she would be allowed as a guest to join us in Michael's. She will have a premium drink package which I doubt will make a difference, but since there is no cost for drinks in the club I figured I'd mention it.

  4. Wondering is someone has come off, or will be coming off in the next few weeks and can tell me who some of the staff are that are currently in Luminae. We have several that we have enjoyed on our last cruise and were wondering if we'll see any familiar faces.

  5. We're getting ready to book the Sky suite for a TA. Just wanted to confirm a couple of things as different places seem to give different answers. What's the difference between Sky 1 & 2? Do both have access to Michaels Club? Do you get the free drinks in Michaels if booked in Sky?

    thanks

Location and view are the only differences that I know of. As of 1/1/16 all suites, now including any Sky level, have access to Michaels and all drinks there are free.

  6. Not sure what level suite you're looking at, but as someone else posted, the sky suite will be less of an upcharge and give you all the extra's that come with all of the suites. As for the debate of lunch in Luminea on port days, it took us 3 days to learn this, but suite guests can eat for free in Bistro on 5 on port days since Luminea is not open. We did this twice and while it was not the same, we enjoyed it. We stretched our budget to a suite a couple weeks ago and really enjoyed it. We booked a 2 more trips and while I would love to experience a Celebrity or Royal, I'm content with the Sky because I can probably handle that level a lot more times than a "once in a lifetime" upgrade to something else. I realize I may not be answering your original question, but the other thing to understand is while the price difference is a lot, you are also comparing a 7 and 12 day trip. If it is really something you can only afford to do one time, but you can afford the 12 day trip then do it. You'll have 5 more days of enjoyment! If you do it on the 7 day trip and save some $ so you can maybe afford to upgrade again on your next 7 day trip I'd do that instead.

  7. So good to hear your good review - I just booked for RT San Juan 2018 (the earlier the better in my book;) ) What was your itinerary? I've not been to the Southern Caribbean so am looking forward to some new ports.... I've been to San Juan several times and love it.

This itinerary was San Juan, Tortola, Sea day, Dominica, Martinique, St Kitts, St Thomas, San Juan.

We are on the Summit 3.24.18 again. What did you book?

  8. We were also on the 3/26 sailing and thought the trip was great! We had a sky suite so we may not have experienced some out the original poster's experiences, but our dining experience in Luminae was outstanding and if we wanted to look at very small things I could find some age showing. However nothing in our room looked worn or old, the decks were clean, the theater seemed up to date, Luminae was a highlight and Michaels club had an "old school traditional club" feel yet not worn in it's furnishings. Now, if I would have sensed a sewage odor I would have been put off, but we didn't experience that.

We embarked around 3:00 after arriving on Saturday and walked right on with no lines at all. Debarking was very smooth, but as a suite guest we by passed a long line and many of us (we were escorted as a group) commented that missing that line was worth the extra cost right there. Only complaint had nothing to do with Celebrity, but we had a 3:00PM departure and we could not go through security at the airport until 4 hours before departure so we had to wait by the ticket counter for 2 1/2 hours and there are no benches or chairs in that area of the airport. Next time we'll do an excursion with airport drop off, or book a hotel and return the next day.

Overall, we enjoyed it so much, the service, the size of the ship, and the amenities, we booked two more cruises for spring break in 2017 and 2018. Can't wait to go back!

  9. We were on the 3/26 cruise and watched the NCAA tournament up there one night. Very nice, waiter service and not many people. TV signal was a little sketchy but I'm sure things were great for movies. Plenty of seats, but more loungers than any upright chairs. They show 2 movies a night, we didn't go to any, but here are 3 photos I took. The night one is of the basketball game, the other two I took on the last day. It had just rained so the deck was wet. As you can see in the last photo, the screen was operating in the middle of the day, not sure what they show, but there was always something on when we walked through
