    I’ve had a response from Maleth Areo within an hour of contacting them confirming;

    23 kg hold baggage

10 kg cabin baggage ( no dimensions) but suspect the usual size applys. I’m happy with that and the swift response.

This is the response I got from Maleth too regarding luggage.

The only thing not stated which I did ask was can we bring a cabin case + a backpack/ handbag for under the seat. If anyone knows this I'll be very grateful, usually I only take a backpack however, I have a few books to pack as extras for this flight which I don't want to carry in my bag.

  2. Hi,

sailing our first P&O Caribbean cruise soon, we fly into Barbados and aren’t going into the USA.
I looked online and saw there is a form to fill out to enter Barbados, is this something I need to do online or is this something P&O sort?

Usually I sail out of Florida so this is all new to me.
    Thanks.

I'd phone up as we were able to book ours 14 weeks before the flight. We are with TUI though so not sure what is happening to those on other air line.

Thank you. We're definitely flying Maleth, but cannot get any other information or seat booking to work. I've sent P&O a message and will try calling. Thanks.

  4. We're sailing our first P&O Caribbean cruise and I can't find any flight information on my booking.

We sail in 8 weeks time and my planner just says 'Your flight details are not yet available.' I just assumed it would come up as the Maleth Aero as that seems like the flight we'd probably be on. I really just wanted to check out the seat planner, I try to log onto that from the link further down the page but, that just tells me seat booking opens 14 weeks prior.

    Any help appreciated. Thanks.

EDIT; I can see our flight number. But still no way to book seats?

Yes… Virgin PE outbound, Economy delight back, and 2 nights hotel in Fort Lauderdale £1000 cheaper than P&O

That's crazy! We just priced up a trip with Royal + Celebrity (7nt cruise) with economy BA or Virgin flights, with 1 night pre cruise hotel in Ft Lauderdale and it came up £1k more expensive than 2 weeks with P&O. You got a good deal there!!

  6. We've just switched from Royal Caribbean to P&O.

I love Royal, however, the itinerary's for the Caribbean are repetitive once you've sailed with them to the Caribbean a few times and like most cruise lines they've also been cost cutting.

Upon pricing winter cruises, P&O came up considerably cheaper with far better itinerary's.

Our TA added up the cost of a Royal/ Celebrity Cruise + Hotel + Flights + Gratuities + Transport between MIA  airport -> Ft Lauderdale hotel and it was £1k more for a 1 week trip, than the 2 weeks we've got with P&O.

It will be an interesting switch for sure. I'm looking forward to seeing the differences between the cruise lines and ofc will miss Royal Caribbean, but I just can't justify their prices at the moment.

  7. @Interestedcruisefan Thank you for all of that information, it has been very helpful! We won't be travelling with children so don't have to worry about eating at times to suit them or anything.

Ideally we'd like to fly in the day before, that is the aim. However, with work I just don't think I'll be able to get it off which means we'd be stuck flying the day of.

@Megabear2 Thank you for your help too! That's actually very reassuring if we did have to fly the day of.

  8. Hi,

I'm looking into sailing P&O for the first time this December to the Caribbean.

I've cruised before and have always flown in the day before, however, I see P&O have the option to fly in the day of... Has anyone done this before? Assuming as it's all through P&O if the flight is delayed and the ship leaves they sort you out??

I've also seen the flights from London is with a lesser known airline, therefore I'd probably switch and pay the difference to fly from Birmingham. Would this more likely be with TUI?

My last question is, with the saver fare you can't choose your dining time.. What are the dining time options? I'm guessing like most cruise lines it's 5.30/6pm or 8ish?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello everyone,

I'm going to be arriving on the Ovation of the Seas in Skagway on June 12th, 2023.  I'm planning to book the White pass summit rail & Yukon Suspension Bridge excursion from a local company. This excursion starts with the train first and the depart time is 7:30 am.   Our ship dock schedule is 7:00 am.   With the rockslide being repair/construction and alternatives like the tendering.   Do you think excursion departure at 7:30 am is doable with the ship docking at 7:00am.  Keep in mind I'm booking this from a local company not from the ship.   Thank you

We are in the same situation as you on this cruise! We've booked Chilkoot Charters tour and are worried about getting off the ship in time!

Seems like we'll hear more information the first week of May when more ships are in port and using the Railway Dock to see what is happening.... Not sure what Royal's protocol would be in terms to letting non-royal based excursions off early as we'd have to be off asap too.

Wi-Fi is good in Juneau, Sitka, and Victoria.  Skagway - don't even try.  Cell service is also dismal in Skagway unless they've improved it post-Covid.  Easiest way to get Wi-Fi in Alaska is to go into a bar and order a drink, even a coke, and they'll give you the Wi-Fi password.

Thanks for this info! Juneau + Victoria are the places Wi-Fi would be ideal, will happily purchase a drink to just be able to check in at home and to make sure our flight home is all good.

Just WOW! Was this a ship excursion and what type of boat were you on for this excursion?

  12. We are debating between a cruise excursion to Tracy Arm Fjords or something else. The excursion is very expensive (for us) and are debating whether we go for it as we may never go again or if anyone has any other recommendations. Originally we were thinking just doing Mendenhall Glacier but really like the look of Tracy Arm Fjords.

I've had a look for independent excursions but have only come across 1 which is not in line with our docking time. (12pm-10pm)

Any help and advice is welcome!!

    Other help.... Wifi.

How available is wifi in Juneau, Skagway, Sitka + Victoria? Coming from overseas so using data isn't included in our phone package except for an extra charge. Literally just want to check in all is ok at home so nothing major.

    Thanks.

  13. Hi,

A family I help are taking their first ever cruise on the Disney Dream. They booked in for the 6pm dining option, however, just received an e-mail from Disney saying it's now fully booked and they've been moved to 8.30pm, this isn't ideal as they are travelling with young children who won't cope with a late dinner/ later evening, is there anyway they can change this via e-mail or once on board?

I've cruised RCI and they also have a My Time option, is this something Disney also have? And if they can't get an earlier dining time are there other dining options with no additional cost except the buffet?

Thanks for any help, any information or advice is greatly appreciated!!!

Newbie that just booked an Alaska trip on the Brilliance September 3, 2023. That combined soda and internet package would be great, but I don't see it offered (as a bundle) in my paid add-on choices. Is that combo exclusive to other routes?

I'm on a June Alaska sailing, the soda + internet package combo has only just come up on my added extras about 2 weeks ago so it might randomly appear for you.

The Drinks package is showing up as £92.45 on board price on my sailing ... Works out about $112 I think per day! Currently with 15% off £78.58 to buy online now. They can keep their package at that price!!!

  15. Thank you all for the replies.

We went ahead and booked the 6.5hr tour, by far the best price we've found for what it offers, great TripAdvisor reviews and wonderful communication by the company.

We e-mailed them before booking and the tour would usually go at 9.30am but they have put the 8.30am tour on to accommodate those ships leaving at 5pm on this specific day.

If anyone else is interested or has questions don't hesitate to e-mail Chilkoot, they are quick to respond.

We did this tour earlier this year with Southeast Tours. The bus tours are pretty much the same across all the providers. I highly recommend it. The scenery on the US side is great, but the scenery in BC and the Yukon is even better.

We took the Skagway city shuttle into town to the tour's meeting place, Yukon Heath's Popcorn Emporium (yes, the tour company and the popcorn store are under the same umbrella). We were the first ship in town, and the town looked DEAD at 8:00 am. We got out of town around 8:30 or so, made several stops, and had lunch at Caribou Crossing trading post. Our group had both people that paid for the dogsled rides and people that didn't. We made some more stops on the way back, and made it back to town around 3:30 pm. Our driver was supposed to take us back to the popcorn place, but he took us to the dock instead, since most of us were leaving at the same time and we were running a little behind their schedule.

We didn't walk around downtown Skagway. The driver did show us things in town on the way in and out. Our driver lives there year-round, and was very knowledgeable.

As long as you get back around 3:30, you should be fine.

Thanks for this great information. I will have a look at Southeast tours too, sounds like you had a wonderful time.

  17. This is our first trip to Alaska and we were recommended this bus tour via CC. We love the idea of it, however, a little concerned that it's 6.5hrs long it would leave at 8.30am to return roughly around 3-3.30pm. Our set sail time is 5pm, all aboard I assume will be 4.30pm.

Has anyone done this tour before and time wise was it accurate? How long are stops at the museums, photo stops, lunch etc?

It's either this tour or one via the cruise line which is half the time, the same cost and you see alot less.

    Thanks for any help.
