We leave Sunday on the Freedom. My 12 year old daughter broke her humerus (shoulder) in January. She had surgery, pins, etc, but is now "healed". However her orthopedist suggested no ice skating due to risk of rebreaking it since it is still healing. I never thought about the Flowrider.
How much do you get thrown around is my question? How rough can her landing be? Have you ever seen anyone injured?
Thinking I might have to try it myself. :D
Thanks!
Depends on if she is doing stand up or body boarding. When you are just learning, you can fall pretty hard on stand up. Body boarding tends to be more forgiving but as Bob said, it is no sure thing. My suggestion would be to keep her to body boarding and you might be all right but again I am definitely not a doctor.

If this is your first time flowriding, be prepared, it's some what of an addiction. :)

That's the worst comparison I've ever read, congrats.

You are correct. It was meant to be an intentionally stupid comment. I was keeping in line to the comment I was replying to.

Oasis class are our favorite ships. Good thing they have different types of ships for different types of people.

Anyone know what size bottles of wine are allowed?
750 ml

Why is it so important to cheat on the rules. IMO you cheat on one rule you will cheat on others. Evidence of the "ME" attitude. I will do what I want, screw the rules.
So you are one of those kind of people :). So all rules should be followed blindly no matter what because they are rules? There's a few dictatorships in power for those reasons :D

Going to resurrect this thread because more people should be talking about the flowrider :)

I always bring some high end rum with me because royals selection of rum sucks. Doesn't stop us from having a $300-$500 bar tab at the end of the cruise.
-
I use the the free insurance offered on my chase sapphire preferred card. It just doesn't cover pre-existing conditions but we're still in our 30's so not a big deal for us.

Loving the review! Will be on Liberty in 3 weeks. I actually love both Whataburger & In-N-Out. I can have Whataburger anytime I want, though. I have to drive to Dallas to get In-N-Out. So, it's more of a treat. Can't wait to hear more!
Was mostly said in jest. I have some friends who are "die hard" Texans and everything from Texas is always better than from anywhere else.

Just because I am a transplanted Floridian in Texas, I want to throw fuel on the Whataburger fire. In and Out Burger > Whataburger. Looking forward to the rest of the review. We will be on Liberty for the 3rd time in 31 days.

Crystal does style itself as a high-end luxury line, and using that as a reference for what's acceptable for a general-holiday line is a bit inappropriate.
If that is what is important to them and if that's how they feel others should dress on the cruise, then they just need to go cruise Crystal.

I can pull up the Royal Caribbean site but when I start to book a cruise (fill in the details and click on search), I get the secure RCCL URL address with a blank white screen. I have tried to refresh multiple times to no avail. This happened last night as well, so I just thought the site was overloaded. But it's the same problem tonight.
I have tried clicking on many links on their site (book now for 30% off; cruises to Europe, etc) and the same white screen appears.
Is anyone else having these issues?
If I use internet explorer, instead of my normal chrome, I don't get the white screen. Chrome gives me the white screen.

Trying being a rum drinker. Royal's selection of rum choices is pathetic. Their absolute top shelf, is Bacardi 8 year.

Yes
Damn. Ok thanks, was hoping they'd bring an Oasis class to Galveston.
-
I called in and booked Majesty for June 18, 2018 and Liberty for April 21, 2019. Oasis was also available. These ships were the only ones I inquired about. None of these are showing on Royal's website. She said they were just released a few minutes before I called. I called at 6:30.
Was liberty still in Galveston?

I will start wearing what you want me to wear to the MDR when you start paying for my cruise. That being said I usually dress in dressier jeans and a button down with dress shoes for dinner, even formal nights. I wear suit and tie 5 days a week, I refuse to wear it on vacation. Similar to this below.

Really wish they would get off their ass and release the rest of their itineraries.
-
Personally, I would always go for the longer cruise over the shorter, 5 days isn't enough for us.

To elaborate on what has been said, answers to standard questions are:
No, you can not trade CP EDP perks for Boardwalk perks or vice-versa.
No, there is no reduction in price to upgrade the Boardwalk soda package for a more expensive beverage package.
The Boardwalk soda plan goes to passengers 1 & 2 and cannot be transferred to passengers 3 & 4 if you have that many in cabin. If you have adults who want a booze package and have kids who want the sodas plan accordingly.
The Boardwalk meal for up to 4 at Johnny Rockets applies only to passengers in the cabin. We had a friend in a Boardwalk cabin solo - she got a meal for one ONLY.
As with anything on RCI there may be variations in application of rules.
We had a Central Park balcony in Jan-Feb 2017 on Oasis, got our CP perk of a bottle of wine without asking and enjoyed our Giovanni lunch. No complaints from me.
We were able to let some friends who traveled with us use the Johnny Rockets meal instead of us.

I also think snowboarding is closer to it.....as a snowboarder I had no problem standing up on a first try and holding on for little bit before I wiped out lol
Personally, I would say it's a mix between snowboarding and skateboarding.

We always stay at the Hilton NASA and it's usually around $100 a night.

They don't use the rope off the front padding because it's very damaging to the padding. Flowrider charges a lot of money to replace them. I'm friends with one of the owners of one that is local to me.

The reward amount on the cruise cc's are pretty bad. I would suggest looking at the capital one venture card, it's one of the best cc's for travel. It has no foreign transaction fees.
Best ship for flow rider?
in Royal Caribbean International

On the other ships, they alternate between stand up and body boarding, so you get less time, unless he does both. The water flow of the flowrider is stronger on the freedom class ships than on the the oasis class. I would suggest you stop being a widow and become a rider :) its way more fun. We switched from carnival to royal specifically because of the flowrider.
