This is more and more support for a vaccine being required to board when it's available. For those people who want to argue that if I'm vaccinated what do I care if someone else isn't - answer being this. If one covid case gets onboard, my vacation is over, whether or not I had the vaccine. The cruise lines won't have another choice.
Good point, because no vaccine is 100% effective. 90-95% sounds great to us, but the CDC sees 90-95% as a 5-10% chance someone could be affected on the cruise.

Plus, i also just signed for an all-inclusive timeshare at 2 weeks per year. So even when (if) we set foot on a ship again, it will be less than when we used to go.
For the prices they will probably be charging, all of us will be on a cruise ship less.

Legend does not have an outdoor screen. Been on the Legend four times, biggest thing he is missing IMO. Pride has one.

Eventually. The vaccine is the best hope, IMHO
I would say that a treatment for Covid is the best hope.
If there were a proven treatment now, cruising would be in much better shape. Everyone is not going to trust a vaccine. People take cold medicines (treatments), for the flu, who have never had a flu vaccination.
Covid could be like the HIV infection where there are treatments, but not a vaccine after 35-40 years.

Panorama out of LA, May 8th, 2021. 7 nights to Mexico.

This is like Beverly Hills voting to reduce the "See the stars homes" busses. For me a Key West stop would be like a Victoria BC stop. Can take it or leave it.
KW much better stop than Victoria. I do see what you are saying, because on our Alaskan cruise, we stopped there for five hours on a Sunday night. All that was there (open), were a few street performers by the port, and a bunch of beautiful flowers.

Coves are our favorite, and we always book under Shore Excursions or Guest Services. It’s a great location and very quite. We are booked in January in 2270. It’s our favorite because there’s only one neighbor balcony.
Your faith is wayyyyyy past that of a mustard seed. If you are fifty now, you will be around 300(?) at the time of this cruise. Save that money for a Mars trip.

Is there a way to cash out your onboard credit? Because I have way more than I will use,
If you are the Panorama's May 8th sailing out of LA, stop on deck 8, where the odd number cabins are located, and yell "hey Andy".
I will be more than glad to help you get rid of some of your OBC.

100% Agree on the WH part....and from now on Everybody should be required to have Travel Insurance...No more free medivacs curtesy of the US or foreign Taxpayer( ie Coast Guards)
Not disagreeing with you but, if true (mandatory travel insurance), these insurance companies may charge 2-3 times what they normally would be charging.
$200-$300pp for your next cruise?

The big one is "needing to be on a Carnival excursion" to get off the ship in a port.
Agreed, many times using private contractors, I've shared excursions with people who booked through the cruise lines, and ended up saving 100's of dollars.

Local news in Orlando this morning said that Carnival will be removing 18 ships from its fleet. We know what the first four are, but no word on which ships/brands make up the other 14.
If this is truly the case, having fewer ships to maintain is definitely one way of getting the burn rate to decrease.
It's in the hands of the CDC...…someone high up in this organization must have have had a baddddd cruise.

Then of course trying to get off the ship. I don’t know how many times I’ve seen the mass exodus even with using the color system. The people packed in line shoulder to shoulder waiting to get off. trying to get even 70% of capacity off in time for the crew to perform that extra clean could be a challenge.
Many times the room stewards are stripping the sheets to prepare for the next passenger before I can barely get out of the room. They should make the turn around time 4-8 hours, instead of rushing folk out of the rooms to get ready for the next boarding in a few hours..
Come to think of it, they will have to, considering the new protocols that will surely be put into place.

Given the precautions the ships sailing are taking, a cruise ship might be the safest place to be.
Agreed, but we have to pile into crowded airplanes to get to the ports.

If the CDC sees a spike in the next few weeks, my feeling that cruising is done in 2020.
If they are reliant on a vaccine to restart, I say mid 2021 to resume cruising.

MY opinion......is that the CDC has told the cruise lines ( out of public view), that there will be no cruising in the US until a treatment or vaccine is approved.

As I have said on numerous posts, nobody knows anything for sure. I would not hold my breath for a Thanksgiving cruise. Carnival has no idea and all people are talking about are law suits, crazy
This plus, having to get thousands of crew members on board, tested, quarantined, and then retested.
Throw in retrofitting the ships to new standards.
What happens if there is a breakout on board?
Will the infected passenger(s), be quarantined on ship?
Will ports want to receive those infected?
Will hospitals want to treat the infected?.
Will the cruise lines fit the bill for the passengers, or will they institute an insurance fee to cover said costs?
Will they wait for a vetted vaccine?
Lots of unanswered variables for the cruising to start anytime soon....in the US.
And the BIGGIE, who knows what the heck the CDC is going to do?
