  1. I'm so glad they made the change in the rooms that sleep 4. On the breakaway the bed is closest to the closet and when you have the Pullman down and the couch open it is impossible to get to the balcony. I'm thinking with the couch and bed switched there will be way more room and easier access to the balcony. I love a nice cup of coffee on the balcony while letting the kids sleep in a bit :)

  2. I found the info. It’s $24 for first child and $20 for additional kids. Same price even if they are there for 30 minutes!

HOLY SMOKES!!!!!! That is CRAZY! Very often my kids are tired out in the evening but want to do an hour of late night because of a fun scheduled activity. So for me to send them for just an hour would be $44.00

I don't see very many parents sending their children to late night anymore myself included.

  3. They no longer do the per hour charge for late night. Instead, there is a flat fee regardless of whether they stay 1 hour or the entire time. I can't remember how much it is, but maybe someone else can update.

They will have places where he can relax and enjoy some quiet if he wants. I would encourage you to encourage him to police himself with movies, so he can avoid or leave ones that bother him. (At age 15, my son still does this. He will read reviews and say, "I don't think I'm ready for that yet." Haha!) That said, I don't remember a lot of late night movies, but it's been a long time since my son was that age, so I might be wrong.

Wow that's crazy there is only a flat fee now! I was just on in February and it was still per hour. I have 2 kids who often do late night, some nights for only one hour ($10.00) other nights for all 3 hours ($30.00). Hopefully it's a reasonable fee would hate to pay the maximum fee for hours not used.

  4. My kids love late night and beg me to sign them up for it almost every night. It is $6.00 an hour for one child or $10.00 an hour for two children. They usually have planned activities for each night on the schedule (gaga ball, movies, wii, board games, dance parties etc.) but they will change activities depending on who signs up for late night and what the children would prefer to do.

Sorry I can't remember the exact movies they show but they are always appropriate.

    Enjoy your cruise!

  5. I once had to take an inside cabin on a CAS comped cruise because there were no more oceanviews available for CAS bookings on the cruise I wanted. My offer for that cruise was an oceanview but they had no problem letting me take the inside instead. The only thing you can do is call and ask.

A studio is still an inside room just a different category so possibly as slight fee if any at all.

  6. I use any non refundable credit left on my account as a tip for the kids club staff on the last day of the cruise. They work hard with the kids and are not part of the shared DCS (understandably so since not used by all).

I do this by going directly to splash academy and have them charge a tip to my card. The kids staff confirmed to me that they get 100% of the money if I leave it as an extra tip on the receipt and they are always very happy and grateful when I do this.

  7. Until now, I didn't think it could be used for your butler or concierge. I guess it's good news. It just confirms that they don't see a dime of it though. It's fake money. Never existed. I'm sure the cruise line doesn't come with it for them. Just like the DSC.

Not sure about the butler etc but as far as the tips from OBC to kids club they do get it 100%.

I spoke to the kids club staff about it. I was told when they charge your card for late night (they charge $6.00 per hour for late night babysitting from 10pm-1 am) they get half the fee and NCL gets half. There is a spot for additional tipping and whatever you put in that spot they get 100 % with no cut to NCL. I now always put a large tip from my OBC on that slip for them and they are all very happy when I do. So it definitely works for kids club but that is done directly with kids club, not sure how it works for butler etc when it is done through NCL...

  8. I have done this but only as additional tipping for the kids club staff. I had a bunch of NRC to use and asked if I could leave it as a tip and was told yes. I went to the kids club and they ran my ship card and I left it all as a tip. It did show as a charge on my statement and deducted from my OBC.

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful about butler etc but it did work for kid staff.

  9. Le Bistro on the Gem is my favorite! Make sure you get the Crème Brule for desert it is out of this world.

Moderno is just ehh. Salad bar is pretty good but meats are just awful, very dry and salty.

Also a pretty neat thing on the Gem is being able to observe the Bridge. Very cool. The viewing room also has some navigation/ electronics that you can observe which is pretty neat. I like that it shows you their estimated arrival (which tends to be different and more accurate than what's on the daily).

    Enjoy!

  10. I believe that depends on the ship, I was in a slot pull on the BA and the person running it had her card in and we hit a 2K jackpot, someone else with a Canadian passport claimed the prize with no issues. I do think it affected the person running it next comp though since CAS now holds wins against you and CAS’s system doesn’t look at who got the W9-G, it only looks at the cards “play”.

Also that could be argued in the casino because people leave cards in machines all the time. If I left my card in the machine and someone hit a jackpot with it I would argue with the hosts to remove it from my play history because that can be the difference in me getting a Comped room or getting a discount room. I would be emailing CAS from the ship to make sure there was a record of it.

I agree! I brought that up to the person doing the pay out how people leave cards in machines all the time. She just said that they would have to figure something out if that was the case but that it wasn't and those were the rules (on the Gem at least). And definitely wouldn't want to mess with my comps ;p

I just don't think it's worth it for the few extra points to maybe have to claim a jackpot on my taxes for other people. Smaller hand pays are not a big deal to write off/ cancel out but a $30,000 jackpot would have me sweating come tax time. I know chances are small but I've seen people hit BIG on the Breakaway a few times now on the slots. Murphy's law and all I just wouldn't chance it but that's me, other people take the gamble :D

  11. Depending on your group size you may want to limit it to the first 20-25 people. It gets a little too long with more people than that. You can always plan for a second slot pull on a different date.

DO NOT PLAY WITH YOUR CARD IN THE MACHINE. I know it's tempting to get some of those points on your card but any jackpot $1,200 and over will be hand paid (with tax form and all) to the player with the card in the machine. No taxes for Canadian/ European so best to let anyone in your group claim a jackpot tax free if possible (This scenario just happened with a slot pull a few weeks ago on the Gem, the card holder had to claim prize and get the tax form even though we had someone from Canada playing with us).

Slot pulls are so much fun enjoy!!!!

  12. I booked a CAS cruise once while I was on the Breakaway. I had just purchased some cruise next deposits and wanted to book a cruise but unfortunately the cruise next team can not book CAS. They were very helpful though and called up CAS for me and let me book it through there phone and just confirmed my purchase of cruise next deposits so I could use one right away. Not sure about how the Ultimate thing would work though.
