  1. do you have tips on companies close to various ports? I'll be stopping in Oahu, Kauai, and Hilo. Most of the rentals I was finding was at the airport that required an additional ride & time to pick it up.

There is an Enterprise location close to Pier 2 terminal on Oahu. It’s on Ala Moana Blvd.

  2. We are staying at the Westin St Francis on Union Square for our February, 2019 Princess Cruise. Is there a shop nearby to buy wine before our cruise?

There is a wine bar right around the corner from the Westin. It’s called ENO Wine Bar on Geary St. There’s also a Walgreens drugstore a couple of blocks down on Powell St. I used to work near there but don’t remember if they sell any type of alcoholic beverages.

Last time we were on the Grand, Anytime was in the Michelangelo MDR. The Da Vinci was used for early traditional and then became Anytime after 7:30pm. Botticelli was traditional only. Of course this could have changed in the last 2 ½ years.

  4. Thanks! That wont work for my clothes.

Do the machines to do your own take quarters? The Carnival one I was on did.

The machines use tokens. There is a machine in the self serve laundry room you use to swipe your cruise card to obtain tokens. Last time I used the machine it was $3 per load to wash, $3 per load to dry. There is also a machine to purchase detergent or softener. I think those are $1.50 each. Bring your own detergent and softener though if you can.

  5. Is the Medicare card used to prove your age or do they have an agreement with that company? I am 65+ From the UK and wondering if I would qualify for reduced rates. Thank you.

As long as you’re 65 or older the $2 fare for the day pass is valid for you. Make sure to let the driver know you want the day pass before putting money in the fare box. Just use your passport for proof of your age if the driver asks.

  6.

On our next cruise' date=' we will be in a suite for the first time. I read the "perks," one of which is "ice twice a day." I laughed and wondered whether it will really happen. [i']We didn't get ice once a day on our Japan cruise. I didn't make a stink, but I had requested it. I just ran up to the ice machine.[/i][/quote]

OK. I'll bite. Out of 8 Princess cruises I have seen zero ice machines. Where is this located?

    I’m guessing at the buffet.

  7. Pier numbering for San Francisco is a little deceiving as Pier 31 and the James R. Herman Cruise terminal (Pier 27) are directly next to each other. There are no piers in between. Looking at the map it appears all the Marriott hotels are about equal distance from the piers.

Actually, if you look closely, Pier 29 is between 27 and 31.

  8. DW and I enjoyed this stateroom last year. In addition to the metal walls on the front of the balcony there is the top of the bridge structure that limits views down to the water (BTW' date=' just out of your reach, mounted on the roof of the bridge is the ship's "blackbox" recording device, which is actually orange). You will be afforded wide, sweeping views of whatever lies ahead. This year we chose M103 over M101 because it looks like the view down to the water will be less impacted.[/quote']

We loved M103. Great views when we were arriving in Venice. Have a terrific cruise!

  9. We'd like to do some beach time at Waikiki also. It's been a long time since we've been there. Does anybody know if there are any lockers available to rent? It would be nice to be able to lock up the phone and wallet while we swim.

I remember seeing Koa Beach Services having lockers for rent, along with beach loungers, umbrellas, surfboards, etc. Sorry don’t know the cost and there weren’t that many lockers, less than 50 if I recall. I usually use an aquapac to keep my phone & wallet dry and attached to my person so no need to rent a locker.

  10. I agree with the previous posts regarding winery’s in the Napa and Sonoma areas. I’d avoid that area for now. Maybe find a different tour that includes Muir Woods but avoids the wine country. If you’d like to visit some wineries consider going east to the Livermore Valley. If I remember, there are at least 5 or more just on South Livermore Ave./Tesla Road alone. I remember seeing Wente Vineyards, Concannon Vineyard, Steven Kent Winery, etc.
