  1. Wow…..thank you all for the amazing info……lots to start researching
  2. We travel to Europe often, recently more by land. We have taken a number of Mediterranean cruises and would like to try something different. What would you suggest for a first European river cruise? Prefer something more than 7 days, possibly 10-14. What line would you suggest for a first time river cruise? More middle of the line rather than economy or high end. Prefer traveling late April to mid May or late September to mid October. We are currently finishing a three week land/RCCL cruise that started in Lake Como>Milan>Florence>Rome and ending on a 7 day Oasis of the Seas (we had a credit we had to use.) The land portion was great……the cruise not so much. Food was terrible, services diminished everywhere, way too many children (in May!) and more strollers than I could count. i love doing research…..just please point me in the right direction. TY…..Marty

Anyone ever use this company for transfers to FCO from the port thanks
  4. Thanks…..the ship docks at 6:00 and the group I have booked a transfer for 8:00. Two have 12:30 flights, two have 1:30 flights and my wife and I are overnighting in Fiumicino. i did not realize there would be no passport control. What time should I tell the others to start heading out to meet the transfer. I was thinking 7:15
  5. We are off the RCCL Oasis in Civitevecchia and must catch our transfer to FCO at 8:00. A large portion of the ship’s passengers embarked in Barcelona so for them it is merely a port day. About how much time should we need to self disembark and go through passport control…..thanks
  6. No luggage…….just four passengers.
  7. We usually tale the P11 bus to Porto Venere from near the cruise terminal. This trip we will be four…..any idea how much a taxi would cost? Looks like a twenty minute ride
  8. We will be porting in Marseille and spending the morning in Aix and the afternoon in Cassis. Any suggestions for a restaurant for lunch? Nothing that requires a reservation, good views would be great. Also a shop to purchase nougats. We will be there on a Tuesday, Mid May. Thanks
  9. Thanks The Oceana is small so we might be lucky. We have been to Palma a few times….taxi to Mercat de l’Olivar and then stroll back eventually ending near the Cathedral
  10. Looks like only one other ship in port that day the much smaller Oceania Maritima
  11. Thank you….not sure if there is a way to find out in advance
  12. My understanding is that RCCL usually docks ay Estacio Maritima. Are there different parts? Dique de Oeste? Muelle de Poniente? Are they near each other? thank you
  13. I know I can take the Blue Bus to the WTC and walk from there. For us Barcelona is a port stop. For a large number of passengers on this Oasis cruise, Barcelona is their debarkation. I’m thinking getting a taxi to go the short distance to Placa Real might be difficult. We would be getting off to meet a walking tour about 9:30 Any advice is appreciated.
  14. We arrive in Barcelona on a Sunday in May off the RCCL Oasis……for us it is a port day but for the vast majority of the ship it is debarkation day and for a new set of travelers embarkation day. We simply need to go to Placa Real to pick up a walking tour. Too far to walk from the pier and I doubt a taxi in the queue would want to take us that short distance. Any advice……should we take the Cruise Shuttle Bus to the WTC and walk from there? Are there usually long lines to board the shuttle bus? Thanks for the help
  15. Thanks....good suggestions. It is the only sea day so we thought a more quiet venue just to meet some new cruisers
  16. One in our group called RCCL and they offered a room free of charge and coffee/danish service for $2.50pp
  17. The "forum" is a group of retired educators. It is not the forbidden forum you are thinking of. I joined Cruise Critic in 2005 and for many years it was invaluable. Today, for whatever reasons, very few seem to join roll calls any more.
  18. Hi…….we have a group of about 60+ from a different forum. Day #2 is a sea day…….Day #3 is a short port day in Barcelona because a large number of passengers are ending their cruise and new passengers embarking. Any thought on which day to plan our own little meet and greet and where on the Oasis to do this? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks
  19. How much, if any, should you tip the driver per person?
  20. Is it easy to get a taxi at the cruise port in Naples? We want to go to Piazza Dante to meet a walking tour.......looks like a 15 minute ride. Do taxis use meters or do you negotiate for a predetermined price? I know we can walk but we prefer taking a taxi and saving the walking for the tour and after. Is there a particular pier that RCCL uses? Thanks
  21. To further complicate things I believe you must board a shuttle from the dock to the terminal in La Spezia…….and yes Florence is too far for just a port day
  22. Very, very, very jealous☀️ is Carrer Sant Miguel a good route? thank you
  23. Hi Roger B………first, Happy and Healthy New Year and thank you for all of your advice. We port in Palma Monday, May 20 from 8-4. We have been there twice before. Our preference this trip is to take a taxi and arrive early at Mercat de l’Olivar…..there is a cappuccino with our names on it. About what would the taxi cost from the port? Euros or CC? Our main plan is to stroll, shop, grab some pastries, end up strolling through Placa Major, Pg del Born……would Carrer de Sant Miguel be a good route from Mercato Oliver or do you have other suggestions? Any other streets, plazas we should not omit? What would be a good end point around 2pm to grab a taxi back? Placa de la Reina? Thank you from New York City where we await rain, sleet and snow through Sunday☃️ cannot complain…….NYC has not seen any real snow since February 2022. Stay safe and thanks for your traveling guidance…….we do appreciate it❤️
  24. Going to try this question again. When we port in Barcelona large number of passengers are disembarking……heading to the airport, to hotels. There may be a large taxi queue. If we take the port shuttle to the WTC…..is it easy to get a taxi there? For us this is just a port day. Thanks
