1. I received my first crystal block on my last cruise. (I actually hit 210 points on that cruise).

Did you get a 140 point block?

The Loyalty Ambassador usually gives it to you.

So far, mine have been mailed. Just received our Quantum block....took 6 months to get it.

  2. We are Platinum on RCCL so when we took our first cruise on Celebrity we became Select. We are taking our 2nd cruise in a few days and our 3rd one in August. How many cruises do we need to take to gain Elite status? Thanks.

It would have been easier to make Diamond on RCCL first, then get Elite status when you sail Celebrity. We alternated between RC and Celebrity and made Diamond on RC and Elite on Celebrity about the same time. Now we're Diamond Plus, but still like experiencing other cruise lines.

    We go for the itinerary.

  3. Also keep in mind that the tips go to waiters in the breakfast and lunch venues also. So if only your MDR waiter is bad, you may not want to not tip all the other eating venue waiters. But, as others said, if it's so bad you want to not tip, then talk to the Head Waiter and request a change. But to be honest, I doubt this will be a problem. Even the "worst" waiters we've had have earned the standard tip.

I agree, for me the standard tip is just part of the cruise price. They have to earn the wow envelopes by providing good service. For bars, just be sure to carry plenty of ones and fives for outstanding results.

Hey papaflamingo, have fun on the Quantum and watch out for women drivers in the bumper cars....my neck still hurts.:D

  4. 28 points. But, I'm not loyal to any particular cruise line. I'm happy to accept the benefits offered, but my decision to book a particular cruise is based on factors other than points or tier level with different cruise lines.

    I guess I'm a free agent.

Good for you, that's the way to cruise. We've cruised on 16 different cruise lines over the past 15 years and enjoyed the experience each has to offer.

  5. Yes it does bother me that I can't get breakfast and lunch in the CL anymore.

I also was told that you only get 2 drinks now at the bars not 3 as previously discussed on here.

I'm really tired of the cruise line bowing to the suite guests yes they may pay more but trust me I have paid alot more with all the cruises I've had and the onboard spending and thats their bread and butter not the one time suite guest.

The people on here with their go with flow attitude yes most of the time thats what we do but somtimes you just have to speak up.

Yes, the removal of breakfast and lunch made to order is disappointing, but like the Concierge states, it was a courtesy, not a benefit.

No, you still get 3 drinks loaded on your seapass card. When this first started, I was hesitant. But now this is my preference, don't need a private lounge. Yes, we have enjoyed talking to fellow cruisers in the DL and CL in the past, but there's more going on in other venues. We search for a bar and server we like on the first night and repeat throughout the cruise. We were on the Quantum in Nov, the Oasis and Allure in Dec, and just got off of an 11 night Legend cruise, the overall experience really varies between ships.

We thought the R Bar on the Legend was great, live music nightly and great drinks and service. Tip the first time and continue tipping....makes a huge difference. You won't have to order drinks for the rest of the cruise, your favorite bar tenders will see you coming....just nod your head.;)

Suites? They deserve everything they get and more. For those crazy prices, suite guest should have their own private lounge with top shelf liquors and made to order breakfast and lunch on every ship.

  6. Hello,

I just booked a stateroom near the rear elevators on deck 8 on Oasis. Upon closer look at the deck plans, it appears that there is no direct access to the open area that includes the Rising Tides and Central Park. It appears to be a solid wall. Could someone please tell me if this is so? I would have to change my stateroom.

We were just on the Oasis and Allure last month. We like deck 8 because of the easy access to Central Park. There are glass doors past the elevators on both sides that open to Central Park.

  7.
I need to know about parking at the port of Tampa. Can anyone direct me please.
I assume you are referring to the parking garage and not the offsite parking. I've lived in Tampa for 60 years and I only park at the Port of Tampa parking garage when we cruise out of Tampa.

    The address is:

    810 Channelside Dr.
    Tampa, FL 33602

Here is the website for information:

If you need offsite parking information, I can post that too.
  8. I wonder what RCL is really going to do for a DL on Oasis. The "new DL" on Oasis has been converted back to part of the MDR. Plans for Wonderland on Oasis have been shelved. The old CL or new DL is a pretty sad looking place. There are no decorations and the furniture looks like it was gathered from several garage sales. The furniture is a collection of old CL furniture, old DL furniture, furniture from the old MTD waiting area and goofy looking silver chairs that were rejected from the new new suite lounge. Not a very impressive way to treat highly valued customers.

So I take it you're on the Oasis now? We were on it Dec. 6 and they were working upstairs in the CL to get Wonderland completed. DL was on 4 and being used every evening and even had snacks and sandwiches for lunch.

I had heard that the CL sign on 11 was taken down and DL put in its place, is this true? Also, are they still serving beer/wine with lunch in the CL from 12-2pm? We didn't use the CL in the evening, mostly went to Vintages and used our drink coupons.

  9. I've done the bobsled and zipline at Mystic Mountain two times.....it was a great experience. We fly to Jamaica quite often and do our excursions during our stay at resorts. Some people get a culture shock when being around the locals in Jamaica, I guess it just depends on your life experiences.

  10. At least go out and walk around, go outside the port gates to get a feel of the town where you will be asked numerous times if you want to take a tour.

Or, grab a towel and go to Margaritaville and have a Red Stripe by the pool.

  11. I'm so confused with all these prices so I finally booked with an online agency. I booked Allure for April 12 ocean view balcony for $1100.00 per person total including gratuities & insurance & $50 onboard credit for cabin. I know all of you experts on cc can tell me if it is a good deal or not thanks

Can't totally confirm since there is no age, residency location, C&A level noted, but why would you be confused? If you go to the website and do a mock booking for a cat. D8 on the Allure for April 12, 2015, you would see that you got a great deal.

  12. Hopefully, they have made the luggage tags sturdier. One of ours broke off the first time we checked the bag for a flight. I took the others off and just have them as souvenirs now.

Same here, the first time we used them they didn't make it to the cabin. So now the other 2 are souvenirs along with our D and D+ pins.

  13. have another question on our pre-night in Ft Lauderdale...staying 2 nights at the Bahia Mar near the port...March 5th and 6th...any one know if they have a liquor store near the hotel and some restaurants that we can go to for our pre-nights...would like to purchase some wine to bring aboard for the cruise since we are allowed 2 bottles for our cabin...I think they sell beer and wine in the grocery stores in Florida but maybe not hard liquor...maybe i'm wrong...any help here would be much appreciated...thanks...

We stayed at the B Hotel (the old Sheraton) Dec. 5th and walked the beach up to LuLu's Bait Shack for a late lunch. If you walk the sidewalk north of Bahia Mar, you will pass lots of bars/restaurants, Coconuts, Bubba Gumps, etc. Several have outside seating and happy hour specials. If you make it to LuLu's, 17 S. Atlantic Blvd., there is a CVS store in the complex that sells beer and wine.

It' a nice stroll along the Blvd.
