  1. I read the thread and said "WOW ! brave person". If i found a scale in the bathroom I would request it removed or hide it personally. I think there should be a service to remove the scale from your home bathroom for one month post cruise and then return.

ps . if you are a person who requires monitoring of weight for some medical or conscience reason I appoligize for having fun at your expense.  If the scale is not there, and you need or would like it, then they must be stowed somewhere on the ship. just ask for it.

just thinking the meme should be everyone on their belcony , hucking the scales over board with the caption, " last day of the cruise"

I am Australian and I am really annoyed and peeved at this move by NCL. The only reason I booked on the cruise was St Petersburg. I am not due to cruise until August. Surely NCL can wait and see what pans out in the interim before cancelling. As another poster pointed out, the Ukraine is nowhere St Petersburg. By the way, the whole world is not American. Plenty of other nationalities cruise too! I don't think I'll be booking with NCL again. I vote with my feet!

If that is the ONLY reason you booked that cruise then I would recommend a flight and land tour. STP is a very large city and a 2 day stop on a cruise ship is not enough time to digest all there is to see. You have time and options. Seems like your mind is made up and your feet have made a decision, so enjoy saint petersburg I would suggest a week and there is a train tour to Moscow without the limitations of the ship disembarkment I would suggest several days there as well ( with the ship tour it is basically a bus and train tour and a VERY long day ) Not sure what the visa requirements are from Austalia but  may even save some money by not cruising to STP.  NCL is not your only travel option and you have time to make other arrangements. It seems rediculous to spend all that time on the ship for only 2 days in STP.  It is true the whole world is not american, however the whole world is made up of mankind and as peoples of the world there are issues that deserve our compassion , respect ,  and empathy. Enjoy SPT with more time on land you will really have a much better experience. You may even thank NCL in the end.

Yes, I agree.  We canceled last week as we decided we just didn’t want to go there anymore.

I agree, this is third time we cancelled with TJ travel, who have been wonderful.

not a capitalist economy in russia. The tour guides will survive.  I am sure russia does not rely on the cruise trade for their economy to function, other regions do. i am also not an economist so i could be wrong with my assumptions but I don't think so. My first thought is not to lost revenue of the tour guide,  there is a bigger issue here. such as passenger, crew and vessel safety.  I would suspect that fees at other ports are commencerate with the fees of the russian port, I also assume that those contracts were arranged years in advance, the port of saint petersburg is not saying " oh as long as your not stopping here let us refund your fees" so the cruise line will be eating these fees and scambling to find an alternative. i would not expect a price drop. Let's hope for a better Stop (or two). there are a bunch of great ports in very close proximty in the baltic sea.

  4. I support the cancellation of Saint Petersburg. No doubt that It is a highlight of the cruise. I would say it was A highlight not the hightlight. We did Saint petersburg as independent travelers off our cruise. No doubt it is a special  port, however you will be completey spent after visiting the Port.  If you are there for only one day It is not enough and you are not missing a thing. I WOULD NOT recommend someone canceling a baltic cruise if the only port you miss is Saint Petersburg. The other ports in the area from Germany to Finland are equally wonderful and if Saint petersburg is replaced by Brugge YOU WIN. ( I know that this port in recent years decreased visitorship to perserve it's heritage, not sure if iterneries visit anymore. )  Yes it is different and a full day at other ports.  STP packs too much into too little time. If you really need to see STP stay a while and enjoy the city . One or two days in not enought and way to sight intensive if you ask me, but I understand the reason, lots to see, big distances between , big crowds and at best you get is the highlights in too little time.  The canal tours in copenhagan is better. the sail in and out of Stockholm is better. The beer in belguim is better. you will get lost in the Hermitage, it is special for sure, so is the spilled blood chapel, saint catherines or peterhof  are away off and a full day if i remember.  BOTTOM LINE think before you decide, there are a lot of great ports on this iternery SPT is ONLY one of them .

Bermuda posted new requirements on 2/20/22 effective 3/7/22.Is this what you are referring to? Or is there more to come? TY.

This is what i understood too. implementation of new testing rules and reduced fees ( 70 to 40 $ ) on 3/ 7.  I am glad this topic popped up as I am trying to figure out pre cruise logistics. I figured before our cruise we had time so I'd follow prior cruisers on CC and hope for further easing of restrictions before we travel.

  6. thanks for the complete update. sounds like a good resolution and for the rest of us here, when the managers brief their people the conversation goes something like .... "this is unaccepable and this can not and will not happen again," and we all do not have to have your experience.  enjoy the rest of your cruise.  would not worry about the update in the original cruise I think most will read the thread to find out the rest of the story.

  7. "Go to the Food and Beverage manager and get the situation rectified."

what is the expectation is this situation? If there is no supply. I am asking in order  to get an idea of a realistic expectation. If i were presented with the same situation I don't now what i would expect be done and with the emotion that sometime influences the interaction. ( read "upset customer") I would not want to flip the script and be THAT GUY.   I appreciate going into the negociation with some real knowledge and expectation because you know this is not the first rodeo for the food and beverage manager. any insight would be appreciated.

  8. I do hope this is a temporary situation. Working in an industry that is very oriented on the client expericence and satisfaction I would be very disapointed if I paid for a service a majority of the options were "so sorry that is not available" or if only the sub par bottles were available. The old car sales pitch " only one offered at this price", in fine print.  In realaity the wines by the bottle are not that impressive over all with only a couple exceptions.  I am surprised there was not some type of compensation with a wine at the same price point.  sorry for your experince, it sounds like you are dealing with the situation in a very mature manner.

  9. "You're killing me Smalls" but THANKS.  Thanks for taking time to share your experience. Our time on the Joy is a long way out.  Seeing a DRINK pic ( all caps and proof read twice)  or two from your vacation ( appriciate you listing what they are) , a quick word of the show ( so i can plan what to see)  and an occational menu / event listing ( Pub crawl- it that is an acually thing? sign me up!, if not I am going to do that!, guess I already kind of do that but NOW it gonna be an actually thing !) all make the anticipation of out time on the ship more exciting, especially after such a long hiatus .  just wanted to say THANKS from a work desk! ENJOY and please continue to keep us updated!

  10. I hate to learn from someone elses' tragic life event, but i am thankful to you for sharing your experience. I hope I never have to live it but if I do, having read all the advise and experiences on the thread will help. i am sure your thead will help and serve myself or someone here in the future. So praying for your husband's recovery and eventually safe travel home. thank you for sharing your wisdom. We ( my wife and I)  were talking about travel insurance last night and never considered a life event like this.

    I am embarrassed.

you should not be. I did not mean to embarrass, so i am sorry. You gave such a great report from your cruise. I know for that week I lived through your adventures. leading up to your cruise great advice, during and after great review.  And to have a covid virtual toast was really the best part of my virtual cruise. you brought us all into the Haven. (virtually). I hope you way more appreciated above all. cheers

Here is my story and I am sticking to it.  I was on the Joy.  I was in the Haven.  I went to the Haven Bar.  I love really good tequila.  Back story, I watch YouTube and love the stars that do slot machines.  One of them love Cuervo 1943 tequila.  Prior to your best Tequila I can have on the Premium Plus program.  He says, 1942.  I said, let it rip.  That was day one.  So good, such a surprise.

I made NCL pay for this Premium Plus program I assure you.  I came home to my bottle and treat it like royalty.  Folks, stop drilling down on what you get or don't. Just go for it and for one week a year, live like a rock star.  It is over so quick.  So enjoy every moment.

Cruise well.  We all have to Cruise well and enjoy life.

THAT'S THE TRUTH! we got a great pic!

  13. does everyone start at the top of this thread at post #1 , scroll slowly and then spin the mouse wheel as fast as it will go until you reach the last comment!? OR is it just me ? not like the list changes but man is it nice to look at when your stuck at work! then for some dumb reason you see something you haven't seen before -- today it was Ommegang abby ale. that's a good one.

I also remember seeing somewhere victory and brooklyn brewing on a list a one time. - those were nice

  14. can't speak for swells 1,  but i would think you might be thinking Vintage vs original. Those are cool Cards,  Vintage or not and I would assume noone out there is doing knock off NCL playing cards as counterfeit .  I say, "enjoy your find, enjoy the cards with a topical drink and dream of the next cruise".

  15. we had this experience not with a cruise but overseas travel were no ones bag arrived. that is 7 of us and not one bag. the bag arrived several days after we arrived home from a 10 day trip. the airlined had a hard limit on compensation (maybe 300$ if i recall) . we had to purchase winter clothing , rain clothing and all other essentials as well as lugguge to return home.  We had travel insurance that covered some of the other costs but even that required a bunch of justification of costs. Since then we alway travel with insurance. I hope the airlines finds your bag and can get it to you.

  16. Sthrngary!

you showed us the beautiful view from the balcony. you have been giving us these great reports during the course of the your trip ( except for your son - hope he is better now and enjoying the cruise to it's fullest )

BUT you keep talking about these tequilla shots ( not one shot -  but shots ) . We gotta see the shots MAN !!!!!  I read this thread from work!  I can't be the only one that's sayin' "man would be nice right about now" be it food , activity or a tequilla shot!!

So i propose : raise a shot to all of us so we can raise a shot to you! we also know you have the premier drink package so make yours a good one! take a pic. then just think about how many drinking buddies you just made!

and Like i said above - you said shots  -  so a pic your first and the last might be interesting!

thanks for your insights and your posts you have made the week after thanksgiveing and returning to work much more bearable . cheers !

We recently purchased the NCL white for $5 per bottle at the grocery outlet  in CA.  Pretty bad when your house wine makes the premium list.

I would have to buy that too. just to see. And I would be suprised IF it were good. It is a funny thing, this preimum vs not premium question. My wife is a wine lover so all the wines under 15 $ are so so . just over 15 $ are just OK by the glass and the really good wines are not offered by the glass and 40% off is local market prices ( I could by that at home) . The "free bottles at dinner" are not that exciting either. So, a better wine with dinner by the glass but having to wait and wait for a second glass, or a less complex wine with dinner and avoid having to order a second glass. i think it is funny that 'fstuff1" picked up on the 17 a glass 27 for the bottle. Do you think there was a guy or girl sitting at the marketing table going " that's rediculous , I can't send that to the printer" ..... a printer going " in noticed this 17 a glass , is that suppose to be 7?"  OR somone  saying " we are going to make up for this lost revenue one glass of wine at a time" yeah probaly the last .
