  1. We usually eat in the WJ a lot, including dinners and we never went to the WJ until day 5 when we were on the Oasis. Hated the layout. We did go back our final sea day at breakfast to find that elusive donut and they had three varieties. We put a couple on a plate and took them to Wipe Out Cafe to have with our cooked to order eggs.:D One thing I did see in the WJ though was make your own eggs benedict, never saw that before.

Same feeling here. We tried to find other locations to eat. Generally, the WJ is a ok dining experience. We normally get ok food, plenty tables clean, coffee refills at the table by staff, and even bring you other drinks.

On Oasis, cruisers were taking coffee cups back to their cabin because they were always running out of clean ones. Then, if they had cups, coffee was empty. Not enough staff to keep the tables clean during busiest times. I cleaned our table a couple of times. I think just too many people to handle at one time in the WJ. We found alternative times and made the best of the situation and still had a wonderful time.

  2. How strictly was the dress code enforced for Chef's Table? The suggestion is for the men to wear suit jackets and ties. Normally we try to adhere to the dress code suggestions but my husband just realized he didn't pack dress pants or a suit coat. He does have khaki type dockers and a short sleeved button down shirt. Hoping that will be good enough as we are booked for Chef's Table on the Enchantment of the Seas this weekend!

We booked the first night about 4 months before the cruise, knowing that generally the ships consider the first night casual by word of mouth. Although it clearly states formal attire, suit and tie for me, because luggage is not always in the room in time to dress up, they are very lax in all eating establishments the first night. We ask our waiter, whom we were able to meet that afternoon on boarding, and discussed dress with him. He told us it didn't matter the first night. Our luggage was a bit late but I did grab a pair of long pants and my sport jacket. No tie. There was 3 couples the first night. One was there to celebrate a birthday and they were very dressed up. However, we ran into them the other 3 nights of our cruise and they were always very dressed up for dinner. The other couple, the gentleman had on a tie only.

  3. We went to Chefs Table aboard Majesty and it was a wonderful experience. The wine flowed, interacting with the Chef and staff, as well as the other guests, was truly a dinner to remember.

I would say you would be remiss if you don't take up this unique dining experience. Well worth the extra $ charged.

We had six courses with either 6/7 different wines, one for each course. A glass or two of champagne to start.

We thought about coming back another night but were told they use the same menu for about 6 months, or probably the length of a staff contract.

Don't pass up this opportunity. I think this event is likely to fill up once the word gets out.

  4. Where do the diamond, D+, Pinnacle go for drinks??????

Really. In the middle of this wonderful thread.

I will answer your question, same place everyone gets their drinks, the bar.

Some can't go through any post without getting worried about their status and where are the FREE drinks. Is that all many cruise for??

Thanks Winks for your wonderful write-up.

  5. Hitting FOTS in a couple of weeks, and we are typically "why spend more for food when food is already included" type pf people. But, we have some onboard credit, so we thought we would try one of the specialty restaurants. We are leaning towards Giovanni's Table, since some RC fanatic friends of ours say GT served them the best steak they've ever had (including Chops), and I like GT's format of serving.

Feel free to talk us out of it - what are your faves (of the restaurants we would find on FOTS).

    Thanks

Last two times we have ate in Chops from ships based out of FLL, the steaks have not been as good as they were in the past. We were told by the staff that RCCL had changed supply venders for meat. Maybe others might know more. We cruised Jan/May this year.

  6. We are doing a 12 day cruise on Brilliance in a GS, is suite breakfast in chops? Also where is reserved pool seating, is there priority tendering? ( not new to RCCL or suite but have never sailed on this ship)

I hope you come back and tell us of the perks in GS. We are sailing on Brillance GS 7 day and her sister class ship, Serenade GS 11 day.

Looking forward to your cruise report on GS on this class of ship.

    Thanks

  7. If the drink that you want costs more than the maximum $ amount in your package, you will be charge the DIFFERENCE plus 18% of that difference. :)

There are no taxes charged on beverage packages, regardless of when they are purchased. (except in Europe when Spanish VAT taxes may apply)

Never knew this. Good to know. On drinks with Souvenir cups, we have always been charged full price. Not normally covered by PP package.

  8. On all of my RCCL cruises, I've spent at LEAST 4 hours a day in the casino. I always figured I wasn't betting enough until I read some of these threads. Last week, I emailed CR asking why I had never been rated, or if I had and just didn't know it. This is the response I received:

    Good Afternoon Julie Anne,

Thank you for contacting Royale Caribbean’s Club Royale! Our Casino VIP program has always been an invitation only program and individual players where invited to join at the discretion of our Casino Host’s onboard. As such it is possible that lesser players who made themselves known to the host may have received invitations while guests who played more seriously, unfortunately did not.

As of 15 March, 2016 we began transition to a new open enrollment program. Our new player program will track all play on each individual SeaPass account and rate players accordingly. While this will not have any retroactive effect, we are happy to inform you that this will be the case beginning with your very next cruise onboard Royal Caribbean.

To get the most accurate prices and availability customized to your best cruise vacation, please call us toll-free at 1 888-561-2234 and speak with one of our skilled Club Royale agents. We are available from 8:00am to 10:00pm, Monday through Friday, and from 9:00am to 7:00pm, Saturday and Sunday (Eastern/Miami Time). [Our toll-free number is accessible from most countries by first dialing your country’s Exit Code. If you are unable to reach our toll-free number, please call 1-305-539-6000, between 8:00am and 5:00pm Eastern time, Monday through Friday, and ask to be transferred to Club Royale, Extension 28586.] You may also reach us at ClubRoyale@rccl.com.

Based on this response, I honestly have NO idea if I will get any discounts or comps by calling, but I guess I can try. Thoughts?

The 800 number is FREE and just might save you some money. I read about CR here on CC and simply called them. It saved me more than $2k on our 11 day Serenade cruise and another $400 on our 4 day Enchantment cruise. All for a simple phone call. They also upgraded my cabin from Deluxe Bal to Sup Bal, and wait listed us for GS. Yesterday we got our GS. Net result was we got our GS for close to what we originally booked the Deluxe Balcony. The CR folks are wonderful on the phone.

Call them. Worse they can say is no.

  9. Welcome to the YH07 Club!!! :)

With free nightly drinks in concierge/suite lounge now coming with your GS, plus free drinks in Casino (allowed by virtue of that sticker they'll add to your seapass on first night from host) why buy drink package? :). I've found between these two it's cost prohibitive to buy drink packages....ill just buy a beer at pool now and then, but the rest of my drinks I get free between these two afforded options.

    YMMV

    Mark

As far as drinks go... Maybe in the later future I might not buy drink packages. At this time, the lady and I spend very little time in a Lounge that offers free drinks. While she sleeps/naps, I play in the Casino. On occasion she might watch me play. We just like to have a drink when and where we want. We love the convenance of the packages. Normally, we are beer drinkers, however, in cruises, we tend to have nicer cocktails. A Bloody Mary or two by the pool, mojito, good scotch on the rocks later. It's nice to sample different drinks.

Just very nice to get what you want when you want it.

    Good suggestions though.

  10. Something interesting today regarding Club Royale. We had booked a Sup Bal on Serenade through Club Royale. We were on a wait list for GS. Today, two GS, RS, and JS opened. I wonder if same people or group had the cabins and released them. That is for another topic.

We got our GS off the wait list. I asked Club Royale about my status and any code I might be entitled (just love using that word)? They informed me that play was no longer being tracked for status??? Not sure that was accurate. Club Royale told me since I was now in GS, I would be introduced to the Casino Mgr the first day of the cruise. First I had heard of this.

I got my new booking and reservation for GS and guess what showed up on my invoice???

    YHO7 - CLUB ROYALE

On top of this, he said I would receive a gold sticker from the Casino Manager for my sea pass. I was told the perks were at the desecration of the Casino Mgr but likely included free drinks while playing and other bennies (I buy drink package so not sure how free drinks will help). Never heard of a Gold Sticker for sea pass.

Ok, just when I thought I had a handle on these codes or no codes, now I am confused again. I will take it regardless.

  11. I wondered how long it would take you to continue your last thread onto this one.

It only seems like it's you who is bothered by lounges

I have not started any threads. I just think it is hilarious when cruisers get uptight about what lounge and free drinks. Those that have issues should book a suite and buy drink packages then all will be better off as will my stock in RCCL.

  12. What do you not understand about C&A stats and lounges?

D+ and Pinnacle and Suite guests have access to Diamond and Concierge Lounge.

When on a ship with a Diamond and Suites lounge (no CL) the suite guests and pinnacles can use the SL (suites lounge) - Pinnacle members also can use the D lounge when there is no CL. D+ use the Diamond Lounge, as do the Ds.

Please do not start an argument on this board as you have done on two other boards with the result being both were shut down.

Good to know. On some posts, D+ were asked to leave CL/SL on some ships. I am not trying to start an argument but I am amused when people think they are entitled to a perk, not a right. I book suites and buy drink packages. I have no issues but I find it hilarious that many worry about what lounge and free drinks they can visit for certain hours.

  13. We were also on Ovation for the Barcelona to Dubai and Dubai to Singapore sailings. The Diamond Lounge was converted to the Golden Club on the last day of the Dubai to Singapore leg. We were told the 2nd floor of the Music Hall would be used as the Diamond lounge after that. In fact on the last night of our cruise that is exactly what was done since they were still working on the conversion.

The lounge on deck 12 was definitely a CL and not a SL on our sailings. We had just made D+ on our prior cruise and were in there often. It is a very nice lounge although a bit of a walk (good exercise opportunity!). Not sure if there are plans to change it to a SL any time soon.

So D+ could use the CL? What about D? If there was an area for D on deck 4 or Music Hall, why would you go to CL??

    Thanks

  14. Good question - better for views. Looking towards the water. I'm not familiar with those docks so don't know the surroundings. It may not make a difference - thanks!

It really all depends what dock and port they use, time frame, other ships in port, and so on. I personally like the starboard side. Most of the ships I have sailed seemed to dock starboard side. But really it all depends.

  15. So having been on Ovation I am wrong, must have been dreaming then.

I have not been on Ovation. However, there are several deck plans by date. Current date deck plans are exactly how you said, CL deck 12, DL deck 4.

Wonder when they were aboard as the deck plans seem to be changing by port of call
