  1. We were in Venice July 8 & 9. Yes, there is a hop on hop off boat. I saw the brochure but we didn't use it. The loop went out to Murano so it was long time wise. We did lots of walking and had a 24 hour vaporato pass. Be prepared for CROWDS. We waited til about 8:30-9:00 PM to try to do the Grand Canal. It was wall to wall people; not a pleasant experience at all. We bailed and turned around part way down to go back to our hotel. One thing I would highly recommend, the Doge Palace Hidden Treasure tour. It is offered once a day and has a limit of ten people so you need to purchase the tickets ahead. Once you are done with the tour you can go through the Doge Palace on your own.

Hi...How is the doge hidden treasure tour different from the secrets tour there? How did you decide which to do?

    Thanks

  2. Another option is that Princess allows you to bring soda onboard. We put a 2-liter bottle in the cabin fridge (every cabin has a mini-fridge) and just pour into our mugs as desired. I don't care for coke products which is the brand Princess carries so this is what I prefer.

can you bring sparkling water on board?

  3. No. If you pay the corkage fee at embarkation, the bottles will be stamped, and they can consumed anywhere on the ship - dining rooms, bars, etc. without an additional corkage fee.

The one bottle each that is allowed without the corkage fee can not be consumed other than in your cabin - or if you carry it in a glass to a dining room or bar, etc.

    Thank you for clarifying that!

  4. Princess has a great FAQs section on their website with answers to most questions & here's a link to it and a quote about their alcohol policy.

    http://www.princess.com/learn/faq_answer/onboard/experience.jsp

"As provided in the Passage Contract, guests agree not to bring alcoholic beverages of any kind onboard for consumption, except one bottle of wine or champagne per adult of drinking age (no larger than 750 ml) per voyage, which will not be subject to a corkage fee if consumed in the stateroom. Additional wine or champagne bottles are welcome, but will incur a $15 corkage fee each, irrespective of where they are intended to be consumed. Liquor, spirits or beers are not permitted. Please remember that luggage will be scanned and alcohol outside of our policy will be removed and discarded.*

Alcoholic beverages that are purchased duty free from the ship's gift shop, or at ports of call, will be collected for safekeeping and delivered to the guest's stateroom on the last day of the cruise. A member of the ship's staff will be at the gangway to assist guests with the storage of their shoreside alcoholic purchases while our Boutiques staff will assist guests with shipboard alcoholic purchases.

*Princess Cruises is not responsible for any alcoholic beverages removed and discarded by shoreside security staff.

Such items are not eligible for monetary refund or replacement'.

so if I bring more than the 2 allowed bottles I will be charged a $15 corkage fee per bottle. If I take them into the dining room do they charge an additional corkage fee?

  5. Which one of these packages would be considered the Unlimited Beverage Package. We have never sailed on this cruise line so it's a bit confusing. Just like to know upfront what we are getting?

The package that you normally get is the classic package, You can upgrade to the premium package for about $11 per person per day. Premium has premium brands of liquor. It includes sparkling water, coffee drinks, and martinis.

  6. Hi...We will be in Moorea on a cruise ship Easter Sunday. We were thinking of renting a car as we have never been to the Tahitian islands before. First question...where can we explore with a rental car? Are there areas that we would want to see that we can't get to with a rental car? What are your recomendations? We are doing a snorkel day in bora bora the next day...Help please....
