  1. Good morning from rainy St. Lucia. The winds howled last night with the wind even rattling through the deck door. We are in the harbor now with much less wind. Nothing on our calendar other than walking ashore. Thanks for the Daily Reports and maps Jacqui and Roy. Thanks for the cares and celebrations reports @JazzyV. Prayers for Tana getting over her fever and Vanessa that you can get some sleep and relief of your leg pain. Prayers for everyone needing them. Prayers for the people of Ukraine.
  2. Last night we ate at Tamarind. Like everything on the ship it was busier than usual. Partner and I have OB credit to use so we ordered upcharge and sushi items. Both were lobster based, I had the wok seared lobster and he had crispy lobster sushi. Mine was not wok seared but in a thick batter then fried. It was very chewy so Caribbean lobster. There was a lot of it. His was cool and I would think fried lobster should be hot but the dipping sauce was fabulous. I had the Satay skewers and tempura shrimp as starters. The skewers were lukewarm but the sauce was excellent. The lamb was declared perfectly cooked and tender. More food porn from last night.
  3. We are still in Dominica leaving in an hour. We went ashore for lunch at a restaurant in sight from the ship. It was very popular with locals and French folks. I feel for the people on tours today as it has been gloomy all day and it just started raining. Every time a big wave comes in the ship shudders, probably more noticeable in our aft cabin. A website photo of the restaurant and a few from our day in town. Have a nice evening. Nancy
  4. Exterior view of La Petit Paris. Has Soca Rum written on blue roof. Website photo.
  5. Today we went to La Petit Paris for pizza and beer. I loved this place. Mainly full of locals or VRBO visitors. On Google almost all positive reviews some people complained about slow service. One has to be a little proactive if you aren't on Caribbean time. We had our beers in 5 minutes. I am sure we had the first pizza of the day so that took 30 minutes. I enjoyed the local color. No AC but 5g Internet. I would go again next time in Dominica.
  6. Will order next week if we aren't in a specialty. Looks wonderful, thanks for sharing! Many on the books due to 5 star benefits.
  7. We are eating there again tonight and I booked two more for 5 star benefits before we disembark on 2/24. Beef, crispy duck, Nami Sushi extra, shrimp tempura, fried soft shell crab from Nami extra charge, dessert, two more crispy duck and shrimp tempura. All very yummy!
  8. I saw it go by to my neighbor's table. It didn't seem to have a lot of gravy. Was it turkey breast? I guess a lot of extra gravy would help. I have one more chance to order it, with extra gravy.
  9. Good morning from Dominica. We have visited at length in 2023 so will probably head down the street to a French style restaurant nearby. We can see it from the ship and it doesn't look like much but the Google reviews and photos makes it look like a winner. Cloudy weather here today. Thanks for our Daily and maps each day Jacqui and Roy! Thanks for keeping abreast of our group in need of prayers Vanessa. Special prayers for pain relief for Vanessa and healing for Tana. Prayers for the people of Ukraine. There was some excitement for our waiters last night because the vent hoods quit working in the galley and the dining room filled with the smell of burning fish. They turned off the frigid AC in the MDR because it was probably pulling the smell in. There was an obvious haze at the entry area. Our assistant waiter told us it was chaotic at the beginning of dinner service. Other than the smell we never would have known.
  10. We are in Roseau, Dominica today. I don't know what we will do today, but it is a good feeling to have nothing to do. Last March we did a wonderful 7 hour bus tour of the beautiful island. Maybe enjoy the balcony watching the ship traffic. It is cloudy right now. Hopefully the sun will come out.
  11. Last night there was an issue in the ventilation system in the galley. Right after we were seated we smelled burning fish. We were both sitting there as usual freezing as it always is in the MDR but the AC stopped because I think it was pulling in the smoke to the dining room. There was a smoky haze visible in the entry. A short period of varied smells then the frigid AC kicked on again. Our assistant waiter confided in us that the vents quit working and it was chaotic in the kitchen. Nonetheless they pulled off early dinner service admirably. I had cod fritters, first time for this sailing they were a little doughy and joined together and CO pork tenderloin finished with sugar free almond fruit cake. It was rather dry because there was no fruit added just a tablespoon of fruit on the side. Completely different preparation from my favorite cake on the Volendam. John had a cheese plate, NY Strip loin with hot fries and finished with chocolate torte. Overall a good dinner without knowing the hassles in the kitchen. I would not order the tenderloin in the future. Tamarind for dinner tonight.
  12. Lots to find on this main street near the port in Antigua. No need to go to the distant grocery.
  13. St. Thomas views from last month. We will be there for the final time this cruise on 2/11. I was getting over the respiratory illness so I remained onboard.
  14. Good morning from Antigua, St. John's. We are taking a taxi to a grocery store though John found a pharmacy in walking distance perhaps they will have what we need, cough syrup and cold pills. My cough is slowly getting better, it has been a long haul.We opted out of it due to the high winds yesterday. Today we have sunshine and a light breeze. Thanks for the daily reports and the maps @kazu and @rafinmd. Prayers for everyone on our care list and the people of Ukraine. @Cruzin Terri I hope that you are feeling better even if the bruising is spreading. Here are photos from this morning.
  15. Arriving this morning. Antigua, St. John's plus the shopping map.
  16. Today's Daily Activities and our planned stop for today, a large grocery store 1.5 miles from the port. A beautiful day with a light breeze, such a nice change from the high winds of yesterday. Pinnacle bar is now open at 4. I may have missed this change but all last cruise is was 5. It was a busy spot yesterday.
  17. Thanks for your comments. We dine at 5, not for everyone and that is how our service is fast and complete. We are 4 star and in a Neptune so we requested an assigned table for 5 o'clock. We walk in right to our table at opening. We have requested going forward on our reservations early dining table for 2. As the ships continue to sail at capacity eating very early or late is going to be the way to go for speedy are attentive service. Last evening it seemed that everyone came early and our waiter was extremely busy but his assistant took care of our needs. Last night's chefs dinner items we ordered. Sushi, crab cake, tempura udon and prime rib. Prime rib wasn't the beautiful cut I had the last time and I thought the mushroom topping added nothing. John liked his udon but wished for more traditional sized udon noodles.
  18. Varying weather today. We had hoped for lunch at Big Bastaards after our shorex was cancelled but it is basically open air on the beach. Probably lunch with a lot of sand added. I think we are passing. Big Bastaards photo is a Facebook shared photo. I have read their food is really good.
  19. No smoking in Eurodam casino. 😄 The only place where it is noticable is the Seaview bar and waiting at NY Pizza. Today's 15+ mph winds there probably would be no smell there either. The ship is shuddering from the waves smashing into the port side.
  20. Food porn from last night in the MDR last night. Two absolute favorites so I had chilli rellenos as a starter and pork belly for the main. John had the bean and pasta soup and lasagna with requested meatballs. Our waiter Allan takes great care of us.
  21. Good morning from windy Phillipsburg. We were warned that we may not be able to port by the captain last night. We made it into port but our chef's table excursion was cancelled due to having to ride a chair lift up the mountain. We will walk to the port area to seek out some salty snacks. HA potato chips are a little sad, better in room service than the Lido. Today's Daily Activities and upcoming events invite from the casino. We are not big gamblers. Our first 10 day cruise I was $200 ahead. Last one about - $50. There is a Players Club group on onboard.
  22. Thanks @wdw1972. Much closer for us and they make a good one. I had a decaf cappuccino this morning in the Pinnacle Grill for breakfast. Our shorex was cancelled and I ate my first breakfast of the cruise.
