  1. @Crazy For Cats bon voyage! 🍾 Fishing poor today so were my camera skills. The curious Loon put on a show near the boat but my memory card must not have been seated correctly. 😥 Thanks for the Daily Reports. Prayers for all on Roy's care list and for people suffering due to the Ukraine war and the victims in Oslo. For log cabin day a pic of mine. Have a wonderful day!
  2. Happy Friday! I am on my way into town and have my laptop for once. I have to pick up meds and mail and drop off some things to St. Vincent's. A good day to do it because we have another hot, humid day but it is hazy so I am hoping it is not too hot. Should be a 3+ hour adventure. As I drive down the dirt roads I have passed 2 snapping turtles heading away from the creek to lay their eggs. Prayers for all on the care and prayer list, the people of Ukraine and Poland and @StLouisCruisersthat DH gets a clear Covid test today. I am looking forward to the Brazil pics today, I think it is on our itinerary for next year. Since I rarely post from my laptop I can't post a lot of photos. I have a Bald Eagle photo from yesterday. He is getting tolerant of us and allowed us to get the boat right below him. White Admiral butterfly and a new Iris for this year. Last year I bought Iris for the first time in 12 years. Name escapes me.
  3. @rafinmdHappy birthday, I hope you have a wonderful day! 🎂🍾. Thanks for recognizing the loss of "Goose" and Jaylon Ferguson. A beautiful day here but it will get into the 80s. I opened the loft windows and it was 63 degrees inside. Log cabin AC all charged up. Fishing is in order for today with winds out of the south. Thanks for the Daily Reports and prayers for all on the care list, those dealing with COVID and the people of Ukraine. Thanks to Poland for homing 4 million refugees.
  4. It is the Amasa Sawblade. Their pizza is the best we have had I'm the UP. The place doesn't look like much but we are thankful to have a place like that right where we hit the asphalt after driving 13 Mike's through the woods. 15 minutes north of Crystal Falls. Yes we went to Escanaba.
  5. Back after a day in town yesterday. Perfect day to go for a 90 minute drive to get to Menard's, our decent grocery Meijer, the casino, buying fireworks and a pizza dinner. We were having a pre celebration for DFs birthday today. Also a great way to get away from the heat. A much better day today with low humidity and a nice breeze. No fishing with the wind. Prayers for all on the care list and for all involved in the Ukraine war. 🙏 Thank you for the Fleet and Daily Reports. @StLouisCruisers I am happy to hear you are out of COVID jail. Hopefully your husband sprung today. A few photos from the last few days. Snapping turtles are on the move to lay their eggs. We have one due that lays hers in the gravel by our front walk. Smart move, keeps the predators away. New Iris this year. Bought last summer finally blooming. Pizza birthday celebration last evening and first small mouth of the season. Have a great day.
  6. Happy Monday. It is going to be very hot here the next two days. We will go to town tomorrow. Since we are off the grid we have no AC. Thankfully the crawl space is still very cool and the logs haven't gotten hot yet so we can stay cool inside for about another 24 hours with the cabin shut up and drapes closed. The way we used to do it in Michigan when we were kids. Sorry for all the airline problems. Hopefully no one will miss their cruises. I hope as DF sees the coverage he will agree with me to drive to Fort Lauderdale next year for our cruise as we always do. Prayers for all needing them and thanks for the Daily Reports!
  7. Happy Father's Day to all the fathers out there and to all of us missing our Dad's. My pictures today are our morning view. This land was spotted by my dad in the early 1960s while deer hunting. He and his buddy bought about 3/4 of a mile of lake frontage in 1963. His vision and sacrifice made our family heritage possible on the lake. Many thanks Dad! Thinking of my late DHs son today. I am sure he is missing him a great deal. Me too. Have a nice day, thanks for the Daily and prayer for all in need. 🙏
  8. @Norseh2oI hope you have better weather in Honfleur next trip. A wonderful small city. @dfishHappy memories of the Galley in Kalamazoo. My favorite was the #19. Obviously it was a staple of my diet. Loads of meats and cheese and they had a very hot Capicolla. I worked my way through Nazareth College. A great day today and we will go fishing. Very high barometric pressure and light wind out of the south so a little bit of rippling. It was 43 when I got up. Prayers for the lost parishioners in Birmingham, Alabama and their families and friends. Prayers for rescue for our lost volunteers in Ukraine. Prayers for all on the care list.🙏. Thanks for the Daily Reports. If you want butterflies plant chives. They come up like weeds but their flowers draw many butterflies and bees. Have a great weekend!
  9. Happy Friday! A beautiful day with wind so no fishing but a lot of weeding. We love fried fish and since we cook our own Walleye at the cabin there are no chips. Lots of fresh veggies though. Thanks for the Daily Reports. Prayers for the three missing men supporting Ukraine, the people of Ukraine and all on Roy's care list. 🙏
  10. Good morning. Thanks @kazufor your beautiful garden photos. Yesterday with all the rain and wind my hummingbird feeder iron post fell over. Didn't hurt my flowers but boy were they confused. @dfish I sure hope you can find out where your pain is coming from. Our storm in the morning yesterday was the worst. We had done a lot of preparation for the supposedly big one was unnecessary. Some rain and lightning. Glad we missed the big one. Big storms can blow down trees and block our logging road. Lots of chain saw work with terrible mosquitoes. It is going to blow today so that makes outdoor work better with the mosquitoes blown away. Sandy I hope you and your husband feel better soon. Prayers for all on Roy's care list and the 2 American volunteers missing in Ukraine. 🙏🇺🇦
  11. My DF just texted me the countdown to our Grand South America. 200 days. I am sure it will fly by. 😺 I will try to get some wildlife photos today.
  12. Good morning. A day of storms. First one kicked off at 6:30 am. Possibly another around 11 and a doozy of an evening storm. Plenty of sun right now. @StLouisCruisers sorry to read about your COVID issues on your cruise. Prayers for all on Roy's care list. Prayers for the people of Ukraine. 🙏 Have a nice day everyone and thank you for the Daily Reports.
  13. @Rowsby I am so sorry you lost your Casey. 😿 Good morning and happy Flag Day. It is going to blow today so a day of yardwork not fishing. Prayers for all on Roy's care list and condolences to Ray in the loss of your brother. Prayers for the people of Ukraine. 🙏🇺🇦 Thankfully I hit all my Iris blooms and most Lupines with deer spray.
  14. We have been very busy so I may have missed yesterday. We went fishing even though they aren't biting. Yesterday I caught first, biggest and most. The picture I am attaching. I am wearing my "Porter Lake lingerie" what my sister calls my bug netting. Not much a small Rock Bass. So many types of clouds between two great lakes. In town today back to today's day - garden weeding. 🙄 Prayers for all on Roy's care list especially the people of Ukraine.
  15. Good morning to all Daily friends. Woke up to temp in the 30s but it is 56 and sunny already. We had a good day of rain yesterday. Perfect for a day of cooking and watching horse racing. I am disappointed that Rich Strike didn't strike but happy for Mike Repole the owner of the first 2 finishers. He has put a lot of money in the business so happy he was rewarded with a Classic win. More rain tomorrow so I have a lot of weeding to do. DF will have to entertain himself fishing. The hummingbirds are going through 4 pounds of sugar every three days. Thankfully my sister had 5 pounds which will hold me until we go to town tomorrow. My friend sold his place so I think I am the only one feeding on a 2 mile long lake. Plus the only clearing with flowers. Prayers for all on Roy's care list and for more ammunition for Ukraine. 🙏 Thanks for the Daily Reports. @HeartgroveI so sorry to read of your DS passing. 🙏
  16. Good Saturday morning. Raining here, a perfect way to not feel guilty sitting indoors watching the Belmont Stakes day of races. I missed yesterday as the boat was put into the lake and we took a long ride around the lake and took my sister to dinner in town. @AncientWanderer thanks for the comment on the photos. I will keep them coming! Prayers for all on Roy's care list and for the people of Ukraine. We will have a family of refugees up here at the lake for the 4th of July. A grandmother, her daughter and a baby. Our neighbor's DIL is from Ukraine and her family is here and will try to stay for good.
  17. A beautiful morning I'm Michigan's UP. Boat still not in the water but the flowers are beginning to bloom and many Bumblebees and Hummingbirds. The hummers are drinking so much I have had to water down the water and sugar mix to make it last till we go to town again. The butterflies are beginning to show too. @rafinmdI hope your hip feels better soon.
  18. Thanks for the Daily reports! Prayers for all on Roy's care list and prayers for @seagarsmoker DB for his successful surgery today. Less time on the internet has had a positive effect. Instead of sitting with my laptop on my lap I am reading much more. I am enjoying River of Darkness about Pizarro's failed search for gold but the first European exploration of the Amazon River. They started in Quito and some ended at the Atlantic in 1541-2. Have a great day.
  19. Good morning. 52 degrees and sunny. The new solar panels are really doing great. We are going to level the dock and I am going to get rid of some weed seeds with my string trimmer. A winner on drink, wine and meal. Prayers for the people in Ukraine Putin is attacking more areas and destroying stored foodstuffs. We need to come to some solutions to stop the slaughter of school children. Prayers for all on Roy's care list. 🙏 My sisters are coming to the lake today staying at my younger sister's cabin. It will be nice to have people around. Very quiet on the the lake this summer. Some photos of my garden downstate, plants I never see in bloom. Have a wonderful day!
  20. Happy Monday! A trip into town. I can enjoy all the great pictures at my leisure. Thanks for the Daily. Prayers for all on Roy's care list. Our dock was rolled in yesterday. 😺
  21. @marshhawk I read your comments yesterday. I agree 100%. I have a group of friends in our wine group and Hans is 96 and he picks up all the ladies who can't drive at night. Aging well is the gift of genes and the wisdom and strength to keep going as long as one can.
  22. Happy Sunday! Thanks for the Daily and all the great photos. Today's drink looks like a winner for a hot day. Not so here today. Highs in the 60s. No break on the mosquitoes yet but the black flies dished. I planted a lot of seedlings into hanging baskets for summer beauty. Today I will plant my Mexican sunflower seedlings in my old vegetable garden. I grow tomatoes in containers now. Easier to keep them warm at night next to the cabin. @HeartgroveI am praying for your siblings and strength for you and your sister. Prayers for all on the prayer list. 🙏 Hopefully our dock will go in today. Friends from town will help us push it in. DF will put on waders and level it and tighten the bolts. I usually have a company from town do it but he has been stringing us along for three weeks. It gives me a chance to get ahead on my neglected garden. Have a wonderful day!
  23. Happy Saturday. We had an exciting day yesterday. New solar panels and new batteries. Then a trip to town to see our lake neighbors who sold their cabin last year. They had flown into town from San Diego for a very brief visit. He is 97 and was still boating alone on the lake last summer and foraging mushrooms. I will miss them on our remote lake they were among the very few all summer residents. He also made great pizza. The panels fit perfectly on the tracking system. The batteries are the new kind I won't have to add water to. That was a dreaded task. The tech said the generator probably won't run all summer. Great news as propane costs have gone up. So cold this morning we turned on our backup propane lights for some heat. I hug my cats in my heart. They passed in 2019 and 2021. Prayers for all on Roy's care list and for the people of Ukraine. Thank you everyone for making the Daily such a great group!
  24. Good morning. Thank you for the Daily Reports. As I sit in the truck the mosquitoes are so bad I may weigh in to go to town. This is the longest we have been at the cabin without leaving. I hate to leave on a beautiful day. New solar panels and batteries are due tomorrow. Our dock is still not in. Fishing is poor and it has been windy but we want to get our boat in soon. Our weather will be cool so I can wear my mosquito netting comfortably but the black flies seem to bite right through it. The costs of living in paradise. Heading in to watch the Platinum Jubilee celebrations. Prayers for all on Roy's care list.
  25. Good morning. What a difference a day makes. 88 and 25 mph winds. Today it is 48 and blowing from the north. I was fortunate to have my life saved by the Heimlich maneuver. At a Morton's Steakhouse in Atlanta. Too big a piece of prime rib. It was noisy and rather dark but my colleague across the table saw what was happening and it took two pushes and I was saved. I was fine. Finished my wine but no more prime rib that night. I was able to save my Dad with it also. Again it was rib roast. Prayers for all in need, the people of Ukraine and the grieving families in Uvalde and Buffalo. @dfish I hope your surgery is successful and takes away your pain. My Itoh peony back home. DS sent it so I could enjoy it.
