  1. Has anyone picked up scooter at terminal rather than on ship ? It would be very helpful to me if I could do this. Cruising out of Baltimore on the Pride in April.

Call the rental company.. they might arrange something for you.. I rent mine from Special Needs At Sea everytime.. and once did a b2b that had a day gap inbetween.. and they allowed me to take it off the first ship and spend the day in the city then take it back with me on to the second ship the day after..

  2. Yes, you can put money in a slot machine and charge it to your sail and sign account. When you are finished playing put whatever is left back on your sail and sign card then take it to the cashier to get the money off of your card.

so.. just so I'm clear on this one too.. if I take $20 from my S&S and put it into a slot machine.. and at $19 want to cash out.. when I take the cash slip to the casino cash counter will I get CASH or money back on my S&S? I think I'd want cash to use in port..

  3. They said that one or more requirements were not met. Really not sure what that means.

I had this same comment on my denial letter too.. just two days ago.. I called and the girl said it was because my specific category - 4J - was now priced HIGHER than a normal interior cabin and that is why mine got denied.. No harm in calling they will explain the reason to you.

  4. The only way to guarantee that your room will be ready at about 9-9:30 AM is to reserve it for the night before and advise them that you'll check in in the morning - but you'll be paying for 2 nights instead of one. :(

As mentioned above, most hotels will be happy to store your bags for a few hours until your room is ready while you hit the pool, grab lunch, etc. Focus on better hotels instead of budget options near MIA.

In early Nov prices should be reasonable - what are you interested in? What is your budget? Travelling with kids? Want to see South Beach?

We'll be staying at the Best Western 3875 nw 107 ave,Miami before the cruise, which is near the airport... but we want to go to the Dolphin Mall for the day. We thought of booking with them for the end of cruise date.. but were not sure if they store luggage.

Was hoping to hear from someone who had this experience.. and can confirm.. :( and also tell us what hotel they used.. :(

I do thank you for your suggestions :)

  5. Since we are staying the night after the cruise on Nov 2nd, we have no idea what to do with our luggage if the hotel does not let us check in before 3-4pm?

Have you any concrete experience with this??

What hotel did you stay at in Miami after your cruise?

Did they let you check in early? Store luggage somewhere?

We are truly hoping to find a hotel that will let us check in early.. not really comfortable with trusting someone with our luggage if we can't check in early.

We know we will be kicked off the ship pretty early :( We want to go to the Dolphin Mall for the day but don't want to be dragging luggage with us..

    thx

  6. I'm just guessing, but is More the merrier different than ES? Are you under a different promotion? Your cruise is soon and after final payment. Just asking:confused:

No. its just that the More = Merrier is now the promo that has the lower price on the carnival.com site.

I did call last night, and lady said my 4j is now actually priced higher than what i paid for my 4j.. so although the overall price for an inside is cheaper, my category is priced higher.. so I don't qualify for obc credit this time round.

  7. I bought my cruise using Early Saver over a yr ago.. I have already gotten some OBC due to price protection with the last obc about 4 wks ago.. now the price has dropped again.. still under the "more = merrier" pricing (which qualifies for price protection) and it was more=merrier that I got the last obc on..

So this morning, I see price dropped again.. so I filled out form, more=merrier again.. but this time, it got declined (??) Should I try a second time? Price is lower by at least $60 so it would be worth it.

    What would you do?

  8. My OBC shows on the 3rd page but it does Not say if it's refundable or non - refundable... The OBC is from our Early Saver price drops, should I assume they're non - refundable?

    (We've already made final payment)

some others will tell you it is a refundable obc.. but if you look over the Early Saver Price Protection form it does say - non-refundable obc.. :)

  9. Cruise food is cruise food. Kind of bland, meh. Not bad, just OK.

    .

I disagree here.. cruise food is NOT all created equal.. NCL food is the worst.. and in my personal opinion Disney is second worst with Carnival and Princess being best. We are huge foodies and cruise for the food first, ports second.. But as with most things in life, its all a matter of opinion.. you have yours, and I have mine.. lol.. :):D

  10.

Does anyone knows about Carnival's hot tub hygiene policy?

I can tell you what we saw on our last cruise.. it was about 1030pm at night and a couple were doing the wild thing.. yep.. full on grind on grind ! Not a word of a lie.. Had to cover my daughters eyes as we walked by.. lol.. Don't think I'll be going in any hottubs anytime soon..

  11. This would be OBC from a price drop by changing room type.

Did you get it through the Early Saver Price Protection form before you changed rooms? If so, I think the Price Protection form says its a non-refundable OBC. .but someone did mention something about a casino trick.. and I can't remember what it was now? but some way that you can put money into a machine, then tell them you don't want to gamble with it, and I think it goes back on your S&S as cash OBC ... I think.. not sure?

  12. I know the drinking age in the US is 21. I know that in some countries the age is lower. How does it work on a cruise ship? Specifically, I am wondering about the NOS sailing out of Galveston? Having only been on one cruise, I never needed to give it any thought but now DD is asking and I do not have the answers.

Can anyone shed some light on this for me? Specifically, I am looking at the 6/7/2015 sailing.

    Thanks in advance.

This applied to my son when he sailed with us last yr.. he was 19.. Here in Canada drinking age in our province is 18.. so he was old enough to drink here.. but could not drink while on the cruiseship as drinking age on the ship is 21.. The three ports we stopped at had drinking age of 18 so he was able to enjoy a drink while in these ports.. Just be sure to have ID for the person who wants to drink.. they asked my son for ID each time and we did have his passport with us so he was fine.

  13. I had my first wheelchair cruise this year.

Tendering was fine for me as I can very slowly and carefully make it several steps and was able to bring my manual wheelchair. Stinks to not be able to drive around on my own and go where I want instead of where my pusher goes, but at least I get to go! So grateful for him!!

In my opinion, you have to be able to stand steady, walk the few steps across the plank onto the boat in order to be certain to make it, and if the water is rough that day, even that could be impossible, depending on your situation.

They did allow me to sit right next to the plank so I didn't have to maneuver around the tender.

Grand Cayman did allow someone to ride theirs right on, and again that is due to the conditions, boat and captain. Do not count on it if you have to use the mobile scooter and cannot make the walk across.

    Good luck!

We will also have our manual wheelchair with us whenever we sail.. but never thought it would be possible to get in and out of the tender boats.. I can walk a straight line about 20-30 feet.. give or take... but can't bend the knee much.. so getting up or down something is near impossible. If getting onto the tender is one straight level then I would be fine with my feet and my manual wheelchair.. but if it means bending the knee to step up onto the boat or bend the knee to step down into a boat I can't do that.. :( I can't even take advantage of free airport shuttles/buses as I can't bend my knee to step up onto the steps getting into a bus/shuttle :(

  14. Sorry to sound like a newb, but I've never understood how the price drops work.. Is it automatic, or do you have to reach out to Carnival or your TA if you see the price has dropped. Thanks for your help!

Several ways.. you can call your TA if you booked with one.. or.. you can call your pvp if you booked direct with Carnival.. or ... you can fill out the price protection online claim form..

  15. I haven't actively looked for the kiosks but I seem to recall one across from the guest services desk. Any price drop is considered a "refundable" OBC. If you don't take it during the cruise either by spending or cashing out (kiosk, casino), you will get it back at the end (or soon thereafter posted to your CC). But you "will" get it back.

This is definitely very good news indeed ! thx

  16. It is a camera!!!

    1. How do you think your cabin steward knows when you leave your room, so they can come in to clean?

    2. So they can snoop on you to see if you're smoking in your cabin or even on your balcony...

    3. It's for the 20th season of "Big Brother at Sea...."

    bahahahaha !! Love #2 .. gooood one.. ;):cool::eek::D

  17. On my recent Dream cruise there was an unusual accessory attached to the front of the cabin tv by Velcro. It looks like it might be a camera.?

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

It is !! Its Big Brother keeping an eye on you making sure you don't get up to any frisky business ! lol.... Actually, probably some hidden camera set up by the room steward so he can sell the ameteur vids to other crew at the end of your cruise.. lol... Just kidding on both counts.. but I'm like you.. and I would be highly suspicious too ..lol

  18. Then book it now. Use your OBC for gratuities or cash out the balance at the Kiosk. Seems pretty simple to me.

"Cash out the balance at the Kiosk..." This is a new term to me.. what does it mean?? I didn't think this could be done? I don't recall any kiosks on my last cruise.. I did see an ATM and I did see a machine where you can check your OBC balance, or add to your OBC acct.. but I don't recall seeing a withdrawl function on there? If OBC is granted through Price Protection I don't think it can be removed as cash right? Unless some loop hole, like in the casino or something? Sure would like that idea as I have more on my granted OBC from Price Protection than what I know I will actually use onboard...

  19. When we got off the boat at 1020 today there were people everywhere. The ovation theatre, all hanging around deck three and five and Lido. I don't think anyone was getting on before noon today the earliest.

Yikes!!! NOT liking the sound of getting embarked late.. :( sniff sniff.. I get sooo excited before our cruise.. and I used to love getting to port nice and early to get onboard nice and early. Really miss that.

  20.

On a final note - I thoroughly enjoyed the diverse crowd that Carnival attracts - from young couples/families to multigenerational and reunion families to Asian / African American / Latinos and middle America. We are a white, middle class family from the Jersey Shore and we loved the culture, style, fun and happiness shared by everyone.

I agree! I love the great mix of people.. :) People are people, equal and same.. :)

  21.

Embarkation was delayed till after 1pm last Sunday. Don't be crazed to get to the port sooo early - get there by 2 and you should get on quickly. We also stayed in our cabin till 10 am this morning. At that point they were only calling tags 1-9 so they were a bit delayed.

Is this the "norm" now? When we last sailed 2012 we were on no later than 1130am.. wow.. 2pm is harsh.. :(
