  1. HeavySurf...........we'll be trying that chocolate covered keylime pie at the Blonde Giraffe in August when we visit Key West on the Celebration.

I saw it on the Food Network "Good Eats" the other night.....very interesting combination, looking forward to trying it.

I'll let you know how it turns out........

I look forward to your comments. We will be in Key West in October on Enchantment OTS and if you give the Blond Giraffe confection a thumbs up. I will give it a try. Afterall, I have been promising myself I would for THREE YEARS and still haven't done it!!!

  2. Has anyone tried Kermit's Key Lime Pie? Or has anyone tried his key lime pie on a stick covered with chocolate? Everytime I go to Key West, I swear I'm going to try these things, but when I get there the heat damps down my appetite.

However, I do wonder which key lime pie is best because both Kermit and Blonde Giraffe make claims of having been voted the best key lime pie in Key West. So one has to wonder which one really does have the superior pie or is it pretty much a matter of what you prefer in key lime pie?

  3. We set out not to gain weight on our cruises. We go to the gym religiously or walk laps on the top deck, play basketball, table tennis, putt putt golf, and climb stairs instead of using the elevator. I wear a pedometer and try for fifteen thousand steps a day, but have reached twenty thousand on the Mariner of the Seas, because it is such a long, long ship.

That said, on our ten day cruise to the Panama Canal on Brilliance of the Seas, I did, in fact, gain weight...five pounds. I think the longer you are on the ship, the harder it becomes to resist the ever present food and drink. Even all the activities we tried didn't help. Plus, for some reason, I became exhausted early on the cruise and developed an energy deficit I couldn't erase. I had to nap every day just to drag around.

While our goal is to not gain, it would be hard to actualy LOSE weight on a cruise. I really envy those above who said they did lose weight. It took me six weeks after the Panama cruise to kick off that five pound weight gain.

  4. When we lived in the Philippines, there was something very similar to the key lime. It was called the kalamansi and made the most wonderful juice. I'm not 100% sure they are the same thing, but they must be quite close.
