  1. We live close to port and are often in Vancouver.

Over the past three seasons we have seen pricing anywhere fron $289-$399 for an inside gty. $499-$599 for an outside gty, sometimes obstructed. Ten day land/cruise have been $899-1099. Within two weeks or so, mid August timeframe. We always watch this pricing. Balconies are harder to get. If available, in the past we have seen them priced from $699/$799 upwards.

Of course it really depends on supply and demand. The trick is to score two...one each way. Our observation has been that HAL and Princess have been the first to drop. Usually on HAL it has been Z'dam. Then NCL and Celebrity. Who knows what it will be this season.

There is one good advantage to booking late-ten days or less (if you can get air as required). Weather. You can take a look at the longer range Alaska weather forecast.

    Hi iancal

I like those prices look good. I hope we can see them this year. We live on Vancouver Island so nice and close to Vancouver.

I'm not sure what you mean by "

The trick is to score two...one each way. "

  2. Hi

I searched the thread and couldn't find anything on this so I will ask the smart cruisers here.

Never been to Alaska but might be able to go this June and won't know if DW can get the time off till end of March.

What's the chances of getting a good price so near to the sailing date? I know Alaska trips sell out quickly as they are very popular. Just want an interior room and really don't care where on the ship. Holland is who I want to go with return Vancouver.

    TIA

  3. I have read that too. My personal experience, three times on the Magic, was that it is a non-issue. Out of all those days/nights I may have heard it two or three times, for less than two or three minutes duration, and it wasn't loud enough to be bothersome.

Whatever you choose, I hope you love it. You simply can't beat the 180 degree view.

Thanks for that info. I will move up a deck next time.

  4. Depending on the direction of travel you will have shade or full sun. You can bring an umbrella but you will not be allowed anything that attaches to any part of the balcony.

I think you picked the wrong cabin because if it's shady on the way out it's going to be sunny on the way back. Hope for cloudy skies.

    Take care,

    Mike

    Hi Mike

Thanks for the reply. DW and I both like it hot, we spend 8 months a year in Thailand, but my Dw's major concern is getting browner. She spends a lot of money , as most asian women do to get lighter skin, so it's the sun for her.

I will just have to keep her in the air conditioned Redfrog pub [emoji6] [emoji6]

  5. From Carnival's FAQ's:

    • Segways
    • Skateboards

    * For the safety of our guests, the collapsible wagon cannot be rolled onto/off the ship during embarkation and debarkation and cannot be rolled off/onto the ship while in port.

  6. Being an "aft rat", I have to be honest in telling you there is little shade during the day. You will learn when it's shadier at certain times.

Some people love aft, aft wraps, and Vista Suites, some hate them.

Our first two cruises were inside, you can guess where the rest were located! ;)

Being this is our first ever cruise I am nervous that I will probably become an "aft rat " like yourself [emoji2]

  7. Another cost saving piece of advice for the Cheers program, is to purchase a Carnival gift card from AARP or another site, and save 10%. In other words, I purchased CCL GC's valued at $100 and paid only $90. I used those to pre-purchase Cheers for our upcoming cruise. So I not only saved $5/day, I also saved 10% on top of that by purchasing the GC's.
    Hi

Does anyone know if there is a company in Canada that would have a discount as above ? I live in BC

  8. FYI, the drone isn't used to take pictures of people, however, it is used to take ariel photos of the beautiful islands we visit. This post is a year old and the legalities have been sorted out. On another note, nobody wants to have YOU in their pictures either while on vacation, but there you are in thousands of photos on every trip you take. OMG:eek:
    Love the reply KP

  9. I've searched and can't find anything about this so here is my question.

Does the Social Wifi plan work well ? My wife would like to just update her Facebook account while we are on our Western Caribbean cruise.

For $4 a day it is not a bad deal but not if it is really hit and miss. Is it better to maybe try and find free WiFi in ports, Cozumel, Belize, Roatan?

    Anyone tried it ?

    TIA
