The Spirit of the Season Atrium Moments is made up of two magical evenings (three on select ships) filled with holiday fun:
Spirit of the Season – Tree Lighting
Tis the season for traditions, loved ones and fun-filled celebrations. Gather your friends and family for our traditional holiday kick off, the lighting of the Christmas tree in the atrium lobby.
This event takes place on the first evening of the cruise on the following ships: Carnival Breeze, Carnival Conquest, Carnival Dream, Carnival Ecstasy, Carnival Freedom, Carnival Glory, Carnival Legend, Carnival Liberty, Carnival Magic, Carnival Spirit, Carnival Splendor, Carnival Victory and Carnival Vista. Hosted by the Cruise Director, a magical moment where the grand Christmas tree will be lit with spectacular lights and synchronized with wonderful, heartwarming holiday music.
What are you wishing for? A football? A pony? More fun vacations? Now's the time to let Santa know! Write out a special message for Santa and drop it in the North Pole mailbox located in the atrium lobby (on all ships) .. and some letters will be read on our live Morning Show.
Spirit of the Season – Let it Snow!
Celebrate the magic of the season with our very own Christmas Carol-infused winter wonderland. Sing-a-long to holiday classics and let it snow. Be on time, the snow melts fast! Due to the atrium décor, the event will take place without snow on the Carnival Breeze, Carnival Sunshine and Carnival Vista.
Spirit of the Season – ‘Tis the Season
Put on your most festive ugly sweater, warm up those vocal chords and gather around to help us welcome the very jolly Santa Claus himself!
Hosted by the Cruise Director and together with the children from Camp Carnival and Camp Ocean, we celebrate the spirit of the holiday season as we combine holiday magic with a little Carnival fun! Guests of all ages are encouraged to bring their ugliest Christmas sweater for this fun competition. And then it’s time to shake your bells and make cheerful noise to welcome in Santa Claus as he makes his way down the glass atrium elevator.
On the Carnival Legend and Carnival Spirit, there will be a crazy, festive holiday hat competion instead of the ugly sweater contest.

Future cruise credits are issued in the name of the original payee, regardless of whether they were ever booked in the cancelled reservation. For bookings paid with a travel agency credit card or check, the cruise credit will then be issued in the name of the cancelled guest.
-
Where did you find this info? I've been googling and searching CCL website and can't find specific info. Wondering specifically about the * next to some dates...doesn't give an explanation.
This is the link, scroll down to Christmas and then click on the hyperlink

Overlook the asterisks, when cut n pasting it's a formatting issue and * show up.

You have 24 hours after notification to get a full refund, since this is clearly within Carnival's control.
ITINERARY CHANGE PRIOR TO DEPARTURE:
If Carnival has adequate notice prior to sailing that a vessel will deviate from the published itinerary it will promptly – upon making the itinerary change -- notify guests of the change through their travel agents or directly, in the case of a direct guest booking.
If the itinerary change is for reasons within Carnival’s exclusive control, guests will have the opportunity to cancel their booking without penalty prior to sailing and within 24 hours of the guest notification, and in such an instance, guests will have the option to receive either a cash refund or a future cruise credit. In the event a guest does not cancel the cruise on a timely basis, no refund of any kind will be available.
Due to the nature of a cruise vacation, itinerary changes sometimes become necessary for safety, weather or other reasons beyond the control of Carnival. If the itinerary change is for reasons beyond Carnival’s exclusive control, including but not limited to safety, security, weather, strikes, tides, hostilities, civil unrest, port closings, emergency debarkations of guests or crew, late air, sea, car or motor coach departures or arrivals, mechanical breakdowns or problems not known to Carnival, itinerary changes consistent with U.S. State Department travel warnings / advisories or other applicable US or foreign governmental advisories, guests will not be provided any compensation. Guests electing to cancel will be subject to the standard cancellation terms. ************

You can bring back as much as you want. The question is at what point they will charge you for the extra bottles.

It's up to each member to set select their time zone and if their location observes DST. It would be very confusing if they had one set time .

Perks if you show your boarding pass
-
-
If it's still available you can
They even have a rate called early saver last call
More info
Early Saver is available up to 3 months prior to sailing for short cruises (3-5 days) and 5 months prior to sailing for long cruises (6 days and longer). Early Saver guests are eligible for price protection up to 2 business days prior to sailing. On select sailings, the extension will be accomplished by introducing Early Saver Last Call which will follow the same guidelines as Early Saver. Simultaneously, Early Saver will close at 3 and 5 months prior to sailing, while Early Saver Last Call will become available (capacity controlled).
-
Hard to really say which is "better" depends on your circumstances and if you are 100% sure you are going to be able to cruise on that sailing.
Often it makes sense to book under one rate and then switch to ES when your plans are more concrete.
I won't book ES unless the savings is $50 or more, which is the amount of the penalty if I have to cancel. That's just my rule of thumb.
-
Early saver is very restrictive, make sure you understand that you face penalties if you change or cancel the cruise.
