  1. I read a couple of the letters that people received in their staterooms on the past couple of days and posted on Royal Caribbean Blog regarding the cancellation of all cruise excursions that require the use of "tourist ferries." Letter states that money for cruise excursions is being refunded as onboard credit which can be used to book another excursion, etc. Does not say that people are being refunded. There are a lot of excursions that require travel to the mainland of Playa Mia, not just Mayan ruins. We did the Rio Secreto excursion last time we were in Cozumel and 4 of the 14 family members that we are traveling with at the end of March were also hoping to do it. When I checked my cruise planner, I notice that cruise excursions to the main land are still available for purchase. I think they will have something worked out by the end of the year, but it is unfortunate timing after the recent tour bus accident which killed 12.

  2. OMG!!! I've been gone too long! I love my coffee and fruit/pastries in the morning while on the deck... for $7.95 plus 18% gratuity! I thought there was only a charge after midnight or something like that.

Coffee and pastries are still free in the morning. Hot breakfast and other meals have a service charge.

  3. Is this the newer version of Zicam Nasal Swabs? They had an earlier version that was very effective for me but they took it off the market as it hurt some people's sense of smell.

I guess I don't know the answer to that. I would have to check the dates of the two double-blind studies against when that version was taken off the market. I use the current ones that are sold and they work beautifully for me. I won't be without them in my cupboard.

  4. I would not waste your money on tamiflu it may decrease symptoms by a day....it only comes in name brand and costs a fortune. The flu is a virus like the cold and tamiflu likely does nothing. Your best bet is hand washing and hoping people cover their mouths when they cough or sneeze.

Agreed. Tamiflu is a sham. There is no credible science to back it up and yet it's peddled as a miracle drug.

  5. Grab a box of Zicam nasal swabs. I worked at a medical school with a researcher for the past several years. I'm now at a hospital. There are two credible double-blind studies that Zicam (nasal swabs, NOT the lozenges) reduce symptoms from 9 days to 2.5 if you start using them right away. I always have some on hand now. I will use them 3-4 times per day as soon as I feel that anything is coming on. Never fails me.

  6. I just printed out my hospital's new policy on service animals to review with staff. It only allows for dogs and miniature horses. I had to google service horses and it's legit, so I thought I would bring a miniature horse on my next cruise to see if I can get away with it. ;p

BTW, due to HIPAA, we are barred from asking for details regarding a person's disability and their need for a service animal.

  7. I enjoy Roatan. Pretty island with good zip-lining and beaches! Look into touring with Victor Bodden or going to Little French Key.

    Enjoy your trip!

I second Victor Boden in Roatan. Ask for Jerry if he is still around. We paid $80 total for a private full-day tour of the island, got to see a grocery store which was fun, and took Jerry out to lunch. He was very patient with explaining the culture of the island and even showed us where he lives with his wife and five kids. He was thinking of starting his own tour business when were there last February. He would do well. I also loved Belize but I haven't been to Cayman or Jamaica yet, that is the next cruise.

  8. meaning all passengers traveling to the U.S. must check-in with airline personnel for a security interview. "They asked me if I packed my own bag, where I packed it from, where I came from, they looked at my itinerary, verify where I was, who I was," Fran Young, who was traveling from Hong Kong to Los Angeles, told Time.who was traveling

As an American, I have been asked these questions for all domestic flights for as long as I can remember. No change from my perspective.

  9. Smoking allowed on the outside of the starboard side of decks 4, 11, and 12.

Yup, that was the information I had pre-cruise but on my sailing smoking was on the port side. The only place the smoke bothered me was on deck 4, the casino and the Schooner Lounge just outside of the casino specifically so I avoided them. I can only speak for the actual sailing I was on. I am NOT a seasoned cruiser ... YET. :)

  10. We've decided to splurge and get the Deluxe Drink Package. My question is, does that include the contents of the mini-fridge in our state room? If basically everything ( up to $12) is included in the deluxe package, why wouldn't that include the mini-fridge? Thanks!

I don't think they stock the fridges any longer, but I can tell you that it does NOT include the two bottles of Evian that will be left on a shelf in your cabin.

  11. 2017 outside smoking areas?

When I went February 2017, smoking areas were port side of deck 11 (pool), and an indoor area of the casino. If you are sensitive, stay away from Deck 4 in general. I found the smoke from the casino drifted out into other areas on this deck. Otherwise, it never bothered me much.

I never had a problem on my balcony. We were deck 12 forward.

    Have fun!
