  1. They will not always wait for you, but they will always accommodate you.

I was on an Alaskan cruise on Royal Caribbean back in 2006 and some people were on a dog sledding excursion where they flew you into the glacier by helicopter. The weather turned and they couldn't get off the glacier; the ship left and the next day they flew them to the next port of call to meet up with the ship after spending the night on the glacier with the Eskimos.

Now that's what I call an excursion!

I wish I could be this lucky. How freakin' cool! Memory of a lifetime.

  2. Try Bodden Tours where you can have a car and driver for the day. They will design the tour around what you request. The island is nice just for a pretty drive and you can include lunch, shopping, etc.

    Enjoy Roatan!

I second this. Ask for Jerry if he is still there. He was working on setting up his own company back in February. You get a private driver to take you around the island and can get out wherever you want. Jerry was great! He took me to a local grocery store which was interesting, to get souvenirs for my kids, the cameo factory and even showed us his house. Can't beat the deal either. We learned a lot about the culture of the island from him. $40 per person for a private car and driver! We got to meet Victor personally at the pier. Great communication prior to cruise via email from Victor as well.

  3. I've read many reports here that say the regular coffee is not bad, especially from the Main Dining Room.

IMO - Dining room (good), Promenade non espresso black coffee (okay), Windjammer (pass if you can). Keep in mind that I like good strong black coffee. Others will have their own preference. Also, this was on Liberty for what it's worth. :)

  4. I imagine this depends on which airport you will be flying out of and what time of year. My personal experience is that we made a 4:00 PM flight out of IAH with only 5 minutes to spare in Feb 2017. This is because fog delayed the ship entering port and we were not allowed off of the ship until 1:00 PM. We were the lucky ones. Most of the people we met on the ship had to rebook their missed flights. Also keep in mind the amount of time it will take to clear customs. We had very long lines.

  5. Family of 16 is flying to Fort Lauderdale for a cruise next March. Some of us live in North Dakota, some in California, and some in Manitoba. The 8 flying out of Winnipeg got a direct flight for way cheaper than anything I could find on the south side of the border. I'm still watching for price drops for the rest of us who have yet to book.

  6. You're welcome.

Have you considered doing Alcatraz on your own? You are right right by where the ferry leaves from. You can buy tickets online before you leave but I would check now, because they sell out quickly.

You could then find just a hop on hop off to do.

    Would probably be cheaper.

Still tickets available for early ferry to Alcatraz if you are on September 25th sailing.

    I second this idea.

As a former native to this area. When you return from Alcatraz, the Embarcadero is very walkable if you would like to see the Ferry Building, the Exploratorium, and Fisherman's Wharf. China Town is also a walkable distance.

Another option is to do the hop on and off tour which gives you a little more flexibility to see things on your own time. Busses travel around a loop regularly and you get on and off when you feel like it.

  7. Thanks. An inconvenience for innocent travelers from listed states with the higher cost of passport as ID.

Talk to your state legislature. They are the ones who have made this possible for you. They knew about the requirements well in advance and refused to comply siting privacy concerns for their state's citizens. Now that the deadline is here, they are all scrambling to come up with a solution.
