We’re back!  And we’re headed to the Med!🛳️

We embark on the Celebrity Infinity in a week’s time and it’s gonna be a scorcher!  This time, we are celebrating our mom’s 65th birthday.  I’ve got a few things planned-not for every port though.  We hope to have a few relaxing days, but most importantly, we are here to try ALL the foods!  This is probably the most excited I’ve been for food on a trip.  So brace yourself for food pics, snack pics, dessert pics, and more food pics. 😉

This thread will act as a journal for our trip so we can look back and remember all the good times had. 🤩

I plan to provide lots of helpful tips and tricks along the way, too.  And if you have any tips and tricks for any of our ports, do tell!  We have not been to any of the ports on this itinerary.

I hope you will join us on this adventure.  Sit back, relax, and get ready to explore all Greece has to offer! (Hopefully you will be following along from somewhere a bit cooler than what we are about to experience!) ☀️

Have a wonderful time and thanks for taking us along.

A few years ago we did a similar itinerary with Celebrity (Equinox) and had a great time.

Based on crew recommendations we ate at a Greek seafood restaurant at the base of the tram (to the left when looking at the tram) and close to the dock with the tenders.  The name escapes me but there were tables along the edge of the water.  They actually cooked the fish (we got the "everything" broiled platter 🙂 ) straight from the water--it was one of the best meals we had in Greece.

  2. Call immediately and explain the situation.  If agent cannot fix it for you then ask for an email to be sent to you that states when you do rebook that the special price will be made for you.  If you are staying in a suite then call the retreat on-shore concierge and they should be able to do this for you.

This happened to me with a Dinner on the Edge reservation where the price was lowered.  I canceled my original reservation and in less than 15 seconds went to rebook and was blocked.  I tried a few times and then reached out to the on-shore retreat concierge.  She, too, couldn't reserve the special price and sent a letter to the ship to make the reservation with the lower price.  I asked that she send me an email specifying the reservation and new price and she did.

In closing, if you do speak with anyone, document date and time and name.  If you are staying in the retreat I do not have the phone number with me (I'm at work🙃) to give you  now.

Thanks and thank you for reading.

We spent two and a half days/three nights in Milan. We stayed near the Central Train Station as we arrived by train and needed to get the train to the airport at 6.15am. The hotel was good but the area around the train station is a business district so there weren't many restaurants or places to eat. If we were in Milan again we would stay in a more central area.

We used the Metro and it was easy and inexpensive to use. We also walked a lot as we were a few km from the central area.

We found Milan to be a typical large city and it was very busy. We love Rome and Istanbul but for some reason didn't enjoy Milan as much.

We went to see Leonardo da Vinci's The Last Supper which was wonderful and the adjoining church and cloister were also well worth seeing. We liked the area it was in which was residential with lovely apartment buildings. I pre purchased the tickets online for The Last Supper as the tickets are released every three months and sell out extremely quickly as only 35 visitors can view The Last Supper every 15 minutes.

A short walk from The Last Supper is the Castello Sforzesco. We only walked through the courtyards but there are museums to visit. Behind the castle is Parco Sempione a lovely park to stroll through and at the far end is Arco della Pace.

We also visited the Milan Cathedral which is magnificent. I also pre purchased the tickets online to save waiting in the ticket line. We were able to enter the Cathedral directly at our time slot.

We also visited Galleria Vittorio Emanuele ll a beautiful shopping arcade with very expensive stores.

Milan is known for its fashion and shopping and the shopping areas were very crowded.

Hope this helps you a little but please feel free to ask me any questions.

Thank you so much!  It does help as we plan on staying for about 5 days in February after 5 days in Paris.  We will be using it as a base to take day trips to Verona and Genoa and ?  I wasn't quite sure about spending time in Milan itself, but I think we will devote a day or more.  Food tour anyone? 🙂

  4. Like Jim, I scout itineraries and pricing and book my own cruise.  Then, I will transfer it to my big box store (begins with "C") TA.  I get an amazing shop card amount and an occasional group discount in the form of OBC.  I also get a percentage in the money back for my end of the year renewal.  It is inherent upon me to continue to monitor price drops and promotions.

On another note, when using a big box store, I am unable to apply for a move-up bid.

  5. I have received surveys in the past, not related to a previous cruise, which asked questions regarding tipping, retreat access, if I would continue to sail with Celebrity and a few other issues.  Perhaps, that is what she is referring to.

  6. Thank you for sharing your voyage with us.

I was wondering if you had to get a specific cab to get you from your Barcelona hotel to the ship?  I know that in Civitavecchia, cabs/vans need a special permit to get to the ship.

Also, even though you are in an upper level suite, Craft Social is not categorized as a restaurant.  Were you DH and OS charged for the food?

That can be a little tougher as I know from previous experience that it can be subjective on what the bartenders “overlook” when in a “upper” suite.

i have ordered $17 wines and not be charged but I don’t know if that is considered part of the premium package as I am not a wine conisseur and tend to drink whatever is listed on the main portion of the menu.

I had the “forbidden” in Eden last night which is $20 and was charged the $3 up charge, but yet when I was in Eden in the same suite type 2 yrs ago I wasn’t which is why it’s not reliable to say.

i do not visit the Luminea often as i have unlimited specialty but will try to remember to take a picture for you next time I go.As far as Retreat staff what would u like to know?

you question is a little too broad for me to  answer 😁

i had Le Voyage last night and even being in an upper suite they wanted to charge $50 for the tastings menu and $110 for the wine pairing with tasting menu. I did not do as the offering did not look appealing for the extra cost.

that reminds me of another overlook on last ship,

Eden I had the tastings menu but was not charged, let’s see what they say when I go there in a couple nights.

Thank you for taking us along and answering questions.  First and foremost, have a wonderful time.  Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy.

We will be (first time) in an Edge Villa next year (Ascent).  Which level was your luggage delivered?  I thought that Le Voyage was included in the unlimited specialty dining--or was it just the special menus that aren't?  Is it noisy being next to the Retreat Sundeck?

  8. For those who have cruised on Solstice, it seems from what I read that it is the only Solstice class ship that doesn't have the same restaurants as the others (Silhouette, Equinox).  The available restaurants seem more in keeping with Millennium series.  Please confirm.

  9. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to ask questions.  We appreciate the time you put in to continue to make Celebrity a great company--one that we will continue to use to enjoy the high and low seas😁.

Do you foresee adding new itineraries to your roster for the ships?  Such as Africa, more ships to go to Coco Cay with more days at sea/ports, other Caribbean islands?
