  1. To sum it up. Many (most? all?) HAL ships have at least one sign asking that passengers refrain from jogging / running on the promenade deck. Even cruisetrail has admitted that he saw one.

Despite that, some people still choose to jog / run on the promenade deck.

Chances are pretty good that the ships crew will not say anything to you if you choose to jog / run.

Each passenger will make a choice.

  2. That's interesting. I will pay attention to this.

I did not see that on the Nieuw Amsterdam in November.

Sure I will do on the promenade what I usually do.

You say you will pay attention. How many signs would there have to be, how big would they need to be and where would they have to be placed in order for you to refrain from jogging / running on the promenade deck?

  3. True, no one cares if you are walking there; there are no walking restrictions. When I was on Eurodam, there were clearly posted signs restricting running on the Promenade. There were no posted exceptions. It is an individual decision to heed or not.

I agree with the above. My last three cruises (Noordam, Zaandam, and Eurodam) I made it a point to check for the signs. They do exist. They are, however, kinda small. They contain arrows captioned forward and aft, advise slippery when wet and no jogging.

Your choice as to compliance. Like many things aboard the ship, enforcement is lax -- the crew does not want any confrontation.

  4. Oh that's encouraging - it would indicate that she did indeed share that information with you for the new site.

Actually, I knew that jtl513 had provided that information and contacted him off board and he provided it to me. He also said that retiredmustang had provided the information for either the R or S class ships. When I saw retiredmustang post on the other thread I asked him about it, and he replied with his information on that thread.

  5. When we send stateroom pictures to you, is it possible to have some sort of response(maybe automatic) indicating that you have received the email.

I sent some pictures, but not sure if you received them and don't want to bother you by asking.

I usually don't look at that account until I am ready to do updates. Your pictures arrived after I finished the last set. I have been sending "thank you" replies after the cabin has been added to the site.

  6. While fix'n links, you may want to note that zuiderdam 8140 photos were taken in June 2013.

This information has been added, thanks.

In another thread http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?p=41418980#post41418980 IRL_Joanie suggests that halfacts.com has wifi location info. Have great bits of info been shared from that great-but-now-defunct cabin photo website?

I will be doing updates this weekend and will include the wifi locations

  7. Please excuse my ignorance. I don't understand why all the Vista cabins are in the same list. Is it because the cabins are all numbered identically?

With just a very few exceptions all four ships of each class are identical, therefore 7065 on the Noordam would show what 7065 on the Zuiderdam, Oosterdam and Westerdam would look like.

When, like in the case of Vista Class 4010, there are pictures of more than one ship both are shown

  8. By any chance, is one of the two exceptions, the pictures of Eurodam 4131? I sent those in a separate email than my Ryndam pictures which did get posted to the site. I don't want to fill up your mailbox by sending them again if you did receive them.

Eurodam 4131 has now been added - Sorry I had just done a bunch and just didn't get to it.

I sent some photos of Ryndam 035 on January 11 - perhaps you didn't receive them, or I didn't put my name on them? Don't see them on halfacts. Should I send them again?

You sent 5 emails with titles 035 Ryndam, 053 Ryndam, 053 Ryndam, 035 Ryndam and 053 Ryndam. I went with the three out of five. If it is 035 let me know and I will change it.

  9. RJC (Rick, Jacqui, Chris),

I sent you a boatload (hah!) of photos today, and will send more from my Eurodam 2013 Northern Atlantic TA as soon as I sort them out. But, I noticed that on some of the sections of the great new site that you have daily programs and menus. Do you want those as well? On that 2013 Eurodam TA, I posted daily skeds and menus -- do you want those files? (OK, it may have been a bit of overkill on my live blog, but people on these boards in the past seemed to want that info about various cruises, so I included them.)

    Dave

Dave - in an earlier post jtl513 said you were responsible for the wifi locations on either the R or S Class ships -- may we include those?

    Thanks

    Rich

  10. Go to http://www.wa70.com/hal/dining/llS.jpg to count the number of tables for 10. (Click to zoom in) I think there's seven: 134, 135, 140, 141, 307, 308, 309.

I think unless you make a reservation for the full table, I'd guess that your chances of sitting together are pretty slim no matter how long you wait.

John -- I got updated dining room maps and they are now on the HALFACTS.com pages for the different classes. The map for the Statendam is at http://halfacts.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/SADM.pdf

  11. Bug report: The link for the Eurodam menu item goes to /vista-class/ :)

Thanks for the report - we will get it fixed

None of the pictures from the old site can be used?

In the thread in which we discussed this the general consensus was that it would be better to have the pictures submitted to us.

Also: Yes, I wonder if cruisetrail will grant permission to use some of his photos from the "Grand Tour" thread.

We would be happy to include them if given permission

  12. Attached an attempt of a corrected layout, I tried to insert the extra 2 person tables in the far port and starboard corners, the one on port side is definitely table number 316 (been there), also removed the 7, 8, 13 and 14 attendant stations and inserted tables in the position of 1 and 8, of which I am sure, table number for port side is 28, starboard side unknown, I do not know wat table setting has come in stead of station 13 and 14.

Hi Alphen -- your attachment came thru too small for me to work with. Could you email it to me please (email in sig)

    Thanks

    Rich

  13. Would someone please post the link to the seating chart for the upper dining room on the Rotterdam? Would you also please indicate if all the R class ships use the same numbers? That would be the Rotterdam, Volendam, Zaandam and the Amsterdam.

    Thanks,

    brainyblonde

A link to the dining room charts can be found at http://www.halfacts.com.

As far as has been reported, all ships of a given class share the same table numbers.

  14. If you do this before the final payment date it is simply the difference between what you paid and the new rate, because you can always cancel and rebook with no penalty. I've done this a couple of times.

For a price drop after final payment date, each case is handled individually depending on what cabins are available. You might get a free upgrade to the category then selling for what you paid, you might get OBCs, you might be able to pay the 200 difference, and you might get nothing.

    ...

Thank you for your response. I'm still brainstorming on what is best to do. Taking an interior for a good price and possibly been stuck with it or waiting until another category becomes affordable.

John, I don't know if you noticed the OP is from Holland. You quoted US rules for cancel and rebook which are not necessarily the same in Europe as in British passengers lose their deposit if they cancel.
