  1. Sadly Grand Cayman was canceled due to unfavorable conditions for tendering. The sea is choppy and I would’t like to tender. I found it really interesting to drive up and back as well, the terrain is very lush. I also liked the view of the towns on the way and get a picture of life on the island. Appleton Estate and tasting pics:
  2. Welcome to Montego Bay, Jamaica! We had an early start with our tour. I’ll try to post some photos later. They have to be transferred off of my camera. Yesterday evening I went to Crown Grill: I had the Black and Blue Onion soup. Very cheesy! It was a tad awkward to eat, but very tasty. For the main, I had Grilled Jumbo Prawns in Whiskey, Chili, and Garlic Marinade. This was a little too salty for me. I had the grilled asparagus on the side which helped temper it. Key Lime Pie Bar for dessert. The service was good for was busy as it was. I could hardly eat breakfast. I think I was still stuffed. πŸ˜€ Appleton was fun but a long back and forth. We had a jerk chicken lunch included so it was good to get some local flavors. More later on that! PM
  3. Sea Day stuff: Laps of the Promenade. They are always busy painting and removing rust. Enrichment: Face-to-Face with a Shark was entertaining and I learned something. Getting the champagne fountain ready - I’m impressed how fast they are putting it together. I have an early morning with my excursion in Montego Bay. I will likely miss the show. And they started piping in Christmas music. πŸŽ„
  4. I’ve seen some kids, but not a lot, maybe 50-100 on a full ship. There are lines, but at least yesterday, Palm seemed better. I can check before dinner. Tonight is Crown Grill and Thurs. is Sabatini’s. πŸ˜€ They had NFL when it was on, I saw they had Barbie, Christmas with the Kranks, a Downton Abbey, Uncharted, a pretty broad range of choices. I used the Ocean Now for the room and it was timely. On deck it isn’t working so hot, they are overwhelmed. PM
  5. Sea day! I’m trying to remember to ask about the passenger count. The lido is busy, but there are places to sit. A cool cat by Explorers Lounge: Some sea day views, the last pool: That is Cuba:
  6. Dining rooms: at about 6 pm both Coral and Island had lines, in both the β€œreservation” and not. Palm was definitely quieter, but I don’t know how it compares size-wise. PM
  7. Kids’ water table has famous places: This is one of the β€œFriendly Manatee” sculptures in the Lido area elevators:
  8. I’ll ask about the number on board. It seems pretty full. I wasn’t so pleased with the boarding. They need to divide Green Lane, Blue Lane, and disabled more cleanly. Most were blue, and they came around and asked for Green, like myself, and we were moved a bit forward. The security alternated between Green and Blue. It might have been better to just make one lane Green. I have the reserve dining, but will peek and see. I have heard the Palm Dining room is quieter. PM
  9. Today is Princess Cays! The other ports are Montego Bay, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel. There are some spots of rain around - decks were wet this morning. Lido Deck Artwork: The beach: I cannot remember if this was here 2 years ago, but it looks like a pier: I got a better look at that ship last night, it was Holland America. PM
  10. I liked Doug Funk! I need a good laugh now and again. Now in Explorers lounge and they sung β€œDecember, 1963” and I only can remember the French version: https://youtu.be/Oei7OKqadS8?si=WWW7ktNs69ew-8o3
  11. Sorry I am so slow! Met some nice people, chatted and got dinner in the MDR. Now at the late comedy show with Doug Funk. I’m interested to see how it fills up. Some views: sail away: Beaches for miles: I like to photograph nearby ships in the dark, does anyone recognize this one? Pretty tree!
  12. I haven't done much posting from my phone, sorry, I'm resorting to my computer. Ignore post 12 since I can't seem to delete the text, etc. Arrived at the port at about 11:00, left a bag with the porter. Boarding wasn't as smooth as last time, long long line. We also had twice the number of people. I got to the port and joined the line. Eventually someone came and said if we had medallions to follow her. They were boarding when I was done, so I got right on about 11:30. Lunch was in MDR, done in half an hour. Just advised my stateroom is ready. I'll post more later!
  13. To add more devices they quoted $170. In the end, I will use the wines and the SD.
  14. Hi friends, Currently I am awaiting my flight from EWR to FLL, so this seemed like a good time to start this. Expect this to be pretty tame. My dear daughter requested that I FB message her about my cruise - with pictures, and I thought that it would also be good to do a parallel thread here, using the pictures I take for her. I will do my best to post frequently, but I am not a blogger. I booked this in August, got a good deal. I originally booked a Reserve Mini and bid on an upgrade. I got lucky (since it appeared sold out) and wound up in a Vista suite in the upgrade process. I also upgraded my Plus Package to Premier for the multiple device internet, so I am taking full advantage of it. I've been on CB before, almost 2 years ago. I am eager to see her again. I had a great time in 2022. All the best, PM
  15. Hi PapaGoose, That is correct, it is for two people. The prices usually scale with what you are bidding up from, at least that is my experience with NCL. You also have a longer cruise, so $450 pp really doesn’t sound bad to me. I would love to do a 14-day like yours! South America is on my cruise bucket list, and a balcony sounds sweet. πŸ˜€ PM
  16. Hi PapaGoose, I think I was weak to fair. Minimum was $600. I just upped it to what I thought it was worth. They actually sent a message that I was outbid, but I guess something opened up. PM
  17. Won a bid on CB from Reserve Mini to Vista for $710. I was resigned to not getting anything since it is mostly a sold out ship, so it seems a bit surreal. PM
