  1. Look at it this way. Who ever signs for the under 21 may be responsible for what the young adult does. It is a way for NCL to some what police who can drink at an earlier age.

Even if the form does say they are responsible for the young adult it allows an older adult to decide if the young adult is ready or not and it is a parent who knows the young adult making that choice.

  2. We were on the Escape last summer with a ton of kids on board but we never waited more than maybe 15 mins.

The only time there was a decent wait was signing them up the first day because they took the time to get to know you and your kids and as such had a ton of questions. That was maybe an hour but that hour was waiting and the time they spent with us. Since we were signing up two we got asked the questions twice

  3. Oh so you can't do an adults dinner because the clubs are not open? When you say sessions did you have to sign up for things ahead of time or could you just drop off whenever? Thanks for the info!

You will have to sign up the first time....We did it right after getting on board. They will ask you a bunch of questions about you and your kids and then give them a wrist band they must wear the whole cruise...or atleast as long as you plan on sending to the kids club. After that you can drop off during open hours.

The sessions are basically an AM, Afternoon and Evening session. They will hae a schedule they will give you for each age range saying what they will be doing and when I want to say the AM session ran 9-11. You had to pick up by 11. From 1 until 1 they are closed for lunch. Then they opened again at 1 and ran until 5. Again you had to pick up by 5 pm. They would then be closed until 7 pm. At 7 they would open and run until I believe 10 pm. After 10 pm was late night and as long as there are ids in there they stay open until roughly 1 am I believe. If all the kids are gone after 11 they would close for the night. After 10 you also had to pay...was not much but still had an hourly rate.

All in all during lunch and early dinner times are when you will always have your kids. There is usually a line at the open times, however you check in pretty quickly usually 5-15 minutes tops Our issue was that my wife and I are not the type that stay out late and the kids go to bed pretty early....so we usually did the early shows that start at 7:30 and then get the kids after it. Since the doors to the theater open at 7 and the kids club also open at 7 that only gives you 30 minutes and of course the seating fills up quickly. If they are packed they start letting in standby line in at 7:20 Usually one of us went and saved the seats while the other ran to drop the kids off Lucky too, because it was usually after 7:20 by the time the other made it back . Since the older was at the sports court at night it mean running to deck 5 to drop he younger on off then up to 18 and finally back deck 7 to the theater.

  4. Thank you so much for your input! How old were your kids? Did they like the kids club? Did you get any kid free time? I’m sure it will be a bit different for our kids used to Disney but I hope I’m pleasantly surprised.
My kids were 8 and 10. They went to most of the sessions. Older one had teen club Takeover in the am which he liked a lot and they usually went to the sports court in the evening.

Young one loved his sessions and asked to stay longer a few times because he has so much fun. He never wanted to leave early

Only down side is they close at lunch and dinner times so you had a window you had to plan Meals around. Also they opened at night at the same time as the early show so you had to rush to get them checked in and still make the early shows

  5. We had an aft haven cabin on the escape last summer and it was not bad having to walk the length of the ship. Only about 2 min walk. Having the huge after balcony was great. We had our kids so we spent a lot of time outside of the Haven anyway. If we wanted food from the Haven restaurant the butler would bring it to us if we wanted it.

Also if your kids go to the kids club you are going to the lower decks mid ship anyway

  6. Part of the issue is that the shop is moving all the time. Some times of the year they may be in Europe others in Alaska and yet others in the Caribbean just to name a few. A lot of satellites now use beam forming too. Where you get one station when in a certain area and another just a few hundred miles away. Those who have satellite TV, think how can a cable channel show you a commercial for a local owned business on a nationwide channel. Again they beam different commercials to different areas.

Since cruise lines usually sign deals for fleet wide access they may only have a limited selection of what they can get and not have to keep changing channel line ups. Licensing to show the channels also can be limited to where it can be shown too

  7. I’ve never seen that, I’ve had kids in the 10 - 12 year old program and have never heard of it happening. I think I’ve heard of the counselors bringing them to the teen club when the teens weren’t there.
On the Escape they did take the 10-12 year old to the teen club in the morning. I believe mainly because it was dead as most teens sleep in. Only saw the 10-12 years in there at that time.

  8. I'm not looking to cheat the system but if they are giving them to me without charge, I'll be ok with it.

I don't think I'll buy her the soda package as she likes the buffet drinks that are listed above.

With us we never asked about it. My wife and I rarely drink but had the UBP included with our fair. Our kids liked what we ordered and started asking for the same thing. I did not even think about it and let them order them. It was not until after the cruise I learned that the virgin frozen drinks were not a part of the soda package but learned a lot of the time NCL did not charge for them when ordered together such as at lunch or dinner. I always order them a soda package. Figure why worry about it. We are on vacation and if they order more then normal it is not going to matter. If they order fewer then yes NCL got a little more but to me not worrying about costs is worth a few extra dollars a day

  9. Sometimes you will luck out. If we ordered drinks as a family on the Escape this past summer they never charged our kids for virgin versions of the drinks. They may have just used the two drinks per person to get around it however they also only used my card to ring it up. Not sure if they would have done that if we all didn't have drink packages. Happened every time we ordered together all over the ship.

  10. I think many are missing the OP's point. He is complaining about how NCL talked to him. I agree with some above in that I wouldn't complain at all to NCL about the issue but because he called and did talk to NCL we all don't know the tone of the NCL rep or everything that was said between the two. The OP did say they just wanted to vent

  11. Most drones are very light weight and can not carry a lot so in most cases cannot do much damage. True they can fly high but there is what is known as terminal velocity and at a point the height really does not matter because gravity can only make an item fall so fast. If a terrorist wanted to do something like that they could do more harm throwing things from the top deck of a ship. Most things will hit terminal velocity is less then 100 feet.

Those who are afraid of bombs I am sure a terrorist could do more damage without a drone.

  12. Would not consider the Haven on NCL or any other mass market ship.

I simply patronize Oceania, the entire ship is in fact a haven. From the amazing service, to the outstanding food in every venue to the quiet environment. No need to hid from anyone and anything on Oceania. It is a class operation all the way. The guests are very consistent in their travel experience, dress, social demeanor and their focus on good food and wine.

In fact the premium lines can be less expensive than suites and havens on the mass lines.

It appears to me that customers on mass lines are reacting to the overhyping/making people feel more important than others strategy deployed by the mass cruise lines. Customers are spending significant $ on suites/havens to hide from the lesser standards/people elsewhere on the ship.

If you want a suite/haven experience, simply patronize Oceania. Azamara, Viking.

To me Oceania and the like are too snooty for me. When I am on a Vacation I don't want to dress up and have to wear a jacket and tie to dinner. I am the type that is well off but you would not know it. I treat everyone as an equal and melt in to society as a whole. That's why I love the Haven. I can be a normal every day person yet walk into a special area when I just want to get away

  13. I understand the price that some people are talking about. I have a Haven 2 bedroom cabin on the Bliss this summer and it is $18000 for 5 of us. As with other cabins the first two get hit. The fair for my wife and I was $16000 of that $18000.

The big advantage is the cabin size for me and just being pampered and treated special. We are far from living like this day to day but can afford it once a year for 7 days.

  14. I also saw a group at the Haven pool call their butler and he delivered pizza, burgers and other items to them at the Haven pool. You have a cordless phone you can carry and use anywhere on board so if you want to carry it you can reach the butler anywhere you are at.

The biggest things we liked was having tea and lemonade In pitchers in our frig and getting snacks every afternoon. The butler noticed the cookies always disappeared so he just kept bring them and increasing the number of cookies.

  15. It cost me 100.00 to put our passports on a flight from Ohio to Orlando a few years ago. Package missed the connecting flight in Atlanta so didn't get to Orlando until 10:30 at night.

Made for a very long day[emoji23][emoji23][emoji23].

That's true it is not cheap. Depending on which airline you use you may get a direct. When I did it I Checked all airlines and found the flight I wanted and then checked how soon before the flight I had to drop it off.

They may challenge you too because very few items meet the weight limit.

  16. Some airlines offer a package delivery service. For a fee, they can get a package (i.e. your passport) on a plane to you to Miami some time today if the stars align and you have people able to get the package to an airport in time to make a flight that works. You would have to pick it up at the airport in Miami and then get back to port in time for departure.
Most airline will do this, however it is just a few ounces. Heavier stuff you need to use an expeditor. Luckily passports are light enough. Just ask for next flight out.

  17. Odds are they may be the same. Without giving anything important away, on the escape you had to find words and you had things like posters to look at, a small hand held maze. Some carnival games and some scarfs.

Hopefully that may have told you enough without giving away anything. Using the same props would really limit what they could do.

  18. Someone with the authority to make an exception is not the same as someone taking it upon themself to make an exception.
No one of this site can tl who has authority or not. Each captain has final say and they can also deligate that further down. It is not like every exception needs to reach the CEO.

Companies also rarely post exceptions to websites as it can become to complex and hard to maintain.

With that said. Talking to a management level person with security who is responsible in keeping things off the ship is good enough for me. They are not going to risk their job by saying yes when those above them told them no. They know if they or who above them has that ability. In fact the first person in security I asked referred me to a person above them.
