Yes,I know some people find it a pain for just one evening but I just look at it as another jacket and a pair of trousers.
I wear it to compliment my wife who always wears a long evening dress and looks fabulous.

This is why I keep mine...because SHE looks fabulous whenever I have call to wear it somewhere! ;)

In fact quit a lot of Seabourn gents wear a Tuxedo on formal optional evenings, you of course will be fine as you are.
Just enjoy the voyage.

I may pack it anyway. I'd sooner wear it on Formal Nights, but there's only one on the relatively short 7-day cruise we're taking. :)

Hate to appear champagne snooty but we both really like champagne over other wines and hard liquor. To be frank, I'd much prefer even the J Vineyards "Cuvée 20" sparkling wine offering from Sonoma County to the Feuillatte champagne. I kinda thought that "fine wines" would include champagne at least at the Moet-Chandon level. But, I suppose people would guzzle it by the gallon then. I'll simply moderate my intake by upgrading with my on-board credits! :)

I'm not sure if things have perhaps changed, but when we very recently booked the ONLY choice for wine was, specifically, "House white or red". We immediately figured the best answer was probably "neither", so we opted for the other CC and sodas/water, requesting Diet Pepsi and Pelligrino.
I agree that your best bet to avoid possible disappointment would be to request a certain varietal in the event it would win you a good selection. I'd love to wedge a couple of fine bottles along in my bag, just in case. Since learning that hardly anyone sports a tuxedo these days, I can save some weight! ;)

My fiancee and I will be honeymooning and cruising Seabourn for the first time on May 2, 2015..my birthday (Istanbul to Athens on Odyssey). We're up for mutual back scratching! :)

Yes, the only complimentary champagne is generally NF, unless it runs out when, rumour has it, it may be replaced by a better substitute!
I'm afraid that I have never investigated the champagnes on the 'to buy' list, but oxypete clearly has valuable experience here.

This speaks to the advantages of toasting early and often! My lovely fiancee and I will be moneyhooning on the Odyssey in May, so I invite anyone else aboard to ask for the bubbly!! :)

I'm not TOO picky about champagne. Maybe a Canard Duchene. :) LOL
So, let me ask this. Do I understand from a post above that the complimentary champagne might not be your favorite but that other selections are available at a "reduced premium"?

I can't wait until May.......news of champagne and caviar on whim is marvelous!

Thanks, Nolagirl! :)

Oh, I certainly would, too. I'm not rolling anything on my honeymoon except maybe the neighbors from their berths. I was just curious.

Greetings all- My fiance are taking Odyssey on honeymoon cruise (May 2, 2015) and we are near booking a penthouse suite. Available is a "guaranteed", which assures one of that category or higher, depending on availability...realizing that on a big demand cruise, you could be assigned that last obstructed view cabin near the elevator. ;)
Has anyone ever gone this route on a Seabourn cruise, particularly on Odyssey? I'd appreciate hearing your experience. It would SEEM something of a no-lose proposition since these suites all seem attractive.

In 1997, my wife and I took a short repositioning cruise on the Dawn Princess (Vancouver to LA). When we got into the dock, the mad rush ensued to disembark with people standing around like lemmings. My wife and I retreated to the pool area and copped a table and chairs. Soon, a bunch of guys with cameras and equipment came piling aboard and setting up lights and stuff. We waited then asked what was going on. A guy with the crew said that they were there to shoot some Baywatch scenes that needed re-takes. In about 15 minutes, in filed David Hasselhoff, followed by a STUNNING Gina Lee Nolan and, straggling in a bit later, Pamela Anderson. Hasselhoff milled around talking and when I nodded he walked over and signed an autograph and took a picture with my wife. The ladies and their entourage sat down at the table next to us. Gina Lee in tight leather pants and even tighter sweater was a real treat. Pamela with no make-up, slobbering down a bowl of something was a disgusting site. I'll say this, her make-up people should receive medals! Ha! I took a bunch of pics of the ladies but kick myself to this day that I didn’t have MY picture taken with THEM!
