On a 7 night (winter) cruise, is there any inclusive entertainment besides the two shows and the supplemental piano bar and second city.
Is there anything like a magician, tribute band or hypnotist? Cirque I know costs extra, so just wondering about other shows in the theater over the course of the other 5 nights.

Hi,
We are considering a cruise on the Breakaway in December.
After reviewing some Freestyle Dailies, I was very surprised to see very little professional entertainment and am now hesitant on booking a cruise compared to the Anthem of the Seas. On that Royal Caribbean cruise, we had - 3 house bands + soloists, 3 production shows, 2 comedy shows with two different comedians, cover band (Led Zeplin for our cruise) and a vantriloqust.
It looks like there are a ton of game shows and dance parties each night with a DJ. But we look forward to a different professional form of entertainment each night. On Royal Caribbean, we've looked forward 2-3 production shows (on Breakaway it looks like Burn the Floor and Rock of Ages). For the other 5 nights of a 7 night cruise, there are usually 3 fly-on acts - juggler, vantriloquist, cover band in the main theater (besides the regular house bands throughout the ship).
On our last NCL cruise 7 years ago aboard the NCL Dawn, we enjoyed a magician and hypnotist.
On Breakaway it doesn't look like there are fly-on type forms of professional entertainment. Aside from the deck parties and live music (dueling pianos) that we like to do after a professional show, are there any special forms of entertainment unique to each cruise on the Breakaway? Eepecially for repeat cruisers to change things up, but also to do after dinner before the deck party, dueling pianos or nightclub.
Second City and the Welcome Aboard show would fill 3 nights of unique entertainment, but what about the other 4 nights on a 7 night cruise? (I know Freestyle cruising doesn't align entertainment with particular nights, but just trying to see if there are other unique forms of inclusive entertainment on a 7 night cruise besides Second City and dueling pianos).
Thanks!

Hi,
Does anyone have any experience on the Breakaway v.s. Anthem for the holidays. Would appreciate any insight and opinions. Thank you.

Thanks! Just posted there too. Curious about the perspectives from dedicated Royal Caribbean cruisers vs NCL cruisers. Looking forward to hearing perspectives from both views.

Hi All,
We are considering another cruise on the Anthem and are wondering if anyone knows if Synergy will be back onboard this fall/winter?
Out of 10+ cruises, they are the most fun and energetic band and we'd love to cruise with them. Does anyone know if they will be back onboard the Anthem this holiday season?
Also - does anyone know if the Anthem of the Seas still has tribute bands for 1-2 nights a sailing?

Hi all,
We've cruised all major cruise lines, but most of our recent cruises have been on Royal Caribbean. We've celebrated the holidays or new years aboard Royal Caribbean for the past 4 years.
We are contemplating changing things up this year and trying a cruise aboard the Breakaway. Last year for the holidays, we cruised on the Anthem of the Seas, and it was our favorite cruise to date.
I know NCL has freestyle dining and cruising, but what can we expect aboard the Breakaway? Has anyone been on both the Anthem of the Seas and NCL Breakaway for the holidays for comparison purposes?
NCL seems to have the dueling piano bar, second city comedy and Rock of Ages. How is the live music? Is there anything for the 18+ crowd (young adults / early 20's) to do? RCL has a nightly gathering for this age group and then they usually met up at the nightclub.
A few other questions:
-Does NCL do anything special during a Christmas sailing?
-What is there to do for the first and last day and a half? The Anthem of the Seas had an indoor pool and 270 lounge. What kind of activities does NCL offer for the beginning and end of the trip?
-The itinerary is awful (GSC, Nassau and Orlando). We'd probably only get off at the private island and Nassau and would be cruising for the convenience and for a nice family trip. How has the weather been at these islands during this time of year? Does the ship more often than not miss Great Stirip Cay in the winter?
-Is there any fly on entertainment (special shows / comedy / vantriloquist / anything else besides the broadway-style shows)?
-How is the food in the included dining venues?
-What kind of crowd should we expect (families)? Heavy New York / New Jersey crowd similar to the Anthem of the Seas?
Thank you very much.

Rock the boat is just the house band that came on when Synergy (best band we've seen on a cruise) went on vacation. The Anthem was special because it used to have a tribute band once a cruise in addition to the standard house band, Boleros band and Reggae band.
-
Thanks. Haven't seen them in recent compasses, thought they used to be a regular special form of entertainment for Anthem cruises. Was wondering if this was eliminated or a cutback.
-
Hi,
Is this still a thing on the Anthem? Loved seeing the Led Zeplin band in 270 last December, wondering if we can look forward to seeing another tribute band if we book another cruise on the Anthem?
-
Really enjoying your review. Anthem is our favorite ship. Do you know if Stephanie is working by the Solarium bar? She is one of the nicest employees we've ever met and it's worth getting a drink there to get to talk to her.
-
Thanks for the great review! Any chance you can check if Synergy band with Katrina plans to return to the Anthem? They were the best band we've seen perform on a ship.
Also, if you pass by the Solarium bar, would you be able to check if Stephanie works there. There is one in particular who went above and beyond and I'd love to give her a shoutout to Royal Caribbean. I Think her name was Stephanie but I can't find where I wrote her name down and want to confirm.
Enjoy the rest of your cruise.

Thanks for the info. Anyone fortunate to sail in the next few weeks should definitely check out Synergy band with Katrina Love. Defintiely a highlight of our cruise.
-
Thanks again for the great review. If you see Synergy Band playing tonight at Music Hall, would you be able to ask how much longer they are on the Anthem for and if they will be returning for another contract? They are our favorite band we've seen on a cruise ship. Katrina's energy and passion is tremendous.
-
Loving the live review.
Is Synergy Band with Katrina Love still onboard? They were one of th best live groups we've seen on a RCCL ship. One Love Band is also very good.

Hi all,
Just off the epic. Does anyone know of a nice hotel that I can spend the day at and use the pool without an issue before an evening flight? Thanks!
-
Thanks! Has anyone indicated what we should expect crowd wise for the sailing after yours - younger, college-aged or similar, mixed?
Enjoy your last day.
-
Also, has the crew indicated if it will be more of a spring break type crowd next sailing, or move of the same as you current cruise?
-
Thank you for posting live. What kind of crowd is on this sailing? Do you have a large college type spring break crowd, given that it falls during spring break and is a short sailing? Sailing on the next short cruise on 3/8 and wondering what to expect.
-
Just following up. Anyone have any insight? Thanks!
-
Does anyone have any insight into whether there will be a college spring break type cruise on this sailing? Or do most target the ships fro Miami and Fort Lauderdale that are generally known for their shorter sailings?
Also - any recommendations on things to do in such a short period of time on the Epic?
Thanks!

I still haven't received my Amex creidt and I purchased $500 of onboard credit and received the approval offer from Amex immediately after on 2/13. Did anyone else take advantge of this offer and have the charge go through but not get the statement credit yet?
-
I purchased $500 of onboard on the 13th but have yet to receive my credit (I received the email saying that I received the offer due to my purchase).
Has this happened to anyone else?
Thank you very much.

Hi,
Does anyone have any information regarding my questions. Thank you.
repeat cruise on Anthem? December
in Royal Caribbean International

Hi,
We sailed Anthem for the holidays last year. It is currently more expensive than the NCLBreakaway holiday cruise.
We are turned off from the Breakaway due to the lack ofentertainment since there are only 2 shows (doesn’t seem like any fly-on acts)plus second city and piano bar and since there are limited indoor spaces for awinter sailing.
How different will the Anthem holiday cruise be this yearfrom last? Same production shows andholiday show? Same tribute band and Namethat Tune show? What kind of fly-onentertainment can we expect (how many acts) on an 8 night cruise?
Thank you.
