  1. Thanks Jeff! Now you've got me thinking about the food.....Yum! No plans while in Agadir....perhaps, I'll just eat my way along. Will be on a tour in Casablanca as I don't think it is the place to strike out Solo Mi....

PS Just heard from a friend in Mexico City who lives in the historic district who said her building is badly damaged but the residents were not hurt...just frightened!

  2. And to think, on the 30th anniversary of that devastating quake!

I live about 20 miles outside of Guadalajara. Anxiously awaiting news from Mexico DF.

Wonderful getting my Silver Box...looking forward to boarding Silver Wind November 10th...and having a respite from North America for a couple of weeks..........

So sorry to read that Spinnaker had to cancel their cruise.

  3. Thank you for your thoughts, Camillus. We were not affected but I would imagine that folks in Mexico City were very frightened. They had done earthquake drills just this morning. We have not heard yet the extent of the damage there and in Puebla. Hoping for the best. Fortunately, building codes have improved dramatically since the devastating quake that killed so many people.

I have been thinking about you and your family in PR. It is hard to believe that another devastating hurricane is heading their way. I hope and pray that they do not get the brunt of the storm.

  4. Bit of a shock this morning when UPS delivered our Silver Box for our Wind TA on 10 Nov - there's still 53 days until sailing. Not that I'm complaining, mind, it just seems a lot more in advance than usual.

TTS My Silver Box just arrived today, too! Does seem a bit early, but now the fun of planning in earnest begins!

See you on 10 Nov. Penny

  5. Great to hear, Spins! Congratulations, best news ever! I should know...we were left without power AND water for a full week in PR when Hugo visited. It was horrible!!!!!

Penny, good news for your cousin. Now, what is an SS PCC? In another thread there was a posting to the effect that such a person had been a failure...and presumably a supervisor, when the poster complained. What exactly is this person's role?

Yes, Jeff is correct. She is the person who makes my travel arrangements at Silversea. She looks after me very well and I was particularly impressed with her prompt attention to my desire for a particular wine......during this most stressful time for folks in Florida. She even told me that a tree had fallen in her yard and damaged her neighbor's house!

  6. So happy to read that Coolers living in Irma's path made it through without severe damage. My cousin's Key house next to Big Pine came through fairly unscathed. He only got to see it this morning.

I am writing to sing the praises of my SS PCC. She has been wonderful! She recently worked out a wonderful deal for me for 2019. Just before the hurricane, I was speaking to her in Miami and we were discussing a Spanish Wine that I really like. She said she'd check and see if it would be available on my Nov, cruise. She just called me and said it would be and the info had been added to my booking. Now, I think this is outstanding service as she resides in Miami and this is Tuesday following Irma!

  7. With so many cruise lines to choose from, folks should be able to find one that fits their specific desires regarding dress. SS obviously is not for everyone! Having said that, there are many of us who love the line and continually book SS cruises. We enjoy dressing formally from time to time. Here is hoping SS continues to meet our desires.

  8. I have seen the same things but no rejoicing here.............I have friends in Miami and so I fear for them.........Irma

is still going to hit right on them:eek:........and we are still in the "cone of uncertainty" they continue to talk about. and rain and winds

are supposed to still be coming here..............of course I hope it is not so bad..........but this thing keeps changing...........

Wishing you and all Floridians the very best! Horrific hurricane. I lived in Miami during Cleo and I will never forget that one!

  9. Penny, so glad you are fine!! We have friends in Mexico, plus we care for all the beautiful people we still have not met in that country.

I also admire Spins and her steadfastedness (I tend to make up words). Our family in Tampa is scared, though their house is constructed to code and, except for some glass doors, it should hold. They paneled the doors.

Hoping and praying for the best!

Thanks, Cam. Wonderful that PR was somewhat spared. You must be relieved.

  10. I just read on CNN stream that the Gov. of Texas stated that Texas will be helping Mexico in the aftermath of the earthquake; Texas so appreciated Mexico's generosity following Harvey. Isn't it wonderful to see the way people and our governments can come together in a time of adversity?

  11. Greetings Coolers! Continued hopes that Irma will behave and not spin death and destruction as she "dances" north. Also thoughts for our Cooler friends and families in Mexico impacted by an 8.1 earthquake near Tapachula.

Thanks for your thoughts for folks in Mexico. We are waiting for more news. So far the reports have not been devastating but so much of the area is difficult to get to, even in the best of times.

Thinking about all facing these terrible events in our Hemisphere...

  12. Terry: what wonderful pics. They brought back so many memories of our three years in the former Yugoslavia. I had not thought of Cetinje for so long. I remember the drive, oh my, and we had a cement truck behind us. Boca Kotor is one of my favorite places. Thank you!
