The J4's have a bathroom with toilet and sink and another one with bathtub, sink and separate shower.  We loved the J4 we had last year on Anthem and wish all ships had that category as we always stay in JS, but loved the split bathroom.

That sounds really nice, too.  I upgraded to a J3 yesterday for my March cruise.  There were no junior suites available for the longest time, but I guess some people cancelled when the final payment was due.  I'm traveling with two of my friends, so it will be really nice to have a little extra space, and two bathrooms will come in handy when it is time to get ready.  The funny thing is I talked to two different rep's at Club Royale and they both said there was only one bathroom.  The price to upgrade was minimal (when split 3 ways), so I took a chance and booked it.  This will be my first time in a Junior Suite.

  2. What type of Junior Suite is a J3 on Anthem?  Was it formerly known as a Family Junior Suite or Spa Suite?

The deck plan doesn't have information regarding the bathroom set up.

  3. Hi. I booked one of the new balcony staterooms on Deck 11 and I’m having trouble finding information.  The staterooms are underlined in the photo attached, 1152, 1150, 1100, 1102, 1104.  I’ve stayed in a forward facing ocean view room (window, no balcony) on deck 6 on Adventure and enjoyed it.   I’m trying to find out the size of the balcony, if it’s sunny or shaded, quiet or noisy.  I’m taking my 17 year old son again, I think he’ll love the location. I’d love to be able to have room for a lounge chair on the balcony, it A73D4804-7B07-4F1B-A2DF-D0437E3622ED.thumb.jpeg.d37871eb266a2f1be00171976114ca3c.jpeglooks big enough.  The rep for casino royale said it’s a standard size balcony.  That doesn’t seem right based on the deck plan.  Thanks in advance.

  4. My son and I ate at Primo's Italian Kitchen & Bar and had a nice meal.  It is in the little mall that is between the Marriott and Doubletree.  You can access the mall near the check-in desk.  The are restaurants, a few stores for convenience items, a pharmacy,  etc.  Look at the DoubleTree by Hilton Biscayne Bay website and it will give you an idea of some of the restaurants that are there.

Balcony for cabin 6168 on Anthem has a view over the center of the first port side lifeboat with a set of double davits to the left which is my shots I posted above as these were taken from that balcony. There is a single davit to the right as shown in the shot below.

Stay away from starboard side, above the smoking area.  It is shown on the deck plans

I made a mistake and moved to 6570 (I confused port and starboard).  Are we above the smoking area in 6570?

There are 3 of us in the room and I'm hoping to fit 3 chairs on the balcony.  This balcony looks a little bigger (on the deck plan).  6562 is available and it looks even bigger.  I just don't want to be above the smoking area because one of my friends has asthma.

If we are above the smoking area, any suggestions on which obstructed balcony stateroom for 3 I should ask to move to?

    Thanks.

I’ve looked around the airport and along I78 and finding any kind of hotel that offers 2 beds plus a sofa bed is very difficult.  They are very scarce and none are within your budget of $200-250 including transportation to the port and parking while on the cruise.  The park sleep cruises through trinity reservations are not yet available for 2020.

Your best bet now is to make a refundable reservation at Springhill Suites in Newark for 2 doubles and a sofa bed.  Dining would be at the Courtyard in the same complex.  Other hotels which have 3 beds are Country Inns and Embassy Suites at a much higher price.

When the park sleep cruises become available through Trinityreservations.com, you could email Bruce and ask if they could guarantee 3 beds for the three of you instead of paying for 5 people.

Thank you.  I didn't realize some hotels offered transportation to/from the port.  I thought we'd have to Uber or take a taxi.  With that in mind our budget should be $300.

If we can get a good rate we thought about staying someplace like the Embassy Suites Berkeley Heights NJ the night before, and parking at the port the next day.  The hotel looks like it is "on the way" and google maps says will take roughly 30 minutes to get to the cruise terminal from the hotel.  Does this sound feasible?  The part that is appealing to me is the ability to "get on the road" after the cruise and not have to shuttle somewhere.  I'm the driver, and I have to work the next day.  😞

You are in the right place.

What is your hotel budget?  What route are you coming in on from Pittsburgh?

Parking at the port is $22/day.  There are a few Park/sleep cruise options.  It all depends on your hotel budget range.  Basically you are looking for accommodations for 5 people and these can be scarce.

$200-$250 for the hotel if it includes parking.

Likely route: PA turnpike to 78.

    Thank you!

  8. Hello, I hope I am in the right place.  I apologize if this has been asked and answered, I'm having trouble with the search function.  Last night we booked Anthem's 3/22 sailing.   Our group is 3 ladies, late 40's to 70.  This is our first cruise from Cape Liberty. The current plan is to drive from Pittsburgh the day before.  We're looking for a clean, safe hotel with two beds and a roll away or sofa bed for Saturday 3/21/20.  It would be nice if there is a restaurant at the hotel or one nearby (within safe walking distance).

We've been to NYC before so we do not plan on doing any sightseeing. We don't mind waking up and having an hour to drive, but really don't want to be further than that.  Also, Is parking at the port our best option?  Thank you in advance.

  9. Host Clarea, I moved across the hall to 6570. One of my friends has asthma and h20skibum pointed out the other stateroom was above the smoking area.  There are 3 of us, and it looks like the balcony might be a little bigger.  What is the bed/sofa placement in this room?  Thanks in advance.

Robbiesox15 I just booked this room type and found this web page helpful.  You can't click the yellow photo icons without a membership, but you can see the black photo icons and the links to YouTube videos.    https://www.cruisedeckplans.com/DP/deckplans/deckbydeck.php?ship=Anthem-of-the-Seas&deck=6

Thank you for this review.  We are embarking on our first cruise on this ship next Friday.  We are very excited and nervous since it is our first cruise and the planning has been very different than any other trip I have taken.   I mean I can plan a Disney trip with my eyes closed but this has been a challenge for me.  We do plan to get off the ship briefly in Nassau so that the kids can say they were in the Bahamas.  Is there a bar that anyone recommends since 3 of the four will be legal there and I know that would like to get a drink?  We would just be walking somewhere no taxis.

    Thank you

    Kathe

August 2nd? I'm on the same cruise.  Can't wait!

    Have a great time!

Done B2B's several times and have one 'pending'

In our experience you leave the ship at the very last moment having met up with all the other B2B'ers and head into the terminal ( I may add we've only done this in Fort Lauderdale ) and sit down for 5/10 mins whilst they give out your new SPC. The only issue I've ever seen with this is a woman who wanted to keep her old SPC from the cruise that had ended.

You obviously take your passport with you etc, but leave your stuff in your cabin as if you were in port somewhere midcruise.

Then pretty much 1st back on board, and this next bit can some times be the 'benefit' of doing a B2B - they take you for a free lunch! The last 2 have been Giovanni's and Jamie's Italian.

Having either a drinks package and a free drinks status means I don't bother with bringing wine onboard - my guess, it's effectively 2 separate cruises so don't risk a trip to the 'naughty room' to go get your bags on day 1 ha ha

    Hope that helps?

We didn't get a free lunch.  Is this only for certain cruises?

  12. I took a chance and booked the stingray excursion simply for the lower price.   Our cruise was last month. Other than a wristband that indicated we had the stingray package, and having to pay for food and drinks, there was no difference.  We never saw the stingrays.  We simply got off of the tender, went straight to the desk to rent an umbrella, and stayed at the beach all day.

The umbrella rental was $25 and came with 2 tickets for free rum punch, Bahama Mama or non-alcoholic punch.  I was with my 16 year old son, and we had 2 free drinks each.  .

As I mentioned, you're on your own for food.  There is a "hibiscus lunch package" you can purchase which I think might be the same or similar to the "included" lunch with the deluxe beach package.  It is $20 per person.

There is also food available a la carte which is what we chose.  I bought pieces of pizza (they were actually round, 5" in diameter), and an order of fries for $21.28 including tax.   There were dispensers of ice water around the seating area.

I'll try to post pictures.  I didn't get a picture of the a la carte menu but have a picture of my receipt.

PS.  I'm also from Pittsburgh 🙂

  13. I travel for work and have a Marriott Bonvoy account.  I always request a room near the elevator.  We were placed on the 8th floor, last room in a long hallway.  The room was directly above the pool and outdoor event space.  A very loud event went very late, I wanted to sleep.  There was a small balcony which I think contributed to the noise.  The faucet continually dripped in the tub.  Towels were grimy looking.  The sink only had hot or warm water.  It was an old bathroom with a new mirror.  Dirty grout, warped door.  Like lipstick on a pig.  The bed and sheets were clean and it was only one night.  I paid less than $150 with the Travelzoo promo.   Had I paid the normal rate of over $300 I would have complained.

I’d say average wait times on the slides were 15-20 minutes.  Less late afternoon.
