A Little Background:
This is my 7th cruise. I have sailed the Fantasy 2008, Fascination 2014, Triumph 2017, Conquest 2018, Majesty of Seas 2019, Independence of the Sea 2022 and now the Horizon!! We have a blended family that includes three children a 9 year old boy, a 12 year old girl, and 17 year old boy. We can’t forget our two dogs and a gecko. We try once a year for us to take an adult only vacation, which has been a cruise until last year were we tried our first all-inclusive. Thanks to me because I have cruise fever and can’t get enough we are back to cruising. This is Kanise’s 3rd Cruise and Darren’s first. They are joining us from Manchester, VA and we are currently living in Byron, GA. Which is 2 hrs south of Atlanta, GA.
Travel Day & My Birthday Oct 8:
Our day starts for me at 6:00am because I couldn’t sleep any longer. It was like Christmas Day in my head. The sun wasn’t even up yet. The whole house was sleeping and I was praying for the time to past so we could head to the airport for our 12:40pm flight. I was so excited I couldn’t eat breakfast or even drink coffee. Finally BFF texts at 7:30am to say that they have made it to the airport and to say Happy Birthday to me. You guys believe me when I say I was so excited to go on this cruise, that when I saw Happy Birthday I was like aww s**t it is my birthday. In all the years of my life I have never forgotten my birthday until 2022. (Excuse my language that will be the first and last bad word in this blog). Its 7:30am so I run into the bedroom to wake Hubby. Get up, get up, its pre cruise day and we got things to do sir. You can sleep when we get back from our cruise on the 15th. But for now if you want to remain married you better get out of that bed sir. Finally at 9:30am we are finally washed, dressed and the car is packed for us to head to the airport, thankfully we spent the night at our friend Sean’s house who only lives 15mins for the Atlanta Airport. Airport here WE COME!!
Finally we made it to the airport checked our bags, printed our boarding passes and took the train to the proper concord and found the right gate. All this excitement only to arrive at our gate to find out that our flight has been delayed. Are kidding me birthday gods. Why why why have you forsaken me. Apparently, we didn’t have a pilot and we needed to wait for the pilot to land from another flight before he could fly us to Miami. I guess the pilot is an important part of this process. FINE, I guess Nick and I will get breakfast to past the time away until 1:45pm. All I know is Miami better be worth the wait. If I didn’t mention this before this my first time to Miami. Nick has been there years and years ago.
Finally 1:15pm and we can finally board! YES YES YES, lets hit it. On our Way to row 4o window and middle seat. But before we get too excited, excuse Ma’am with the dark hair, sorry to bother you but you are in my seat. She replies are you sure. Me taking a deep and remembering this is someone's grandmother. Yes Ma’am. She finally moves to her correct seat. Thank you Birthday Gods and we are off. Everything was fine with the flight until it was time to land. We descend back to earth to find out that it had been raining the whole time we were in the clouds. This didn’t help us during our landing because the plane hydroplaned and everyone broke out into screams and all I could do was pray to the real God for us not to tip over because I swear to you that plane was so tilted that if we would have been a car we would have been on two wheels and then the pilot over corrects and now we are tilted in the opposite direction I grab Nick’s hand for dear life and close my eyes and pray some more. Thankfully my prays were heard and there was no more tilting just the pilot jamming on the brakes to stop the plane and me almost losing my breakfast from the seat belt holding me in place. Delta Airlines we need to talk.
