  1. We are on April 19th cruise as well. Our first P and  O cruise on Azura was in April 2015 right after a refit. The carpet in the cabin was grubby so no replacement there. Also there were lots of buckets around the ship catching water from leaks. I hope this cruise will not be a repeat. This will be our 5th time on Azura.

Hi, we have select fare, and it includes the coach transfer from Glasgow to Southampton. Does anyone know where the coach leaves from in Glasgow, approx what time and whether the journey is as bad as i think it might be 🤔

We have travelled by coach numerous times. While I would say that Eavesway, whom we paid for, were better coaches than those used by P and O, the Cruise Connect coaches by Ellison have always been ok. It is an early start but most folk snooze until the first stop. A tip for your first stop is to take a sandwich or snack  with you as often there is very little open. Plenty of comfort breaks and time to stretch your legs.

  3. We were on the cruise for two weeks. They repeated two of the shows on the second week. Something I had never seen before. There was no alternative act to go to for people who had seen the shows. It was our first Cunard cruise and we were disappointed that the only other entertainment was music from bands, groups or individuals. I agree about how awful the singers and dancers were.

  4. Our Q.V. cruise in August will be our first on Cunard. All these different themes and colours are really putting me into a panic. Do not get me wrong. We have cruised for years and always observed formal nights by wearing an evening dress for me and my husband a kilt or tux. However how do people cope weightwise on fly cruises? What percentage of people do not or cannot follow the suggested attire at the balls? We have 2 black and white nights, a Royal Cunard night and Masquerade night.

  5. Just as long as common sense prevails. There are Shorts ! (i.e. tailored shorts) ....... and then there are Short Shorts ! (left to ones imagination ;) ) The MD will have no hesitation in turning away folk who turn up ( in any main restaurant) for breakfast /lunch in Gym gear .

No worry then as only wear tailored shorts.

  6. If the letters are not being delivered in envelopes and are visible to the cabin steward or other passengers if they are left outside, then a far more sensible approach would be a complaint under the Data Protection rules (shortly to be the General Data Protection Regulations).

Disclosing personal information (that the passenger has removed the Service Charge) to unauthorised people (cabin steward and other passengers) is completely forbidden.

The penalty for breaching the GDPR principles is €20 million or 4% of the company’s global annual turnover.

So has anyone who has had this letter informed P and O of this breach?

  7. Hi Hattie - perhaps that's the solution to the current and dramatic 'Dress Code(gate)' - get Cunard to turn down the air conditioning temperature EVEN LOWER in the evening - THEY EVERYONE WILL HAVE TO WEAR A JACKET AND NO SHORTS:evilsmile:!! Just a suggestion ;)

Having yet to sail on Cunard (on Q.V. at the end of August) from reading the above do I understand the ship is cool inside in the evening? I do feel the cold moe than most.

  8. We have still to take our first cruise on Cunard which is at the end of August. Having previously taken well over 20 cruises on other lines we were looking forward to a new experience. However we have always dressed up on formal nights and smartly on other evenings although my husband did not wear a jacket as almost no one did. He always wore his kilt on formal nights but, due to airline weight restrictions, he will only be taking his dinner suit this time. I love dressing up in the evening. Life at home nowadays is so casual even when going out for a meal it is nice to feel special. I hope things don’t change on Cunard but only time will tell.

  9. You could always book a slot at the Grand Harbour Hotel Cruise Lounge. It opens for anyone, including non-residents at 7am daily. The non-alcoholic tariff is cheapest and they do a concierge transfer to quayside for passengers. Suitcases may be deposited free of charge while you go around town or sit in the lounge and have snacks. Check hotel details on the website.

    Regards John

Thanks, John. Will look into that.
