Genoa we did a walking tour. Tour left from tourist office which was a pleasant walk along the front. It was €11pp. The front is lovely with cafes, ships and a huge Aquarium.

I've now found out how to go back to the old style for the forum. If you click on Edit Profile, then right at the bottom of the page of settings that it takes you to is a drop-down list of forum styles. There are three possibilities. I tried switching from "Use Forum Default" to "Default Style". From their names, you would expect them to be the same, but in fact "Default Style" seems to be the old style and "Use Forum Default" the new one.
If using the new style, the easiest way to get to Edit Profile seems to be via the roundel with one's user ID that's displayed at the top right of the page.
Thank you so much for the advice. I find "the old way" much easier to navigate.

You can also take the Hoho bus and then get off and walk down to Ribeira area at the river. The boat trip along the .Douro is very good. All the port cellars are on the opposite side. The tour we did gave you free entry to one of the cellars.

Re : Feather bedding - We've had feather pillows in the cabin on previous cruises, but not sure if they've changed to all non-fetaher ones, so its best to contact P&O and ask them just to be sure.
Thank you. Will do that.

I see that you stated the bedding was. Hanged from feather. Is bedding on Azura normally feather as I have an allergy too?
-
Thee are always a few men in kilts on formal evenings.
But is a coloured kilt acceptable on black and white night?
We normally travel on other lines that don't have black and white night.

Dubrovnik is easy. Shuttle to town. WLk the walls first as it gets very hot then explore the town. There is a cable car to hilltop you can use. Malta and Piraeus get Hoho bus. Mykonos walkable as is Hvar and Split. Katakolon not much there. You might want a tour to Olympia. Never heard of Sarande.
-
My husband normally wears his kilt. Would that still be acceptable on Black and white night. He certainly can't take a suit as well and doesn't have a tux.

There was a gourmet burger on the always availablepage. It changed each night. No medallions as a choice. Not a move to the better.
-
If possible we go on an independent your. Much better to be in a small group.

Are there usually taxi's waiting in Blankenburg? We've got a group of 4 adults and a 2 year old, we were wondering whether taxi or train would be easier.
Lots of prearranged taxis at dock gate. However we got one there that was not prearranged within a few minutes.
-
take a taxi. €100 return so about €25 each if you have 4. Taxi will take you to edge of main square and pick you up there again when you want.

There is always the coach. Long journey but no stress of driving yourself then trying to park.

Interesting and informative review. We previously sailed on Azure right after her refit and were not impressed. The carpet in our cabin was stained and the room they held the sindicate quiz in had buckets which multiplied daily to catch leaks. The ship showed little signs of a refit.
However, in spite of mainly sailing with Princess, we have decided to give P and O and Azura another chance and are sailing on her to the Canaries in April.

On the Emerald in September it was trifle instead of the bread and butter pudding at the pub lunch.

We always try to do an island tour with a local company if it is our first visit there. We never pay in advance and have always been well pleased with the tours we took. Certainly much cheaper than a ship'S tour and always a smaller group.

Glad someone asked what MPW was. I hadn't a clue.

We are Elite on Pricess and both P and O and the original old Ocean Village cruises counted. A great pity things don't work both ways.

SS Dunera 1963. 2 weeks from Grangemouth with. Only 3 ports, Vigo, Casablanca and Lisbon. Favourite song was Kelly by Del Shannon. I think we nearly wore the disc out. Highlight, as I was a ship's prefect, was dining in the dining room with the teachers.

We mostly cruise Princess but had one cruise on the Azura. She was just out of dry dock and lots of snags including leaks. We were happy with food and entertainment. Cabin could have been cleaner. Stained carpet. However we are giving P and O and Azura another chance and going to the Canaries in April as the itinerary was what we wanted.

The one time I ordered the egg sandwich at the IC on Grand Princess it appeared that they can only put one at a time in the oven, so if "quick" is the operative word if you see a long line you may be better off running up to the HC.
And my take on the sandwich is that is was extremely dry-- and the IC offers nothing you can spread on it such as butter, jelly or cream cheese. On that same Grand cruise I was gutted to see that the only place I could get my favorite raisin bread was at the IC (never saw it either at the HC or MDR) but had to either eat it dry or ride the elevator up eight decks carrying with me to get anything to moisten it.
On the Emerald raisin bread was always available at breakfast in the MDR. Love it.

As far as I know you are only allowed 2 bottles of wine per cabin at embarkation. As stTed at ports it is hit or miss. We have never had any taken and held or paid corkage.

The Lotus Spa pool is not part of the Sanctuary, I know it seems that way where its located.
There are not very many loungers as its a small area.
Its open to anyone 18 or older.
Often the loungers have towels lying open on them but never anyone using them. I have been swimming for over half an hour and saw most empty but not available. No different to the chair hogs at the main pools.

If you are taking a shuttle take the blue port one. Parked near the ship and slightly cheaper then Princess.
What to do in Vigo, La Palma, Tenerife?
in P&O Cruises ( UK )
Posted
Just remember if you are doing the cable car and toboggan to only buy a single ticket for the cable car as you are nowhere near it when you finish the toboggan ride. We did walk down and were very glad of a coffee and custard tart to revive us. Do try the custard tarts. They are amazing.
Another alternative, if time permits, in Tenerife is Lord Park. Lots of animals, birds etc. And shows to watch. We have taken the tram to La Laguna.
La Palma there is a beach quite near the dock or walk and explore the town. Vigo we just wandered up through the town though I believe there is a Hoho bus.
