  1. We are booked on the upcoming 10/13 Bliss sailing and have been assigned a midship balcony on Deck 11. (We booked a GTY) It seems like a nice location, and we like that it’s sandwiched between decks of cabins. After doing some reading, I started to get a little jealous of folks being assigned rooms that are higher up and closer to the Observation Lounge and pool deck. I’m thinking we might be much happier on 11 though, especially since we are hoping to use the stairs as much as possible on this sailing. It seems to sort of split the difference between public areas nicely.

I’m wondering- what is YOUR preference for cabin location? Why?

  2. No. You can’t book them beforehand. We plan to book onboard, but so t want to have dinners already planned that will potentially conflict. I just wanted to know if anyone can tell me about when the comedy shows were on their sailings so I can make an informed guess about dining reservations while I’m booking them online. Anyone? Please?

  3. We are sailing Bliss in October, and are currently trying to plan some dining times. We know we’d like to book a comedy show or two once we get on board, but don’t want to book a dining time that might conflict. Can anyone tell me about what time the comedy shows are usually offered, and how long they last? Thank you so much!

  4. I’d love to hear about your very favorite cruise-y things! I’d love to hear what you love about NCL too! (We will be sailing on Bliss, so keep your tips coming!)

This will only be our second cruise, and first vacation without our 5 kids in our 15 year marriage. At this point, I’d cheerfully row the ship if I had to, so everything has me excited.

On our first cruise, one of my very favorite things was simply sitting out on the balcony and watching the ocean go by while I drank my tea in the morning. It was so gorgeous and peaceful! Another favorite was standing out on our balcony at night and watching a huge lightning storm over Cuba as we sailed by. It was incredible!

  5. Hubby and I are relatively new cruisers (just one one Allure so far) and have Bliss booked for our anniversary in October. We’ve got the UBP as one of our perks, but I don’t drink alcohol. Hubby does, and he’s excited about the good beer in the brew house! I’ll steal a few sips here and there, but would rather drink virgin drinks. Will bartenders make virgin versions of some of the drinks, and are they covered by the UBP? Can I get tonic and lime? I know it doesn’t cover some things, but I’m hoping that virgin drinks shouldn’t be a problem. Thanks in advance for input! I learn so much here on CC!

  6. This is a bummer! We sail on Allure this Sunday, 8/13! Sure hoping they are able to sort it out. It's our very first cruise, and I'm hoping for a great time!

Of course, we are pretty good at making our own fun, so I don't think it'll be a problem...

Could this be the azipod issue I asked about last week, perhaps?

  7. 😂. I'll try to ignore the amateur engineers! Just was trying to gauge whether I need to hedge my bets. I'm 99% sure that both my son and I would actually enjoy a little rocking of the ship, and that neither of us will get sick at all. We've got an ocean view balcony, so we can always sit out there and keep an eye on the horizon if anything starts to feel too wacky. Thanks, all!

  8. Recently, I ready that Allure was going to have some slight schedule changes due to repairs being needed on one of her 3 azipods, right?

Being new to cruising, I have no idea whether I'll have any tendency towards motion sickness on a huge cruise ship. My guess is no, but that's not necessarily certain.

I understand that if Allure is sailing with just 2 of her azipods functional, the captain will be less likely to use the stabilizers because they cause too much drag, therefore slowing the ship further.

Watching tropical storm Emily blow in prompted me to ask whether we know if the azipod will be fixed, because I'd like to know if I should give real thought to bringing bonine or something similar.

For those of you who have cruised though higher seas and rough weather, how did it affect you?

  9. Maybe this is a stupid question, but I'm a newbie and I'm going to ask anyway! ;p

What do you do with your Seapass card (on a lanyard or not) when you go in pools, hot tubs, etc? It's just going to be my son and I, and I'm not sure what exactly to do with things like that when we are planning to get wet. Do you leave them on a chair? That doesn't sound like the greatest of plans to me.

    Be gentle! Thanks!

  10. i saw the recommendation for Sun Tower, and it looks really nice.

Does anyone have any other recommendations for hotels in Ft Lauderdale that are either on the beach or a quick walk? My son would LOVE to be able to hit the beach the day before our cruise!

We are newbie cruisers, so this is all a learning experience for us. Any help is appreciated!

Bonus points if breakfast is included, and also if there happens to be a airport/cruise port shuttle!
