  1. Breakaway, or that matter any ship in her class, Vibe is worth it.  But I am one of those people who really don’t enjoy being around kids on vacation.  The biggest draw to Vibe for me is that by the end of the week, I’ve always made great friends there.  More so than in the Haven, and definitely more than in the Thermal spa.  So to me yes it Is worth it.  I’ve been in the Vibe on the Breakaway, I believe it was during March though, and it was necessary and definitely added to the enjoyment of the cruise.

I too got this letter yesterday. Our issue is that I will be traveling with my 94 year old father to cruise Alaska. When making our reservations I repeatedly stressed that my sister and her husband, who is a doctor all need to be on the same flights. It would be almost impossible for me to handle my father in a wheelchair by myself. I just spent an hour and a half trying to clarify this. Our trip is 9/5 and we can cancel our air with no issues until 7/17. I was advised that it is a systems issue and nothing can be done. At one point I suggested that one person from NCL contact someone in the airlines but that too can't be done. I suggested that the cancelation date be after we all had our flight information but that to can't be done.  The flight information comes out anywhere from 30-45 days. They suggested we book our own travel and I told them I already paid for the services as a customer of NCL to avoid and travel concerns and that I do not want to hand out an additional charge for 4 people on my credit card. Find this to be unfair.

I don’t understand the 4 charges on your card.  Pick out flights, book yourselves, and everyone can put the charges on their own card.  Booking airline tickets is one of the easiest things to do on your own, and then you have full control of your flights, seats, times, everything.  I have never used the NCL air perk as giving up control and peace of mind over our flights isnt worth any amount of money to us.

  3. Sorry typed this earlier in the airport but it didn’t post.  Yes, on the screen, it started out with I think 1800-1900.  I checked my tier points around day 5, and I had close to 7000.  So, that was when I asked how many to get to sapphire I think it is, and it was 15000 or 8000+ from where I was at, and they mentioned the March date.   You can check your tier points by hitting the little gear looking icon on the screen.  And then I gambled more so I ‘m not sure where i am now.  Nov 2019 was our last cruise.   I specifically booked one in March 2020 to renew my status, and that one got covid canceled.  So, it seemed to me at least something carried over from 2019.

  4. Just got off the Escape and confirmed with the casino staff that the tier period ends the end of March 2022.  I still had tier points when I got on somehow, has to be from Nov 2019, easily got to the same tier I am now.  I asked how long I had to get enough points.to get to the next level, and it was March 2022.  So I might just look at a last minute cruise in March just to do that.

  5. NCL changed their policy even before the pandemic, I think late 2019 or early 2020 that you need to pay upfront now for all excursions even with the promo.  The ocean ones are available on my cruise.  It could be possible they are either lot listed yet or sold out already for your cruise.  They are typically a little less than the lagoon ones.  We booked a lagoon one for our next cruise to try but honestly I think I prefer the ocean ones better.  There is less chance of being located far away from the buffet etc.
