We love this layout. We sailed in one of these cabins on the Royal and will be in one again soon on the Regal.

I feel the same way about the rocking and rolling!
Hey, I was going to say that! LOL :p
Personally, I love the big ships, but unfortunately they make for smoother sailing. I hate that! :D

Stepping onto a Princess ship is like coming home. Everything and everyone else disappears. I instantly relax and have no cares or worries for the rest of the cruise!
-
Some people avoid cabins near mid-ship due to the lack of stairs above deck 7. But you say mid-forward, so I'm not sure if that could be the reason.

Unused OBC?????
What is that?
OBC=On Board Credit.....usually purchased in advance on the Princess website by the person sailing or given as a gift to the person sailing. Sometimes received as a bonus when booking a cruise.

Awesome...thanks! I've already prepaid the package while I had some extra money, LOL. Definitely looking forward to it.

This article says gelato is included with the AIBP..... http://www.cruisecritic.com/v-2/articles.cfm?ID=1470 (scroll down to Princess)
Does anyone know if this is correct? It's not a big deal, but we're sailing the Regal in December and thought it would be good to know.
Thanks!

Just hope that the ship is not in the Bermuda Triangle on that day!
We once flew through the Bermuda Triangle on Friday the 13th!

We booked our upcoming December cruise directly with Princess and got the same free gratuity and $25 on board credit per person for inside cabin.
When I login to My Princess, bring up Payments & Credits, under Optional Gratuity Prepayment, it shows PAID. The $25 OBC (per person) shows up (along with my veteran credit) at the bottom of the page under On Board Credits For This Booking.

In regards to the same-sex issue, I don't think you'll have any problems at all. We always love sailing Princess and have never been uncomfortable.

I have read that NCL's Breakaway has started doing fireworks. I've also read that cruise ship fireworks are launched by air cannon rather than rocket propelled.
-
I always get a feeling of excitement and anticipation as I walk down the corridor to our cabin, kind of like coming home. Also, coffee on the balcony in the quiet of the morning with the sea as my view.
I've always believed that stepping onto a Princess ship is like coming home. The whole world fades away and you're suddenly in paradise!

Standing on the top deck while sailing under the Golden Gate. You feel like you can touch the Gate, and the open sea is dead ahead!
Loved This!!!

Hearing the ship's horn blowing as we leave port.
I got goosebumps when I heard the Love Boat theme horn on the Royal Princess during sailaway.
Hey, does the Regal also have that?

Catching that first glimpse of the ship as you arrive at the pier to start your vacation!
Definitely!

We loved the Royal and the Caribbean! You'll have a great time!

We were in one of those sideways interior cabins in the same area (can't remember which one) and the only noise we had was some moving of deck chairs in the early morning. The noise didn't bother me as much as the lack of midship stairs (enough has been posted on that subject).
Personally, I would move further forward or aft nearer the stairs. But that's my personal preference. It may not be a big deal to you.
We did like the layout of the sideways interior cabins. It just felt like there was more space.

We have not sailed RCI, so I can't help you there. But we sailed the Royal's maiden Caribbean voyage and I loved that ship in the Caribbean. We had a fantastic vacation. The only thing I would avoid is a midship cabin due to the lack of stairs (upper decks).
I love the Promenade decks that actually go to the bow of the ship (Grand & Crown class). I hate that they didn't continue that on the Royal. However, I love the elegant and comfortable grouped seating areas on the Royal Promenade. I never really missed long walks on the Promenade. You enjoy what's there, not spoil your vacation thinking about what's not there. I also loved the upscale grouped seating areas near the pool. Great place to hang out and drink with friends or meet new people when you want to be near the pool, but don't want to do lounge chairs.
The enlarged Piazza is amazing, the new style buffet is amazing (wish they'd switch to that design when ships are drydocked). Much larger adult only pool. Although I mostly hung out at the main pool so I could listen to the Caribbean band or watch the HD screen.
Don't let some people's bad opinions keep you from trying the Royal class ships. Like many have said each person has their own likes and dislikes. Try it now or wait till another time. The important thing is You're Going On A Cruise! :D
Oh yea.....the Sun Deck hot tubs....those are great....I missed those on our recent Diamond cruise, LOL.

I just called Princess since we originally booked with them directly. She said we probably never received the policy number but was able to look it up and give me the 15 digit alpha-numeric number.

It was on the vacation protection page on the cruise personalizer...
Bernadette
Since our cruise is over, it no longer appears in the cruise personalizer. I guess they don't want you to have this info after the fact, LOL. I'll give them a call. Thank you very much!

I did a search and found lots of stuff about insurance but nothing about where to find the policy number. I need to file a claim and can't find a policy number. I see the charge for the insurance on my booking confirmation, but that's all. Can anyone help?
Thanks!

I'm pretty sure the offer ends on 12/31/15...:(
My birthday was 10 weeks ago and we sail next week!

Wow! I did not know about this. We originally booked our upcoming cruise for my 50th birthday in January (it later turned into a honeymoon cruise). Will they automatically give the bottle of wine, or do I have to ask for it?
Thanks for sharing this!
average age of passengers

Overall, Princess seems to have a good mix of demographics. However, that is definitely influenced by the time and length of the cruise. For our honeymoon we sailed 19 days from Sydney to Singapore last March. The average age on the ship was about 70. I've never seen so many scooters, walkers, and canes in my life, LOL.
