  1. That's really nice of them to do that! What a great keepsake for the photo albums! Only thing I'm reading is that, for various reasons, the weather is especially unpredictable for both Iceland and Spain due to the locations and other factors. https://eclipsophile.com/tse2026/
  2. So cool that all of you got to see it. Thanks for the links and pictures!
  3. Maybe they'll come up with something if we bug 'em! Came across several others though: https://www.cunard.com/en-us/cunard-stories/see-the-solar-eclipse-in-2026 https://travelquesttours.com/2026-greenland-iceland-total-solar-eclipse-cruise/ https://www.travelandleisure.com/greenland-cruise-2026-total-solar-eclipse-albatros-expeditions-8426436 Also, Holland America indicates they might be putting something together. Thing is, weather could be dicey based on this site: https://eclipsophile.com/tse2026/ I missed out on seeing the one this past Monday. Drove up to Keuka Lake, NY (love the Finger Lakes region) hoping for the 99.5% since they were quite near the edge of the path, and then had the weather cooperated better we were going to drive the extra 30 minutes up to Penn Yan, which was in the path - just over the edge and so also a bit dicey. I had a room booked in Geneva but then canceled it thinking that the crowds and traffic might have been bad as you get closer to the Rochester, NY area, and so opted to stay a bit farther down. Even without actually seeing it, it was an amazing experience with how dark it got during the deepest portion - as well as the temperature really dropped. I'll never forget that but would love to get another chance! 2044 is pushing the envelope quite a bit for me! Let's email Viking and tell 'em to get moving on 2026 😉
  4. I'd be curious to read them as well as any forthcoming news about a 2026 eclipse cruise. Path goes through areas of Iceland, Greenland, and Spain, among others.
  5. The path goes through areas of Iceland, Greenland, and Spain - among a few other areas. Unfortunately the weather and chances of visibility could play a significant factor at most of the locations the way I'm reading. Princess passengers got to see the recent total eclipse near the start of the path in Mexico.
  6. Trying to look up cruises and all I get is "access denies on this server". Any idea why? The link below would seem to suggest an error on their end rather than mine. Access Denied You don't have permission to access "http://www.royalcaribbean.com/" on this server. 7. Even that sometimes is no guarantee! We were on an RCL excursion one time in Latvia during our Baltic cruise, and the tour group leader left and went back to the ship without us! We were in an organ concert with the entire group and a few people started to not feel well, so she took them outside. At some point, apparently, the entire made their way outside as well - so admittedly we were probably at the tail end of all that (weren't all seated quite together since it was very crowded) - but, still, she never counted her group to make sure everyone was there! It all worked out being that we hitched a ride with a different tour group. We made our presence known back on board (and we're not the type to complain about most anything but this had us most unhappy) and I seem to recall an apology, but nothing else was said or done. It had a lasting impact however in that to this day DW is always a bit nervous as to making sure we're at the correct place and time to meet up with a group escort to head back to the ship - especially in a foreign country.
  8. Yep...just got an email from my sister-in-law, who's also onboard. You beat me to it...
  9. You beat me to it! I had the exact same thought. Anyway, here are a few pics from '16. Always loved going under it. DW used to say, "how many times are you gonna take pictures of it?!" Guess not anymore...
  10. That's a good observation since lots of people do B2B on these Vision itineraries.
  11. But how cognizant of that would they have been? exactly. Maybe moreso during daylight
  12. True, but would your typical construction worker - especially any that are used to working on or around the bridge - have even paid any attention to the river traffic. I agree though - I would have made a run for it if possible. LONG bridge though. They were working in the middle area I believe (?) By car, sure. Totally unsuspecting anything though. "Just another day at the office", as it were.
  13. With all this speculation, maybe CC should get up a pool on when it'll all be done...could be more exciting than doing NCAA brackets. All joking aside, most tragic for the construction workers. No warning whatsoever of what was about to happen for them.
  14. Absolutely. Nothing can bring back lost lives. Bridges can be rebuilt.
  15. I'd say you're right. First they have to contract with a dredger and then get all the equipment there. Could be a pretty extended project. And then you've got currents and changing conditions to deal with.
  16. The Chief addressed this earlier jn post 218: "The resumption of cruising, just like commercial shipping, will not depend on rebuilding the bridge, only on removing the debris from the shipping channel, not even the outer arches which are outside the channel. But, yes, it will take 2-4 months to accomplish that. " Somewhere along the way it was mentioned that commercial traffic will likely resume before passenger cruising. It does seem likely as well as logical, but I was surprised that when were on the Mississippi back in October and were significantly delayed by barge traffic, the captain told us that passenger traffic (at least right then) had priority and so we got to go while the tows waited. Perhaps that was a unique situation for a given day and time.
  17. That's why cruises on Enchantment, Grandeur, and now the Vision have been so popular over the years.
