  1. I enjoyed my final night in a burrito roll on my balcony. The wind had picked up and the waves were slapping the ship like a naughty child. It was quite lovely, just the right amount of rocking.

Debarkation was a breeze. I timed the beginning of the customs line to the end and it took us 5 minutes. We used Cortrans and with 7 minutes were sitting in a conformable van. If I go again we will use them instead of a car rental.

  2. Enjoying your blog, thank you very much , we are on the epic end of January.

Do u have a pic of the blue diamond u bought? Where did. Get it?

Did u happen to go to the large grocery store in Cozumel? I can't remember where it is.

    Thanks again.

The Mega is a 5 to 6 block south of the Epic docks in Cozumel. Really easy to get to and I've walked it before. That is the cheapest place to get liquor and they take credit cards.

  3. We loved the spa,the entertainment was great, we liked to go to the casino. And we actually liked the ability to dine anytime, which we though we would like the least. As far as specialty dining, we dined at LeBistro,Cagney's,and Moderno and liked Moderno best.

Dislikes were the bed was too short in the cabin.(not a deal breaker). Also, I really didn't like the fact that you have to purchase shade on the private island. The tender process was confusing and in the end they didn't follow the schedule since they were early.

    Overall, great cruise experience.

I loved the spa too, I went every day, even on embarkation before dinner. We enjoyed the entertainment but the food in the specialty restaurants stole the show. I only did the casino twice but my husband hung out there most days. In the end we were both slightly ahead so can't complain .

There were a lot of complaints about Great Stirrup Cay tendering. Only 1/2 of our ship went and some people said they waited nearly two hours (according to the CD it was over an hour wait for most). We went at noon and only had to wait 25 minutes so it worked perfect for us. The water is really chilly though, so those going in the next few weeks be prepared.

  4. Where did you dine to get unlimited filet mignon?

Moderno, and it's by far the best restaurant on the ship. On the Escape it was a little too salty, but on the Epic if is just right. They come around and give you a piece or two so ask for more if you want it. The lamb and grilled pineapple are heavenly as well!!!

  5. 12193- Walker - very nice thought and no worries if you don't, I have loved reading your posts and that is reward enough

Shoot. I ran out of minutes and my phone got broken during embarkation. Would have been nice to pay it forward and you were even near our cabin!!

  6. Day 7 Evening

The good. Enjoyed a quiet nap and the gentle rocking of the ship. Later I went shopping and enjoyed a lovely lunch of meatball sandwich and lemon cake. Dinner was good with the gnocchi and calamari with great service at La Cucina. Quick tip, you can order almost any of the pastas with a different sauce so I had my gnocchi with alfredo. Also ask how to get there at the *buffet. Was going to head to the magician comedy show but had to straighten out some stuff. Currently I am listening to the waves outside and enjoying the peace in my stateroom. Will head out for perfect couple and, quest in just a little bit, or stay in and watch a movie. Finally relaxed again.

The not so good. I don't like negativity but I do value truth, so read further only if you are okay with hearing the negative. *First, have a mix up in reservations for dinner and go back and forth to fix it, yes they tell me to go to the actual restaurants. Told the wrong place to pick up liquor, ended up it was just late to the stateroom. Called for my laundry three times and finally went to dinner in slightly dirty pants (spilled on by waitress yesterday and another pair by a guest the day before so no extras). *Mistakes on bill which have to be fixed, so do check it. I have been trying to keep the posts upbeat but the service is very inconsistent across the ship. The biggest problem is instead of calling the different departments they have you running around fixing stuff for them. Huge tip, call 00 from your room. You will skip the lines and running around. I miss the Epic I knew with the excellent service. If I didn't know just how grand she can be I probably wouldn't be so dissapointed.

I'll post some more thoughts tomorrow and am happy to answer questions.

  7. Day 7

    Lazy Day.

I wake up early and head straight to the spa. I do my first circuit before I fall gratefully into the outdoor balinese bed. The ship motors hum and the water pushing us forward sound like the waterfalls in Hawaii. I stare at the ships trail into the ocean until I am gently rocked to sleep. I can never stay awake there. Next is another circuit of bubblies then the heated tile lounger caresses my back and legs with its radiating warmth.

There is still so much I want to do. The water slides, dance classes, ice carving demostration, towel folding but intend I grab a small bite to eat and prepare for a quick nap. On the next page is a pic from the Freestyle Dailies listing almost everything I want to do, after being lazy.

  8. Evening 6

Our evening was even better than the day!! I enjoy the spa while Troy watches a movie and then watch sail away from the aft balcony. We go to Burn the Floor which is good, excellent dancing, but a bit of a whirlwind toward the end. I enjoy another Bushwacker through the show, they are just so nummy.

Dinner steals the show as we had the best dinner so far tonight. It is so good, and we've travelled a lot, that Troy easily places it in his top 50. They give us unlimited, which means 4 pieces each, of filet mignon. That's probably a pound each!!! It is even better than Cagneys which is stunning because that was delicious. I've again had far too much to eat as I also had salmon sushi, grilled pineapple, cheese bread, asparagus, sausage, and mashed potatoes. We skip desert for the first time.

Troy is off at the casino while I recover.

Again, music is way too loud and the DJ is even worse. I can barely hear the TV. This is my biggest complaint. Everything else is pretty awesome and can be worked around if not.

  9. Day 6

Cozumel. Neverending ocean of aqua blues, shopping, and beaches. It's just a bonus that the weather is almost always sunny and warm. Today we go to a little hole in the wall place just across from the Hotel Villablanca. It has seating for at most 50 people on two levels with 10 loungers out front. What makes this place an amazing hidden gem is the fantastic snorkeling along their pier.

We have a late breakfast of French toast, sausage, orange juice, and a bear claw. Then we head off the ship and grab one of the bicycle guys for an easy breezy ride to the shops. In a short amount of time we are in a taxi and for 8 dollars, we are there. I grab a lounge chair and order a delicious strawberry daiquiri and I hit the water. It is easy to get in here as they have steps leading right into the water and only 10 feet out you start to see the fish. The colors are just amazing, light blue, lavendar, green with bright purple spots, yellow angelfish, rainbow fish, bright purple, yellow zebra, larger red fish, and some white fish the size of my leg! The water goes from 4 feet to 15 feet deep quite quickly but is so calm a man is taking his 6 year old daughter out with floats.

After snorkeling for a bit I come back in to enjoy my drink and lounge for a bit, then I swim back out to some hammocks in the water and relax there for awhile. It is beautiful and peaceful here with a mix of ocean sounds and pop rock ( not too loud though).

Troy snorkels, has a drink, and drifts off for two hours. Nearly a perfect relaxing day. For 6 USD we head back to shopping and I purchase a gorgeous full carat blue diamond ring. I am now out of cash and only have an Amer Express so I hunt for somewhere I can get a t-shirt and come up empty. Other than that, great day!!!
