So did you actually get the Air Fare credit included on this cruise?

It doesn’t seem to be listed as one of the eligible cruises on the site so if you did that would be interesting - https://crystalcruises.com/offer/us-air-credit-2023-07-31

yes That's what brought the fare down  after seeing the $3000 fare. I booked through Crystal on the phone then he transferred it to my TA as I asked him to:) He had already booked 4 rooms before this was announced on Crystals website he told me and expects to be very busy tomorrow .I only found out about it thanks to cruise critic  people🙂

LOL that was my first thought. 😉 I realize we can ask to have them made up as a queen, but I would have thought that a better thing to do for the SGRs is to have a regular full-sized bed (one that doesn't split into two twins). Since that cabin will always be only for one person, they could even have the bed size be something smaller than a queen, making the cabin feel more spacious. But maybe it was less costly for them to have all the cabins have the exact same beds.

plus there is no such thing as forever in cruising,  nor in life frankly... I don't care as long as I can select queen size as an option

Why does a solo room have twin beds? Sure hope they combine to make a king/queen type bed.

In the guest preferences area of the Crystal website, I was able to chose queen vs twin, so I am pretty sure this will be the case

That is a SERIOUS bargain! 7 days on a Crystal ship for only $2000 in your own single cabin? WOWZA! Now I wish I could do it! Unfortunately I can't...I will have just returned from French Polynesia. But if I could, I'd jump on that in a heartbeat!

total fare w air credit and discounts and taxes $2370  for single stateroom And of course, I don't remember  so I book portside as often as possible 🙂

Just booked my single stateroom I had no idea about the air credit and had forgotten about the cs discount

All told, $2000 for a single stateroom!!! As of a few minutes ago there are only three singlestaterooms left, and I think all on starboard side, because I got the last room on the portside!!! Don't wait on this one,or the following 2 ,   seven day cruises

Error  actual  fare w taxes etc, $2370 still    a bargain!!!!  🙂

I think this is a once in a lifetime special circumstance.  This time period was supposed to have been a Panama Canal Round trip to Costa Rica but was cancelled due to low water levels at the canal.  A good opportunity for some people but with sadness for others.

    Enjoy that cruise.

    Roy

True and I understand this won’t likely happen again, or at least not in my lifetime!  Lol   The single staterooms are $ 3000  due to the  single supplement,  but even at that,  the fare I is still a bargain to me I’m having my TA work on booking me this am.Phones were not working right, when she called them late afternoon,  so she is going to try this am..

  8. As one who has never been to the Caribbean I am really tempted to take one of those cruises even though I will have just returned  from Japan  on Nov1  Fares starting at $2500 for a week is a bargain  . I may take the train to Miami as I prefer to not fly when I can ..but air would be less expensive then getting a room or roomette on Amtrack so I may have to just get over it and fly more(only  flying back home because Japan is my happy place and worth it.AS   told Anand  my bf, there are only 4 countries where I would fly to  for  a vacation: 1.The UK because of Wimbledon and a tea shop in Camden I have been a customer for a long time)

2.India  because 'my bf is from Chennai, and I have ben there once and loved it     3.Australia   4. Japan- a no brainer

Anyone want to join me on the cruise which falls on my birthday, Dec 6? I would like to form a trivia team as well. as dinner if any of you don't mind a s solo traveler eating with you 🙂

    Roy,

What's you opinion of HAL Westerdam?  Asking for a friend.

I  have cruised with Hal twice and one was  on the Westerdam ,the other time Volendam Doing a third crossing  to Japan early October, and will continue on around Japan for the next segment.I  last cruised Fall of 2019 , AND I did not find much to do both day and at night and assume nothing will be better, entertainment /enrichment wise. But the staff is friendly, ocean view cabin not large but adequate and comfortable, and I believe has more storage space due to changes during the Crystal Cruises renovation.I never went to the premium restaurants as I am a solo traveler and didn’t need to be around a restaurant full of couples and feeling like the odd person out.I enjoy lots of sedans so it is a great cruise for me.I did enjoy the spa as I would on Crystal, but there is no paddle  tennis like on Crystal I do not drink so I can’t comment on that/ Reasonably priced cruise line, but  imho you won’t have the experience of a luxury line because this is a mainstream line

    I give up.

In every possible way, Oceania is better than Crystal.

    Whew.

( I have no idea why I am blowing my money on Crystal cruises.....now that I have been shown the light and the truth)

So why do you  continue to frequent this board? Why are you seemingly trying to tell people which cruise lines they should like/ cruise with? There are a lot of choices out there  but  those of us on this board tend to favor Crystal  1.or we wouldn't continue sailing with them or,2. for the most part ,continue to post here. The only opinion that matters is our own .No amount of pressure /negativity about Crystal(or any other line I choose to sail with) is going to change my mind.

In part of the USA it is "Hot", "Hot", "Hot".  This includes where I live. Some of our wildlife needs to rest more.  This critter was alive and I saw him while returning from a run on the entrance of our neighborhood street.

Giving the weather where we live is a piece of cake.  Highs over the next seven day as they have been recently 100 to 105 with lows in the mid to upper 70's yet the weather folks end up speaking for a few minutes telling you basically nothing.

I too have fond memories of Catalina Island as I am from SoCal and my grandparents used to have    ahome on Clarissa St..Flying fish boats, glas bottom bots, tour up through middle Ranch where the Wrigleys usedt to have Arabian horses(Which I have owned and loved   in the late 80's )My grandmother also had a llama named Don Pedron who was adoreable and we were allowed to ride him.She eventually gave or sold the llama to a ranch on Catalina which was part of the Inland motor tour, sio I was able to see him again . Oh and I cantt forget   the penny arcade, the salt water taffy making store on the ocean front, and my beloved Sea Monkeys! LOL Also   we used to be able to take an amphibious seaplane from Long Beach to Catalina loved taxiing down into the ocean and landing by Pebbly Beach on Catalina Island 🙂
