  1. Hi, I have noticed people saying they take stugeron at all different times. I am hoping someone can tell me the most effective way. Is it best the night before the cruise? Or is it best to take on-board. Also how many days do you continue? Is it the whole cruise or just the Bay of Biscay?

    Thanks in advance.

Follow the instructions on the packet if you know there are rough seas ahead.

  2. There were serious weather conditons around Venice last week and with the recent storms and winds here and in Europe, it is not surprising that you are experiencing problems out there. It is disappointing, but nothing can be done versus such weather conditions.

The fact that Queen V got in where you didn't is probably because of her different structure and other technical reasons that you and I know nothing of as laypeople.

I think you are risking missing out on the overall enjoyment of your cruise if you can't accept this for what it is, which would be a big shame.

Try and relax and enjoy being onboard the lovely Oriana. I would gladly swap places with you.

    :)

    I could not agree more.

Enjoy the cruise. Catania is not Venice admittedly and segway is certainly not ideal but I've visited there many times and enjoyed it.

Unfortunately adverse weather does happen on any cruise , can't do anything about it. Accept it and enjoy Oriana but I wouldn't cancel the next one.

  3. I roll most things bar tux and lounge suit, I've just had a trial run to see what you can actually get in and keep within the 23 kilo weight limit, in hubbys case, 10 underwear, 9pr socks, 2 shorts, 5 tee shirts, 2 swim trunks, dressing gown, gym gear, formal shoes, deck shoes, pool sandals and trainers. 10 casual shirts, 2 pr chinos, 1 pr lightweight pants. tux & 2 dress shirts, lounge suit & 2 dress shirts. Toiletries, suntan cream, half bottle whisky. Case at 20.3 kilos

In my case even more including 9 changes of outfits for evenings, lots of day wear, swimwear, gym gear, underclothes, dressing gown & nightie, 2 evening bags,2 pr evening shoes, trainers, sandals and pool shoes, toiletries, large medical case, and believe it or not an 8 pk of fevertree small tonics, (I buy the Gin on board but don't like paying nearly £2 for small tin of tonic) Case at 21.9 kilos.

It can be done, I rest my case. Viv x

Or you pack your case .........:D

  4. I was well within the 23Kg limit for a 31 night fly cruise! Not counting what you are wearing 2 pairs of chinos, 3 pairs of shorts, dinner suit, 2 pairs of posh shoes for evening, deck shoes, beach shoes, shirts, underwear etc etc. Make use of the free ships laundry and all is well.

Remember the advice, lay out all you want to pack on the bed, then put half of it away because you don't need it, maybe repeat this process.

Good advice. Also roll up as many clothes as possible rather than lying them flat in the case. That may mean a spot of ironing before wearing. :D

  5. Oh yes. I wouldn't have posted in it had I realised it had been resurrected.

Anyway then I wonder if the O P enjoyed their cruise and if they did end up booking any more P & O.

Oh blooming heck .......Who resurrected this thread.? Must admit that I didn't notice the date.:wine-glass::wine-glass:However 23kgs is still manageable 5 years on .....

  6. The baggage allowance is nothing to do with the cruise line. They are imposed by the airline.

Yes. Not a problem. Can be done. There are launderettes on board. I went on a 2 week cruise and took enough for a week and washed half way through. Who cares if you appear in the same clothes several times.

  7. I went with a friend in June , my first cruise. Our accounts were completely separate. We had different drinks , coffees and drinks from the bar and gave our own cruise cards for payment when we ordered. No problem. We did have room service twice but as I was the lead name , it was charged to my account so my friend bought me a couple of drinks , to balance it out. Worked out fine.

  8. Does anyone know why my cruise personaliser for Azura A802 has Thomson flights from Manchester leaving at 12:00 but my latest summary received after payment last week says flight is 08:00. Which is most likely to be right?.

Where are you flying to ?

  9. Was on Aurora last month and the only people in the bars with pagers (and they are really annoying when they go off!) were those insisting on tables for 2 of which there are not very many.

People who went down and didn't mind sharing were generally seated straight away. I was on 2nd sitting on that cruise (which is generally what you get on a Saver now on the id sized ships) but I've done Freedom as a sole and always been seated immediately as long as I don't mind sharing, which I don't.

The long queue from about ten to six astounded me. Why? That's not Freedom Dining! I wouldn't wait 40 minutes for a table, or for a show!

Same happened on our Baltic cruise on Arcadia. At 6 when Freedom dining opened , there was a queue down to the photo area. Like you I don't really understand why!

  10. I think the original question was regarding the security or otherwise of the E-mail.

Well aware of focus groups, however, would ask how they obtained the e-mail address and were able to tie it into a P&O cruiser?

Also seems odd that different remunerations are being offered.

Would I risk my on line security for £70.00, no way.

    But each to there own

The original poster said there was a phone number so there's no harm in phoning to ask. Also they , whoever they are , will have got the email address from P and O and know they have been on a cruise. The Op has not actually said if it is from P and O or a market research company.

I would give it a go. I also do online surveys and most recently a group in Manchester .

  11. Its pure greed from P&O .

The prices on board are not cheap, £3.95 for a can of beer is daylight robbery and I live in the South. People tend to drink and eat at places that they can afford, and a P&O ship might equate to a once in a month pub or restaurant visit. If you are a captive audience for 14 days then it can be very expensive. Not everyone drinks a £5 glass of wine over dinner - every night.

I recall cruising on Ocean Village 2. Apparently this ship took more money in alcohol sales than any other. It catered for the UK market and the alcohol prices were duty free cheap, not some made up South East price.

A vast number of people took alcohol onto our recent cruise, likewise the amount coming on board at port stops was plentiful. If this is stopped people will simply go elsewhere once they factor in daft on alcohol board prices.. I'm not sure cruising is the be all and all for large numbers of people. P&O have bust a gut to attract non cruisers to their ships the sort of people who usually holiday all inclusive.

Incidentally all the bars on board were extremely busy but they think they can squeeze more from people. Well let the people vote with their feet I guess.

"P&O have bust a gut to attract non cruisers to their ships the sort of people who usually holiday all inclusive "

Where's your evidence for this sweeping statement? I am a first time cruiser and I can tell you that I am definitely not the sort of person who goes all inclusive. In fact I have never been on any kind of all inclusive and would never want to.

Yes it is a captive audience but I am on holiday . If I felt the drinks really were too expensive then I don't buy them. It wouldn't stop me going on a cruise. It doesn't stop me going on holiday to Scandinavia where alcohol prices are prohibitive.

    Horses for courses.

  12. So do you all think it is genuine then? It says it will last approx 2 hours so £70 is a lot for 2 hours but I suppose the expense of getting there has to be factured in as well.

I used to work for a company who did market research on behalf of large , well known companies. Is the email from PandO themselves or a market research company?

    They were called "focus groups".

  13. Just a thought. If this proves to be correct , I think it may well annoy some of those who have cabins with a balcony rather than those who have inside or restricted viewwith no balcony.

It must be pleasant to sit on the balcony with a nice chilled glass of vino or g and t.Far more chilled than a noisy pub/bar.

However I think the wine was priced on par with a pub/restaurant and was excellent value and quality.

I didn't take any alcohol on board. Personally I couldn't be bothered to carry it and I certainly wasn't going to buy it in the Baltic countries.

  14. I was on that cruise too.

Warford Lady, I could not agree more. I was astounded that they had to remind everyone by 'cabin memo'. There's enough warnings around that they shouldn't need to say it over and over.

Sleeptastic - I'd forgot about that smell on the Prom deck. it comes out of those vents - like you I can't figure out why people still sit around there.

At least any smell is now being directed outside now, and not in the Art gallery area.

Unfortunately people do place all sorts down the loos . If you look at the Britannia smells thread , it may be possible that the smells have originated from foreign bodies put down loos. It sometimes amazes me that people leave their brains behind when they go on holiday and choose not to read warnings and instructions.

By rubbishing the company, and seeking to recruit others to enhance your position, and further more, adding other peoples situation on to yours, will not help you.

Time and reason and privacy is what is required IMHO.

Those that shout loudest usually do so from a position of weakness IMHO

Well said. This unfortunately happened to you on your cruise but that doesn't mean to say it should stop others from going on Britannia.
