  1. We are going in two weeks. Got a call from travel agent to collect yesterday. All info is now on the cruise personaliser but wasn't put on there until the last minute because the t.a said that they would leave it as late as possible because we would be inundated with marketing from P and O.

  2. All coach passengers are given a venue, where an officer is in touch with the disembarkation team. They direct you when the team are ready, usually first after luggage is ready in the hall. About 8:50 ish.

    Hope this helps.:)

    Yes Thankyou

  3. Ah ok, let's hope she berths at the Langalini, I remember the ship was close to the mermaid and the walk very nice.

Perhaps not in Copenhagen but on recent cruises we have had the least favourable berth with Celebrity ships taking prime positions. [emoji53]

I would love to go back to Copenhagen it is one of the ports which stands out in my memories as we had such a lovely day. I seem to recall lunch ashore was quite expensive though.

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

I have visited Stockholm and Copenhagen in the past few years although not on a cruise. I am saving my pennies ........

  4. Stockholm and Helsinki have Ho Ho buses available in the port, but these are expensive, so if P&O do a free shuttle here then I would use them.

Copenhagen is walk-able if you berth at Langalinie, but if you are at the new cruise terminal its a heck of a long walk, but there are service buses that run from the port and drop you off at the little Mermaid or at Stroget, as well as Ho Ho buses.

And of course all the ports have taxis available, which can be economic if 4 share the cost..

Thankyou for the info. According to the port website we are due to dock at Langalinie .

  5. Here is a copy of the Shuttle information I downloaded from the P&O site about a year ago - may not be 100% accurate now,

Thankyou for that. Will have another look on Pando website to see if there is an upto date one.

  6. Chargeable shuttles average less than 2 per cruise normally, when you take account of free port shuttles, and ports where walking straight into town is possible. So not really a major valuable benefit for select passengers.

I must admit I will try and walk from the ship where possible but it looks like Stockholm , Helsinki and Copenhagen are too far. Anyone had experience of these ports?

I have looked on the port websites to see where Arcadia docks at the ports we are visiting.

  7. We have booked Select fare for our Baltic cruise in June and shuttle buses , if any , are included.

At the ports , does P and O provide the buses or the port? And are they all free on Select as stated?

  8. I just tried booking a room in Southampton on Saturday 1st July for my Azura cruise on the sunday. Everything seems to be fully booked. what is going on, this has the makings of a disaster

    Hello davecttr

We are due to sail on a Sunday. Public transport is a pain in the country so we have booked the coach with p and o (cruise connect?)

Is there one from your part of the world? It would probably be less stressful.

Feel free to shoot me down if it is a daft suggestion.:D

  9. Our book in time is 2.30 pm , so we will go really wild and eat lunch on the way down......you never know , it might catch on

Don't tell peteukmcr that. He dismissed the idea that those of us who were on a long coach transfer would miss lunch and I said that we would need to take a "packed lunch" . He nearly had a thrombie :eek:

We can't all embark when we want , we all have a time which we will try to stick to and no matter what we have paid , then we all embark at the same time on a coach.

So go wild and perhaps even have a packed lunch:D:D

  10. I enjoy reading the ship and port reviews in anticipation of a cruise. It helps me to plan what to do / problems to avoid.

I also try to learn / brush up on some of the languages in ports of call. In reality it is just enough to say please and thank you, ask where the toilet is and order food etc but it's fun to do.

Bee-ess, amen to that. I am always happy if the evening clothes still fit!

Exactly , Eglesbrech. Really enjoy all of the planning.

This is my first ever cruise. Have to say that I am brushing up on my Swedish and Russian.Looking forward to the whole experience.

  11. I think if you book on a "minimum grade guarantee" basis you could legitimately infer you have been "upgraded" if you get a higher grade than the minimum grade that which was stated as "guaranteed". If you book a "minimum inside cabin" and get the best inside this cannot be regarded as an "upgrade" as you have got the "minimum" the cruise line needs to give you. If you were allocated a suite against a "minimum inside cabin" booking, I cannot see this as not being an upgrade because it is what you contracted to get if things went ridiculously well in your favour.

If you like the idea of being upgraded in my opinion you need to book "A" class cabins but then if you get upgraded it will be meaningful.

    Regards John

John , we have now received the upgrade in print and although it is on E deck restricted view which is what we asked for , the upgrade is from grade NC to NB so I have emailed P and O to ask what the difference is between the two. Perhaps it is because there is a bath and shower?:)

  12. How would I do that on p&o website, can you look at specific rooms ?

Not sure about Britannia but we went on the P and O website Faqs to see a photo of a cabin with a restricted view on Arcadia. If you can't find a photo , try Googling it. I would stay with the balcony upgrade.

    Best wishes

  13. We have been allocated a cabin on Arcadia on E. deck restricted view , no problem as that is what we asked for. On the cruise personaliser there are now the e luggage labels available to print. As we booked Select fare and said we would like an upgrade if available , does that mean that that is what we are going to get or can it change?:D

  14. We bought variouse currencies recently for the Baltic in June but were told by Thomas Cook that roubles aren't available to buy currently, due to restrictions imposed. I read that euros and dollars are often accepted in touristy areas but that doesn't help the cash-for-loo and small purchases of course. Hopefully the tour guides will have some tips on best places to exchange currency.

    Hi Ginb56

Have been able to buy roubles over the counter , without ordering them , at M and S. They have them in stock at the local one.

Yes good idea , the guide will probably be the one to ask. Perhaps she/he would provide a few roubles in exchange for some euros. They are apparently keen for foreign currency. If we really only need a fairly small amount , it may be easier to use an ATM. I know there is a charge but it would be a one-off.

  16. Many passengers do not realise the reason for tongs /ladles and spoons etc at the servery of The Buffett.

Some people we all know do not wash their hands correctly or if at all after using the lavatory nor do they use the hand gels and wash basins provided in the eatery.

If you use your hands to pick up food from the servery then there is a strong possibility that other parts of your hand will contaminate the food that's still in the serving containers.

Germs can obviously be transferred to the serving implements but when they are used to transfer the food to your plate it is only the handle part that gets contaminated, not the rest of the food other passengers are going to serve .

Norovirus bug is usually transferred by mouth contact so try and not touch your mouth with your hands if you have just used the serving implements, same applies to chair rests and handrails, door handles etc.

Many people will make contact with their hand to face without realising it.

Best measure is to carry your own anti virus foam.

Yes I wholeheartedly agree. And it only needs one or two not to have washed or sanitised their hands. My father drove us mad when I was young , he was obsessed with hand washing , he was a doctor , but I grew up to understand why.

Fortunately cases of foreign bodies in food are rare and can happen anywhere.
