I'm in the NN/Yorktown area and will be boarding tomorrow.  Weather has calmed way down, but yeah, lots of rain all up and down I-95 today. Very messy drive.

hope you have of had a good time. I think you are on the ship right now.

Vision might get to return to Baltimore by June 1st.

What would you have the Hotel Manager do? As a parent I absolutely agree that it is terrible to be letting your kids run around unsupervised, especially in a library or similar location. I'm not defending that.
But the Hotel Manager and staff are in a no win situation. How exactly would they control that?

aw but they have a responsibility to keep other passengers safe.  Running and bumping into people and causing them to fall and end up in the medical center is not right.

I am not impressed with the crew members who let situations get worse.  They have the right and should use good judgement to stop running.  Too many crew members only want smiles not complaints and they come off as lazy if the won't get involved.

On a ship last year, I saw a kid in buffet during the very busy times just running around fast in and out of tables and people carrying food.  I said something to one of the mangers with a suit and he just smiled and shrugged.  The next day I saw the same thing and mentioned to him again that if he did not stop the kid and say something to the parents, then if I was bumped and fell down, I would sue the cruise lines and especially mention his name.

Guess what within a couple of minutes he went over to the parents and stopped it.

Crew members need to keep the peace and safety of all. They are not there to listen and talk amongst themselves and ignore what is going on.  I think they are afraid of a bad rating.

I am sorry but people are minding their own business too much if safety is involved and they look the other way.

  3. I find it odd that Princess won't ask for dining requests at the time of booking. So many other cruise lines will.

But for last year on my Alaska cruise, once I paid in full I was able to book.  I found it interesting and good that I could book any MDR and any hour and table I wanted.   So Princess is that er odd but stick with it and keep up to date.

Everyone is going to have their own experiences with the weather, but if you look at averages, then May is much drier in Alaska than September.  Compared with May, average September rainfall is 65% higher in Ketchikan, more than 2.5 times higher in Juneau, and nearly 5 times higher in Anchorage.  As others have noted, May also has much longer hours of daylight.

And the Coral Princess is a much better ship for Alaska than Caribbean Princess.

YES YES YES I agree.  Snow still on mountains for nice photos in May and best is 3rd week or 4th.  Sept can be miserable with fog and drizzly weather.

I found June to be almost perfect.

Yikes such terrible news!   I am so saddened to hear of the loss of life of two crew members, how tragic!

And the awful news for our Princess of Wales and her young family.  I have been upset about the bullying nature of the media.    A cancer diagnosis is always hard to process with out such intense scrutiny.

We so enjoyed seeing her and Prince William when they visited Alberta on their honeymoon.  Wishing her all the best and the time and space to receive treatment and heal.

I feel for William right now.  His father and wife ill. and issues with Harry.  My goodness he needs some prayers too.

What a terrible day; first the Princess of Wales reveals a cancer diagnosis, and now to hear that 2 crew members of the Nieuw Amsterdam have been killed in an onboard explosion.

Heartfelt prayers for a full recovery for the Princess, and for the souls of those killed and for all who knew and loved them.

I know and news is also sad for the two wars and the USA elections and well just so many sad stories on the news.  I thought Kate did the right thing and talk directly to the camera and I liked her comment about "you are not alone"  I think she recover nicely.

Taking a tour of the entire Alaska Rail system is a definite bucket list item, such a trip is very pricey though.

well there is a difference between the upper area near Anchorage and Denali, and the Skagway train which is strictly sightseeing.

The upper area has many combinations out of Anchorage or Fairbanks.

I just know 4 or 5 days ago, on another site there was a post from someone on board Rotterdam that said they had pulled away from the dock at St Maarten and suddenly gone dead in the water, no power, mechanical problem, concluded the poster. In fact, it turned out to be a medical evacuation.

yea in fact overall since I joined CC I hear more stories about every cruise line.

So many things can and will go wrong. Feel bad for the families of the two.

  9. Like others might have said, if pricing for 1, the website should not bring up rooms that require 3-4.  And also have an option to select no changes if you still want the room.

Glad I have stopped sailing on HAL as I do not like the changes/refund policies and so now this is also annoying as well.

Maybe we shouldn't rush to release such info? Maybe let HAL do it?

I agree then you know the whole story.

Wow this was certainly sad.   I would be nervous if I were a crew member living near that part of the ship.
