  2. OP wanted a beach - none in Old San Juan.

    Yes Condado or Isla Verde.

Condado Hilton. On beach, nice casino. Same for Marriott.

Might want to price check Embassy Suites in Isla Verde. Beach is a short two block walk. Lots of restaurants nearby. Casino onsite. Usually a little more reasonable rates than the oceanfront properties.

    Condado Hilton it is!!

  3. My hubby and I are considering sailing on RCI's Adventure of the Seas in May 2015. Our intention is to come in a day or 2 in advance of the cruise.

If you've previously done the same, where nearby did you stay? I'd like to be at a hotel not more than a couple of blocks away (it would be great to be able to SEE the pier from the hotel). I need suggestions a.s.a.p. Thanks in advance! :)

  5. We're booked to go on the Freedom with family in Feb 2014.

Our Travel Agent has assured us that the cabins we have been allocated definitely have twin beds which can be moved to make a king-size.

Having checked some deck plans on here, the 2 cabins in question 8357 & 7345 would appear to have bunks.

I don't mind so much but there's an 80 yr old couple booked into 7345 which isn't great if the cabin has bunks.

Can anyone categorically confirm the bedding arrangements in these 2 cabins on Freedom?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    maybe this can help

  8. We will be on Indy in November and will be in port in San Juan on Thanksgiving Day. I've been searching the internet for information about what may or may not be open that day, since Puerto Rico is an American Territory.

Has anyone been there during Thanksgiving? Is the free trolley running? Are the forts open?? Restaurants??

Castillo San Cristobal & Castillo San Felipe del Morro are open to the public everyday 9:00am to 6:00pm except on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year's Day. Its a Big holiday here...no work, no schools only the tourist areas are open.!! All shopping centers are closed!

  9. Brad Alexander is the BEST!! We were in the piano bar every night of our last cruise, on the Liberty, and loved every minute of it. He's currently on the Splendor and they are lucky to have him. So wish he was going to be on the Breeze next month!

true his the best!!! Brad Alexander!! his so much fun!!!

  10. Yes, I remember and sailed on her Feb 18, 1995. Still have the Odess America brochure Cruise Line of the Czars. Probably a collectors item now. There were only 110 passengers...ship would hold 400. Ship was spotless. Russian/Ukrainian food. The trip was a real adventure with the highlight being a van trip 4 hours inland to the Ruins of Copan. The Hondouran people were the poorest of poor but happy. My wife still talks about "her little Jenny"...A small girl who was selling replica artifacts. The children were agressively persistant but pleasant and when you would say no they would reply with "maybe later..maybe later? It was truly an enjoyable trip for us. We have been on 13 cruises but will never forget this one.

How nice to Know someone how remembers this ship, been on a few cruises, but as you said, i will never forget this one..Yes I took the tours to copan, at that time the they had a road construction, it was an adventure and copan its a dream!..I remember the crew almost no one spoke inglish and on their off time, you can see them learning english...

the cruise director i remenber was from cuba..and spoke spanish!

Thats why i prefer small ships that mega ships..its not the same to serve 800 that 3000!

I found out that this ship name now its Van Gogh doing (British Isles In Bloom) and (Norwegian Fjords Apple Blossom)...I miss this ship..I loved the itinerary they used to have..
