  1. I just did it on the Fantasy and there’s a time window to pick them up and it’s no big deal. If you miss your window, you can go to guest services and get them there. Also, I believe if you’re platinum, diamond or FTTF they drop them off in your cabin.

  2. As for me, my husband of almost 24 years knows that I need my space. Once the kids were out of high school and I was no longer tied to their schedules I took a couple of short land vacations on my own. My husband was ok with that, especially since he couldn't get time away from work and I could and we needed to use up some timeshare points. Two years ago when I was looking at retirement and hubby was not, I got it into my head that a solo cruise would be the BEST THING EVER. I casually mentioned this to hubby and he let the comment pass. I retired a year and a half ago; hubby is still working. We've cruised together since then. When I told him I was considering booking this cruise he said he didn't think he could take vacation then and I said, uh, I'd really like to go by myself. After a brief pause, he said, oh, okay. The only thing that bugs him is that I didn't get a good deal. I had just let a great deal get away from me and was feeling very impulsive - had to take this cruise kind of thinking. SO - in a nutshell - plant the seed, break it to the spouse/partner over time, until there's no getting around it.

In less than a month I get to find out if solo cruising is the BEST THING EVER. Woo hoo.;)

Oh - and another thing, I'm driving to Charleston on our 24th anniversary and starting the cruise the next day. When I booked over the phone the rep and I were discussing cruising solo; then she asked if I was celebrating anything (if yes, it will show up in your booking and sometimes you get a little something from Carnival) and I laughed and said our anniversary but I guess that doesn't count and she said sure it does - you and your husband will be celebrating, just not together. So she noted it in my booking - let's see if I get anything.;p

I just may have to give this a go. I do love some “me” time

  3. I feel your pain!! I'm kind of a "Newbie" cruiser myself with four under my belt now, and another coming up in 19 days! Whooo Ya!! I start getting the blues on my last sail day..... I truly am hooked on cruising! I saw the best advise repeated on here several times.... BOOK ANOTHER CRUISE! ..... In between cruises, I watch a lot of YouTube cruise videos, and live vicariously through others! Crazy huh??

I do the same thing you do by watching videos and whatnot...not crazy. I do have two booked too but I’m not there yet and I’m not being patient. I do like the CruiseCritic board though and discussing cruising with others....I probably like that too much too haha.

  4. I am red and will reach 25 points the first night of our conquest cruise in October. I already printed my luggage tags and if I pull up my vifp info it still shows red!

Well I guess I will need an update in October because that’s my exact situation. Thinking once you get there it’ll change because then your “really” there lol

  5. Thank you! I heard lido is a good floor too from people i know but they have been on other ships. Hopefully its the same regardless. Either way it beats being at work for 4 days haha.

Not sure how i feel about the mailbox keys.

I’m sure the keys will be fine. I read you just use your boarding pass until you get them, everything is secure, can still utilize Cheers [emoji4]. I’m just excited to be near the pool, bars, Guys and Blue Iguana as that’s where we spend most of our day

  6. Looks like we may be running into each other because we also have a cabin on the lido deck and I’m very excited about that. From all I’ve read and heard, most people love those cabins. As far as the SS cards in the mailboxes...I believe that to be true

  7. Just curious if you park at the Mobile Port or if you park off site? We are sailing out of Mobile and that will be our first cruise from that Port. I have not had any luck finding any off site parking.

Mobile Port is the best bet I believe. That said, we stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn and they have a park and stay rate where you still park at the port but it is significantly discounted. Unfortunately, we stayed on points and didn’t take advantage of the offer. Very nice hotel too btw

  8. That also depends on who you book with and how much they drink - for me i dont drink so not worth double the price for hubby to have it

100 percent agree. If one in the party isn’t a drinker then I don’t see how it could ever be worth it.

  9. For everyone it's different. I'm usually back on the boat by 4-5. By that point, I'm looking to get rehydrated from the drinks and sun I just had, and get ready for dinner. Three drinks before dinner, I admire your enthusiasm lol.

Haha...thanks, I think. Let’s be honest though, the basic drinks on the ship aren’t terribly strong. I guess I’m saying that in my defense lol

  10. Based on what I'm reading, you will have 24 days at the end of your upcoming cruise, which means you will still be red. IF you are hitting day 25 DURING the next cruise, you will be gold on the day that you board.

Yes, you’re correct. Appreciate the feedback.

  11. I still think Cheers is worth it even on port days. You’re back on the ship usually by mid afternoon...a drink or three before dinner, a couple after dinner or in the casino. Perhaps an Irish coffee in the evening or a specialty coffee in the morning (the regular coffee at breakfast is blah in my opinion). Not to mention waters, etc. For approx $50 a day I really do think it’s a decent deal considering it’s more than just alcohol and you don’t need to think about “should I have this or that...wonder what my tab is?” etc.

  12. How does Carnival handle a status change during a cruise? For example, my next cruise will get me to 24 days (25 is required for Gold). With the following cruise will I still be Red or since I’ll hit Gold during the cruise will I be Gold from the start? I know it doesn’t mean a whole lot but I was just wondering. Thanks in advance.

  13. A few days ago I stepped off the Carnival Fantasy after a great family trip to Costa Maya and Cozumel and ever since then I can't stop thinking about another cruise. Yes, I have one scheduled for December but it seems years, not months away. Just the thought of going to work tomorrow....ugh...can't even describe it. So the question to my fellow cruisers is this....how do you all handle the Post Cruise Blues?
