  1. We recently (9-3-18) did the:

CARTAGENA & LA MANGA 4 1/2 HOURS At Cabo de Palos, a gray stone lighthouse that began operating in 1865, you'll stop for photos.  Driving on to La Manga Cavana, you'll have approximately 45-minutes of free time for shopping or a snack before heading back to Cartagena.  After riding an elevator up to Conception Castle, you'll enjoy a superb panoramic view of Cartagena, its naturally sheltered port, and even an old bullring built over a Roman gladiator arena. You'll have plenty of time to wander about and drink in the views, before descending to elegant Calle Mayor, one of the city's finest thoroughfares for shopping and dining.

Guide was mediocre at best.  Many people abandoned the tour when it got close to the pier.  Description makes it sound much better than it actually was.  I enjoyed the tour sites, and although I would agree with others who abandoned tour based upon guides performance I stuck it out to the end.  I do my own research and in this case was as knowledgeable as the guide was able to express her knowledge.  She may have known more but was very limited in her ability to get the info across to those on the tour.

  2. Back from our 11 day cruise.  Soy milk is available, but you do need to ask.  You only need to ask once and it will be brought to your table after that without the need to ask.  Service is beyond excellent.

  3. Thanks GD.  Are you on board now or do you have a special line to the kitchen?  We arrive this Saturday evening very late and will waive to you as they throw you off to make room for us.

  4. I wear pants that have rather large pockets on the thighs.  Similar in look to military type trousers, but not camo.  Fill the carry on.  Fill the personal item and then fill your pockets.  I have some camera gear, but it is the dive gear that requires the adapt, improvise and overcome mentality.

  5. Thanks Wendy and Justme.  This is our second trip.  However, the first was back when Regent was in charge.  Very similar to what we did with Regent.  Kicked off the boat.  Took a tour and then day room.  Thrown out of the room and forced to sit in the airport for hours because the flight was delayed.  This time the flight is outrageously late so I can only expect to spend a long time at the airport even if the flight is on time.  Still excited about the trip and looking forward to every minute including the hours at the airport.  We may just spring for the $$$ to sit in the VIP lounge although that is a little pricey.

  6. Here is a link to a Youtube video of 881, the cabin next door.  It does appear from the video that it is more narrow than other cabins that we have been in on other Regent ships.  However, we have booked an aft cabin on the Splendor.  There is also a review of an Explorer aft cabin in the "Suite Guru".  I can't remember the cabin number so you will have to check the numbers for aft cabins and find it.  I also remember one comment on the aft cabin railings and that is they are solid, making it impossible to look out while sitting down.

  7. Found the answer to my question. To help others in the future here is some info.

First, do your searching using the term “Baggage Trolley”.

Here is a link to the Barcelona airport web page:

    http://www.aena.es/en/barcelona-airport/luggage.html

At the bottom of the page is a section entitled “Trolleys” with a link to an airport map showing the location for trolleys:

    Trolleys

The trolleys are available in the car parks, in departures floor of the different terminals, in the baggage reclaim halls and in the different boarding areas. You can consult their location on the airport maps.

Just find your terminal and floor and you are good to go.

  8. I also agree with MeHeartCruising. Taxi's are the best and cheapest mode of transportation from the airport to downtown if you have luggage. The only issue we have had is that we had a lot of luggage and we had to get a larger taxi to accommodate our bags.

Also agree that a hotel downtown is the best. Everything is within short walking distance and/or public transportation. I would also add that Barcelona has way too much to see in the short time you will be there. If possible to deviate your air and stay a few extra days you would not be disappointed.

You might want to look into Barcelona Day Tours. They have tours that will get you to the major attractions, pick you up at the airport and then drop you at your hotel.
