Hi fellow cruisers and welcome to the Red Sea. I'm not sure where in the world the Bungle66 picture shows but it looks very pretty.

Tomorrow we transit the Suez Canal as we head back to Europe.

I'm starting today's Red Sea journey with pictures of the security guards boarding the ship before we sailed through the 'pirate waters' around the Horn of Africa,,,

We visited Safaga in 2010 in our adventurous days and did the desert quad biking...

before heading into the town,...

Job's Tomb...

Salalah town

We heard a lot of complaints from passengers about the stop in Salalah. People said that the port was very industrial and a long way from the town (true) and that there isn't much to see in the town...also true although the beach is gorgeous. We like to get away from towns and had a wonderful trip to the coast and then up into the mountains to visit Job's Tomb.

Lovely to have you back on board Bee-ass and great pictures of the Muscat area. We haven't done the boat trip but it is on our 'to do' list.

After our time in Oman we are journeying to the Red Sea ports of Safaga, Sharm El-Sheikh and Aquaba tomorrow.

We have arrived in the UAE today and we continue our voyage with stops in Oman tomorrow,...Muscat and Salalah.

Our first visit to the UAE was in 2010 and the last one was in 2017 so our pictures reflect the spread of time although I have used the more modern ones where I can.

Dubai... in 2010 we were much more agile so did the more adventurous activities...

on our subsequent visits we used the HOHO bus, creek ferry and the metro system...much more sedate!

The was a school party enjoying a visit to the Hanging Gardens. A van had just delivered a vat of curry for their lunch...

Today we reach our last Indian port, Mumbai, before we head north west to the United Arab Emirates and the ports of Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Fujairah, Khor Fakkan etc.. i'm hoping that some passengers will board here as I know that P&O have done cruises in this area.

Our last stop was at the spice plantation

Panjim, the capital was a big, bustling city with a fabulous market...

We also visited the Church of the Immaculate Conception....

and the Basilica of Bom Jesus

India again today as we arrive in Mormugao, the port for Goa.

 We sail north again and dock in Mumbai tomorrow.

We did a trip from the port to the capital of Goa, Panjim and then out into the countryside to a spice farm...

Mormugao was very industrialised and the town wasn't particularly attractive so I'm glad we got to see other parts of the region.

Our favourite place to visit when we are in that area is the Kerala Backwaters and the trips on the converted rice barges....

You beat me to it again, Bee-ess and you have much better pictures of the town than I have but here are mine. We were in Kochi on Good Friday in 2017 and were amazed to see the Christian parades through the town...

Hi Bee-ess, your pictures of the elephant sanctuary are wonderful so thanks for posting them.

We are now sailing north west along the coast of India and will arrive in Mormugao, Goa tomorrow.

I have a long love affair with India and have visited many times on cruises and land tours. I love the history, the culture, colour and the hustle and bustle.

Kochi sail-in and out passing the Chinese nets.....

In 2020 we travelled from to Colombo into the centre of the island where we visited the Botanical Gardens.....

On our first visit in 2017 we did a tour down the coast to the city of Galle...

We visited the war cemetery many years ago and it left a lasting impression. A very moving and humbling experience.

It is Sri Lanka today and we dock in a rain storm. Tomorrow we head to India with our first stop being Cochin/Kochi.

We also enjoyed touring the city centre and seeing how much the city has grown since our first visit in 1994

Another day and another port but before we dock in Singapore, I'd like to say thank you to Adawn and Bee-ess for reminding me of happy memories of Hong Kong, especially flying in to and out of Kai Tak airport in the 1990s. That was a very scary experience. It seems strange now to be boarding a ship instead of a plane at kai Tak now!

We continue heading west tomorrow and dock in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

My Singapore pictures are mostly from our most recent visit in January 2020 with a couple from New Year 2014.

On our first visit in 1995, we went on the ferry across to Macau which had a very 'olde worlde' Portuguese feel....

We went back in 2019 via the newly opened bridge and we were amazed to find ourselves in 'Las Vegas'. The Chinese love to gamble!

It's always great fun to ride on the Peak tram and to see the views from the top...

Bee-ess has pulled into Hong Kong before me today so obviously an early riser!

We will have turned west tomorrow when we arrive in Singapore and its surrounding areas.
