  1. thanks for the replies... we still have adaptors (USA to NZ and Euro to NZ) from our cruise 2 years ago so that's all good we can use them if there are power and or USB outlets by the bed that will be very handy as on Celebrity they were by the desk from memory. one more question - what time are the shows in the theatre? just want to know so we can book / reserve a dining time that will fit in with the shows
  2. Thanks- we’ve booked an ‘obstructed balcony’ stateroom on deck 8 emerald deck. According to the confirmation that came through yesterday afternoon it’s an ‘angled’ balcony? I’ll google the room later as someone may have put a review of it on this site as for the drinks ill I’ll have to check that because I was under the assumption the package covered coffees like cappuccino/ flat white...etc if I downloaded the app on my phone and my whisper does the same on her phone (both iPhones) will they ‘sync’ with each other?
  3. Thanks for the replies - very helpful! I’ll download the app closer to the time looks like they don’t have set dining times but something called ‘dine my way’? We’ve got so much to learn about the ship and facilities before we go, but really looking forward to it I’m going to look for video clips of the ship on YouTube so I can get familiar with the layout
  4. Ok, so we’ve booked our cruise on Majestic for Feb 2023 Being a Princess newbie we’re going to have many questions before the cruise, so the first main question is – what restaurants / food / eating places are included in the cruise fare? I’ve looked at Princess website:- https://www.princess.com/ships-and-experience/food-and-dining/whats-included/ but this doesn’t actually list all the food places that are included - it looks like there are 2 main dining rooms? If someone can tell me what places are included in the cruise fare that would be much appreciated Also what power / electrical outlets do they have in your stateroom? From memory on celebrity there were 2 x USA and 1 x European power outlets Just need to know in case we need to buy any adaptors to plug in our USB chargers thanks in advance 😃
  5. that's good to know.... our Cruise in 2018 was the best thing we've ever done... Celebrity did set the bar pretty high, but looking forward to this one.... just have to check I can actually get the time off work!
  6. Thanks - yes we’ve both had covid.... even though we’re both fully vaccinated. I haven’t checked Princess Cruises covid policy, but I assume they’d want all passengers to be fully vaccinated?
  7. So we’ve reserved a stateroom on deck 8 of majestic princess for the cruise leaving Sydney (Australia) in February 2022 stateroom E432 the room is ‘on hold’ at the moment while we make up our mind. price was just over $4k (NZ) including beverage package and basic wi-fi This is a very good price - considering our 2018 celebrity cruise was about $7k (NZ). if we confirm it we will have 1001 questions
  8. thanks - I hadn't factored that in a quick google check tells me there are no school holidays in Australia until April so end of February into March should be ok
  9. thanks - we're both double vaccinated and boosted, but still managed to get covid.... it wasn't that nice for me and I'd hate to get it again
  10. thanks for that.... we're still thinking about this cruise, as we're both a bit nervous with the whole covid thing.... there was a ship in Australia recently (not sure if it was Princess) that had quite a few covid cases on board.
  11. thanks for the replies my other main question is - do Princess cruises cater for lots of children? reason I'm asking is we've only done 1 other cruise and that was on Celebrity Solstice in 2018 and although there were some children on the cruise they cater mainly for adults.... the last thing we want on a relaxing cruise holiday is to hear screaming kids running about the place.
  12. Hi - we are new to Princess cruises and are considering a cruise on Majestic Princess Feb 2023 from Sydney Australia (we're from New Zealand) if we book this cruise We'll probably have loads of questions, but my initial question is - the cruise has mid-ship rooms available on these decks, so what deck is the best out of these 3? 11 (Baja) 12 (Aloha) 15 (Marina) The available rooms they have on these floors are right by the lifts - so I'm not sure it that's a plus or if that will be noisy with people coming and going all the time thanks in advance
  13. Thanks for the replies.... we won’t be going through a TA as that was the mistake we made for our last cruise (that was cancelled) and they were woefully inadequate when it came to chasing up our refund... they kept telling us to be patient, but they weren’t proactive at all my wife did all the work calling celebrity cruises in the USA..... It has really put us off using a travel agent to be honest as I mentioned there are no cabins available mid ship near the central elevators, there’s a few nearer the front and some nearer the back thanks for the advice on the alcohol packages... I’ll look into it as far as I can remember the cruises ‘down under’ include gratuities in the fare
  14. Ok so this is my first post on here in nearly 2 years We were booked on Solstice to cruise from NZ to Fiji, Samoa, US Samoa, Tonga back to NZ on 1 April 2020 - but alas it was not to be...... It took us nearly 7 months to get a refund - I made several posts on here about the 'refund saga'.... We've not really been interested in looking at any cruises until recently.... now we've found one we like the look of in February 2023 on Eclipse the price is very good, but only they have limited cabins available (Verandah) now for a couple of questions 1) I'm sure last year? in an e-mail from celebrity they said that cruises were now all inclusive of (standard?) Alcohol.... but when I did a dummy booking last night it came up with a price for 'cruise only' and another price for 'all inclusive' (alcohol / wifi) the all inclusive price was about $1200 more than the 'cruise only price' We're not really interested in free wifi... can you just pay for the 'cruise only' then add just a classic alcohol package each? I didn't see an option to do that, but then again we didn't go right through with the booking to the payment side. The cruise is 9 nights, so I was wondering how much a classic beverage package each would be for 9 nights? 2) on our last cruise on Solstice in April 2018 we were midship on the 'hump' - the bit that juts out if that makes sense (room 9221) all the rooms on Eclipse seem to be differently numbered and the only verandah rooms available were nearer the front of the ship or near the back of the ship. My wife has some walking difficulties (Arthritis in her knees) so would it be better to be near the back of the ship closer to the lifts to go to the oceanview cafe or nearer the front of the ship closer to the main dining room? also I assume Eclipse is pretty much a 'mirror image' of Solstice? if there are any noticable differences can someone please let me know what they are, and if there have been any other significant changes to cruising since the pandemic? (e.g. wearing masks on board, no self service at the buffet) thanks in advance
