  1. I too am having problems deciding what excursions to do - there is not enough detailed information on the website about the excursion - such as the exact times.... we are being tendered in to 3 ports on our cruise and one excursion says it starts at 0930 - but is that the time you need to be ready to leave the ship or is that the time the excursion starts once you are on shore?

    it's quite confusing really

  2. To the original question "Why Chair Hog Bullies Proliferate?" Because they can. I don't feel other guests should take it upon themselves to be the the chair police, for many reasons. It should be the cruise line employees (for all rule enforcement really).

If they started seriously enforcing it, it would drop dramatically. Remove items from the pool area and then let them try to sort it out at the end of the cruise in a dark hallway with "you're so vain" playing in the background.

I agree - every morning there should be 1 or 2 crew members outside at the pool area and if they see someone put a towel or other item(s) on the loungers and try to walk away, they should stop them and say "excuse me madam / sir - you cannot leave items on the loungers unless you are using them now.... any items left unattended on the loungers for more than 30 minutes will be put in a 'lost property' bin" (or words to that effect)

There should be signs in the pool area saying "please do not leave items on the chairs / loungers unattended, as they will be removed"

the chairs / loungers are for everyone - not a select few who put stuff on them to 'bags' them for later

  3. This thread has lots of photos of the connecting vestibule. A picture's worth a thousand words:

thanks for that... it seems that having the interconnecting doors there wouldn't be as soundproof as it would be if it was a complete wall... I just hope the neighbours are quiet!

it's funny because I told my wife that our room layout means the bed is by the bathroom (which I prefer) and not next to the balcony - but she would like it by the balcony...

  4. It may not matter to you and you probably already know but in case you didn't realize it cabin 9221 is an interconnecting cabin. It matters to some.

I didn't know that either... but I'm sure the doors between the cabins will be locked... I'd hate the people next door being able to here what we get up to in our cabin and vice versa :halo:

  5. C1. C2 and C3 are the same, only difference is location on the ship.

9221 is not concierge class it's a 1B at hump deck 9 port side, bed by the bathroom also has a sofa-bed and a Pullman27545084_2032262083683252_4771702726537024378_n.jpg?oh=a086360e4cb65e0b7990abfa5a13917a&oe=5ADAC2E4

Thanks for that - yes we did know it wasn't a concierge cabin... I just saw a post about C1, C2...etc... and wondered what it meant

Wife thinks 9221 is in a good location... we are really looking forward to our cruise :D

  6. Hi - we are on Solstice in March / April and I've seen some posts about room category C1, C2...etc... what does this mean and how to I find out what our room is?

We are in stateroom 9221 and I don't know the room configuration - e.g. is the bed near the bathroom or near the balcony

any information would be appreciated :D

  7. thanks for that - we are not elite or aqua class cruisers, can we visit all the bars on Solstice, or are some just for elite / aqua guests?

the sunset bar sounds good - I assume that's for anyone on board?

is it possible to walk around most of the ship in 1-2 hours? on boarding day I would like to familiarize myself where everything is on the ship

  8. just came across this thread - we are new to Celebrity and will be on our first cruise on March / April leaving Sydney (Aus) going up to the Great Barrier Reef and back. This will be our first ever cruise.

does anyone know what shows will be on Solstice 30 March - 11 April? and do they have live bands (with drums) we can listen to on the ship. I love a good live band

I know there are so many different bars on the ship it will be hard to visit them all!

also does anyone know when they send out the boarding information? is it the same time as the luggage tags?

I've been told that boarding is structured and they board by deck e.g. deck 12 at 11am, deck 11 at 11:30am.....etc...

I don't want to turn up at the passenger terminal in Sydney early only to find our deck (deck 9) isn't due to board for another hour.

  9. We are on Solstice in March / April leaving Sydney going to the Great Barrier Reef and back over 12 nights, it's our first ever cruise and we are getting super excited.

on our cruise there are 3 ports where we will be docked out to sea and tendered into shore on smaller boats. (Airlie Beach, Cairns and Port Douglas)

My question is if we choose not to do a tour at a port and walk around and explore the port / town by ourselves, can we just walk back to the Tender point and get a boat back to the ship at any time? or will they wait until there are enough people to fill the tender boat before it goes back to the ship? or are they on a time schedule? - e.g they leave on the hour

what if we are docked for a whole day and we choose to do a 1/2 day tour - do we have to wait at the tender point, or can we go back to the ship if there is a boat waiting?

The weather will be very warm in April and the last thing Wife & I want to do is sit or stand in the hot humid sun for hours waiting for a tender boat to take us back to the ship

does anyone know how the tender boat system works for getting back on the ship?

    thanks in advance

  10. There should be blue text link ‘add special occasion details’ right after Celebrations that when clicked allows you to add any noteworthy celebrations such as Anniversary. I suspect it just becomes a part of your file for Your butler or steward and probably does not guarantee anything noteworthy. We are celebrating our anniversary and added that note. Will see if anything transpires from it.

Sent from my iPad using Forums

no - it just says 'celebrations' in normal black text...

  11. well we are on solstice on March / April and I've been reading up a lot about 'chair hogs' on this forum

if wife & I go to the pool area and find many chairs with towels on and no-one sitting on them, I will ask the next people if anyone has been on the chairs in the last hour and if the say no-ones been on those chairs I will move the towels off so wife & I can use them.

  12. ok thanks for the replies..... I might contact celebrity or our travel agent and see if they can do anything

someone said on an earlier thread last year that we should contact celebrity to let them know it's wife's birthday....

hopefully their contact details are on their website :-)

  13. Just checking our reservation for our cruise and under Add-Ons it says Celebrations

I was going to sneakily ask the travel agent to let Celebrity know this is a special cruise (our first) for my wife's 50th birthday, but I think my wife might have beaten me to it.

Does 'Celebrations' means that Celebrity already know about my wife's birthday?

  14. I just completed our online check in for our March 30 Cruise last night and have a question.

when I got to the section about expenses... there were only 2 options

Credit card or Cash account..... there was no option to select On Board Credit (I selected Cash account)

We would like any extra expenses to come out of our OBC... is there some way we can ensure this will happen?

    thanks in advance

  15. Those are two beers I seldom touch. Both of those beers get "skunky" smelling very quickly. Ok when fresh but if they get even a little warm in storage they develop a skunky smell. With all those great beers down there why on earth drink Corona. Have a Tui!;)

Well apart from Budwieser - those are the only other 2 beers I've heard of... I personally don't like Bud.

I will probably try most of the different beers while on the 12 night cruise.... can you recommend one on the CBP that is like a larger / pilsner / pale ale?

I'd hate to order a beer only to find it is a dark beer or something unusual or horrible tasting like Guiness :D:D

  16. Hi, Unfortunately our itinerary is slightly different. We arrive at Cairns at 9am and leave at 6pm. Reef Sprinter have half day excursions leaving at 8am and 1.30pm till 5pm which both wont work with the ships departure. Thanks for your help anyway.

Reef Sprinter operate from Port Douglas - we are on this cruise and itinerary is EXACTLY the same as we are on the SAME ship - Celebrity Solstice. There is no way you can have a different itinerary to us

The Ship spends 2 days at Cairns - day 1 it arrives at 10am and day 2 it departs at 7pm. After Cairns it then goes to Port Douglas, where we spend the whole day from 7am - 7pm

Reef Sprinter operate from Port Douglas and if you look at their schedule / tour times, they work in well with our arrival / departure from Port Douglas

    I hope this helps
