  1. I asked this already but no one answered so I am asking one more time....  how is the thermal suite on the Allure of the seas? I was thinking about buying a pass but wasn't sure if it was worth it or not.... first time on Allure... does anyone know?

If you are asking about tipping on the ship, USD.  If you are asking about spending money in the city, not everyplace will take USD for purchases, so Euros or credit card. But I suppose if you are just asking about tips, not purchases, anything would be accepted - just remember they have to go to the bank to make the conversion.

thank you for this info... I think its just for tips

  3. do they take US dollars in Greece? or do you need euros? asking for a friend -- they just want to know so they tip according to what they take..

  4. I booked Allure of the Seas recently and since the cruise is within 45 days, was told that I had to take My time dining .. they said MDR was fully booked ... problem is I eat at 530 (diabetes) but all My time has available is 8 and later. I can do the buffet I guess but I liked the idea of MDR. I called and was told the same thing -fully booked... Does anyone have any helpful suggestion about this?

Going to AC today, staying at Caesars but having dinner at Hardrock. Then going again for Thanksgiving and was able to get enough comped rooms at Tropicana and Hard Rock to invite the whole family. Thanksgiving dinner will be at The palms Steakhouse in Tropicana.

Good to hear from you -have fun in AC... that is awesome your whole family can get together for Thanksgiving. I'd like to hear how dinner at the Palms was... Happy Thanksgiving!

  6. @UKstages

I read everything that you wrote and I think the only reason you got the sleeping room and could keep your other room was for 2 reasons 1) you contacted Miami and 2) you mentioned revenue and they looked it up.

The fiasco with security when you finally could sleep in the sleeping room was unbelievable.

Actually, this whole situation would make for a comedy movie (not that it was funny to you missing all that sleep!)

When I heard the recording of the noise in that room - it was not just annoying but it was scary!

The most amazing thing to me was how calm you remained while trying to talk to people who should have immediately reconciled your problem.

You have such a talent for writing - I agree with the person that suggested you write a book---hmmm, maybe you are an author already.

cabins these days tend to be ready between 2 and 3:30, depending ion a host of factors. higher decks are often ready earlier, as are haven and suites. there is usually a place where you can drop your carry on bags and pick them up once cabins are ready. i haven't sailed the viva, but on the prima, its sister ship, bag drop was in the improv.

Hello Friend - not sure you remember me (IamNancy) but I was wondering what you thought of the Prima... we were on that ship in February...

  8. I have always embarked on Port Canaveral but now have a chance to use either the port at Tampa or Ft Lauderdale - never saw either. Does anyone know which is easier to get in and out of? If you have been on both, which would you want to go back to?

The refreshment package includes bottled water, sodas, and non-alcoholic blended drinks on the island (try the virgin peach daiquiri, it's delish!).

As others have stated, there is a small electric-powered shuttle (like an oversized golf cart) that will take you from the ship, down the pier, and to the main tram station on the island.

At the tram station, you can get on the larger trams (like an open bus) that will make a C-shaped loop around the island.  The large tram will stop at the smaller tram stations at South Beach, Coco Cay Beach Club, Breezy Bay / Oasis Lagoon, Chill Island, and then turn around and go back past Breezy Bay / Oasis Lagoon, then the Up, Up, and Away Balloon, and then return to the main tram station.

From the main tram station, you can then either walk back to the ship, or wait for one of the smaller electric shuttles to take you back.

Make sure you keep your SeaPass card handy on the way back to the ship -- you have to show it to Security on the pier before being allowed through (both for walkers and for riders), and then you have to show it again as you enter the ship.

thank you for this informative post... btw-is there a fee for the tram?

    No (if you're young)

Yes, if you're old like me (but I still walk it. LOL)

They have shuttles to take you all around the island. It might be a good idea to ride it all the way around first before you choose a place. It's quite large. No problem getting 10,000 steps in if that's your thing.

oh no.... I am old and probably can't walk that far... is there a shuttle between the ship and the island?

  12. this will be the first time I will be at Coco Cay and I am really looking forward to it... I do live in Florida and have the beach and pool but I expect this to be a different type of beach...We may only stay there a short while but I just don't want to miss it. We don't have the drink package but do have the refresher package so I am guessing we can have water or soda. Is the walk far from the ship?

The balcony is deeper. The bed is near the closet.

I especially thank you as you pointed out the small balcony.... also there were only 2 aft cabins available -this one and one on the 14th deck..

    Not in this case.....

....13308/13908 on Escape has a small aft-facing balcony.....

More information on Escape aft-facing balcony staterooms in the following thread....

wish I had asked this before I booked -- I will look at seeing if there is anyway I can change decks... thanks so much for the information
