  1. Too bad it's not really "free", just another marketing tactic.

Its all about how you book and cabin arrangement.

For Example (Harmony of the Seas March 10, 2019 Sailing):

A family of 4 (2 kids) can sail in a boardwalk balcony for $2942.

A family of 4 (4 Adults) can sail in the same balcony for $4712.

A family of 4 (Any) can sail in two boardwalk balconies for $5020.

So if you were traveling with 4 adults (13+) it would make sense to split up the rooms for the $312 extra dollars. The same split is $2078 more for the family with 2 kids.

Kids sail free does make it much cheaper in this arrangement.

  2. Looking for some help here.

Background: I just booked cabin 11136 for my family of 4 (kids will be 7 and 10) for the June 28th 2019 sailing. We are traveling with my parents who are in the connecting cabin next door, 11138. First off, depending on pricing we either travel in 2 x 2 x 2 or 3 x 3 configurations but for some reason on the Quantum class ships there are no higher occupancy balconies (3+ people) with connecting cabins of the same size. All higher occupancy cabins are always connected with a 2 occupancy cabin. At least that is what all me research has shown. The 2 x 2 x 2 cabin option was cost prohibitive since the kids travel for $500 each not the $1700 each for adults (not including taxes).

Question: Since we have connecting rooms can we ask the cabin steward to not pull out the sofa bed in room 11136 and just make it up as is? And also make up the couch (not a pull out sofa) in the connecting room into a little bed for my other child?

Our mission is to not have to worry about having to have the sofa pulled out and put back sofa each day.

    Thank you for the help.

  3. I called on Sunday and said "I would like to purchase a deluxe package for myself and a refreshment package for my wife who doesn't drink." Rep said "sure thing I can get that taken care of right away."

They took my cc and I got an email a few minutes later. Simple as that. Caught a buy one get one 50% on deluxe package (which is 25 percent off one) and a 30% off refreshment. Ended up being the same price for both of us as it was for buying it just for my self on the ship (which they let me due on Allure in March).

This was my second time calling with no problem.

  4. I will have to agree with macfin, although I think the Q Class feels more crowded then Oasis or Freedom class there is no comparison on how crowded I feel on Carnival Ships so it is all relative.

Also, for those who complain about the crowds in Windjammer don't get near Dream class Carnival ships. I thought I was going to lose it after day 2, buffet islands are the answer.

The Windjammer on Anthem although seating could be limited (No matter what time I could find seats in the Aft) the serving areas moved fast and was very manageable.

I also remember some folks saying the hand washing stations looked grimey. I did a little investigation, most of what i thought was grime was actually designs in the surface even inside the sinks. Just a bad choice of design. It was pretty clean for a 1000 people going through in a meal.

  5. We were on the June 14th sailing and the Escape Room is in fuel on Deck 15 port next to the Seaplex. It shows up as an option on IQ app but I never could find any openings. We just went to the room at a scheduled time and folks didn't show so we took their spot.

I agree, we could always find chairs on Deck 15 you just won't be by any of the action and will have to get up for drinks. A good spot for me was right in he corner off the Northstar bar on 15. Easy access to bar and there is some extra room so people are not walking on top of you.

No ten drink cards. Alchohol sales seemed to be booming so no need for them. It seemed like half the ship had a drink package, including myself.

I enjoy beer at the pools and will say they did a great job with pop up stands in a lot of places on deck 14. Very easy to get beer and water in about 15 seconds with no lines.

  6. I forgot to mention we did too get frustrated with the MTD setup. One line would seat 10 groups for the others one. We found the magic time was about 5:50pm and to ask for the same table every night.

For our situation they would sit most of the section at 5 so when we got there the other folks were getting main courses allowing for a good flow on our dinner. Also, be vocal (I am always polite) about your service to head waiter the first nights if you experience service not to your liking. I gurantee you they make note.

Ning, our assistant waitress, was awesome as she did whatever she could to make our meal great even finding a few bottles of Blue Moon as all the bartenders told me they were all out ship wide.

We found the meals to be good some days and not great some days (they get me everytime with the fried chicken smh) but we never went hungry!! I thought the Italian dishes they served were very good, and I am always entriqued by the pork tacos.

Bar service was excellent! Especially in Schooner. Those guys work hard! But it seemed like every staff member was happy to be there, great attitude by everyone and those are the guys who make the trip. It doesn't matter how great the ship is.

  7. Great review!! We too enjoyed our time. I also thought the Windjammer was always easy to access even with the masses there. Its the food islands I tell you! Carnival can learn from RCCL.

I too thought the activites had weird times, were not consistent, started late, ran out of paper for triva on numerous occasions (I mean come on bring a stack of 200 papers you know you can use them next time), and Karaoke was just a mess. They would schedule it for 45 mins, start signups most of the time late, spent 10-15 mins to do that leaving less than 30 mins for singing (which if you were there may have been a good thing for this cruise :) ). I did think most of the CD staff tried hard, Martin tried way too hard and at times just came across as arrogant but may just be his personality, he definitely tried hard at his job.

The CD Dennis is a long time veteran on RCCL and did a good job but but lacked some of the fire from the younger guys, but he did a good job. Tornado Tonya would make a good CD.

You can use the freestyle machines to get water and ice without a special cup. But I did miss getting speciality coffee late from Cafe Promenade as there was only regular coffee available after 11pm or so from the cafe. You should have come when I got pizza, I never waited in line more than 2 minutes, but also didn't go there after a show let out. The pizza was great as well and they kept it coming.

  8. Here is a picture of the starboard side exit of the theater. There is no exit to the left of the picture. Going through the elevator lobby puts you into the top deck of the music hall which is a maze of tables to get out in addition the elevator lobby will be clogged. To go through the Esplanade you have to weave your way through two protruding stair cases or go up just to get hit again with top deck theater exit. Just an example of how narrow and congested the ship can get. Imagine 700 people exiting.20180622_215520.thumb.jpg.2fa81e18672be6ad6c70d1b609a8accd.jpg

  9. It depends on bookings. They were offering 30percent off this last sailing on Anthem starting day 5 out of 9. I am assuming they weren't hitting targets. And $50 off any massage starting embarkation day. We booked before hand and saved about 30percent but that's only because we chose the cheapest times, best times were still full price. So if you dont care when your service is you can pretty much either get the same price or better price onboard. Port days will definitely save.
