You really do need to adjust your expectations.  You do realize what’s been happening the past few months to the cruise industry?   I guess I’m just surprised when people think the world revolves around them and their needs.

I agree.  A two hour wait is unacceptable.

  2. What soft drink brands are included in the Classic Bev. Program?

It is confusing when they list Coke products in the Premium Program.

So makes one wonder what brand (brands) are avail to Classic Bev. participants

    Thank you,

    Henry

  3. Have never sailed on an M class ships but considering the Constellation for sometime in 2021.  I have looked on line and in their brochure and can not determine if there is a mini-fridge and safe in the cabin.  Looking at Balcony or Concierge Class accommodations.

    Thank you,

    Henry

We are preparing for a return cruise to Alaska.  Our first one, and indeed, our first cruise was up the Inside Passage in 1997.  I was looking through our scrapbook and found our original ticket stub.  We sailed on the Sky Princess and had a tiny little porthole cabin on Deck 4, I believe, although it may have been 6.  It was right at the water line.  Anyhow, a ten day cruise round trip from San Francisco cost us $3,642.  Back then, it seemed a huge amount.  Looking at the ship pictures, it was obvious that it isn't just the prices that have changed.  I sort of miss those days of dressing up and mingling over cocktails with table mates.  Now we are Elite and everything has changed.   I remember fighting for space in the rec room - damn bridge players kept taking apart our puzzles, dancing with a very affectionate shower curtain and having an 'unbirthday' party one night at the table...  Those were giddy times...

I hope my fellow cruisers look back upon their first cruises with equal nostalgia

Yes we do have fond  memories  of the old Sky.  Best cruise food we have had.  All depends on the chef and we had the best.  Can not remember his name but he was Italian along with most of the dining room staff.  Loved the Italians.

Originally booked a mini-suite.  Took the upsell to a full back of the ship suite on Baja deck Aft.  We have sailed in this suite before and it's fabulous!  Huge wrap a round balcony is what we live for.  Some mornings soot some mornings not.

First night we ate at the Crown grill because it was free.  We got what we paid for.  Meat was not cooked how we ordered but the sides and the wine were good!

Speaking of food, at home husband and I are low/no carb eaters.  On vacation carbs do not count (doh!) so therefore I think the food was quite tasty especially the curries.

Went to the $25 wine tasting.  We were not impressed.  Pours were skimpy.  That being said, when we tried to order a bottle of one of the wines we had tasted for dinner we were told they had no more.  Why have you taste wines that they don't keep in stock?!

Went to the $40 wine tasting dinner and loved it!!  Copious amounts off food and wine and such a friendly group of people.  It was help in a beautiful section on the dining room.

Had dinner one night at the Ocean Terrace.  Yummo!  Tried to order a bottle of wine and waiter kept on coming back and saying they were out of whatever bottle we had just ordered.  Finally got a bottle.

Drink service was super duper fast at both the Wheel house and Crooners and around the pools.  Cocktail servers were very friendly.

AJ Clarke is a Princess treasure!  He was performing in Crooners and also did a show in the Vista lounge.  So personable and what a talent!  He plays the piano and sings beautifully.

Also had the ultimate balcony breakfast because it was complimentary.  Man do they bring a lot of food and a half bottle of champagne.

Never went to Sabitinis for breakfast as we had the huge balcony and quite frankly do not enjoy the atmosphere.

Any questions I'll be happy to answer.

Thanks for the recap.  We board on Jan 6.

Going on Royal Princess cruise in early January and this is only the third cruise I have ever been on.  Wondering if the premium beverage package makes any sense or not.  I certainly like to indulge in some adult beverages when on vacation but nothing over the top.  Wonder if the $60+ per day per person makes any sense or if you are better off just paying as you go.  Are sodas, coffee etc included in the meals you have or do you have to pay for those separately as well?

Appreciate any feedback you can offer my question and wish everyone a happy holiday.

Just returned from Regal Princess and was not happy.  The dinner times changed from 5:30 to 4:45 then I changed them to 7:15 only to get onboard to find them changed to 7:45.  Took one hour waiting to change time back to 5:30

The menus are smaller than a few months ago and the food is getting worse.

The last night I went to guest services to see my bill to make sure it was ok, then the following morning  I received a bill with drinks added.  Went to guest services to have the charges removed and they would not remove them, said I ordered drinks.  We had the drink package and had to argue with them.  They finally removed the charges..  This happened 6 months ago when I was on princess but did not check it until back home.  Called princess, same story, finally removed and credited my account 2 months later.  Watch your bill

Thanks for the heads up on the drinks.  Sorry you had such a bad experience.

    Thanks for posting the menus!

One menu listing the Mains appear to be an "Italian Night" dinner menu.  Was this "event" made known to the guests prior to arriving in the dining room?  (I'd have a difficult time of selecting which entree to order.  The days of ordering more than one are long past!)

I was on Regal in 2017 and there was no limit on ordering anything you wanted.  Some of our table mates ordered two entrees several times.  My wife and I ordered a third entree one evening and split it.  No problem.  When did you experience not being able to order whatever you wanted?

  9. Formal night dining is held in all the Main Dining Rooms aboard the ship on those nights designated "Formal Dining".  Most people dress up for the occasion.

Do not know about the wine question.  I'm sure you will get good advice from members of C.C.

Have a great time on your first cruise.

Thank you for posting.  Noticed the Late Traditional Dining is at 7:45 P.M.   Hope this is indeed the case when we sail on Jan 6, 2019.   Interesting that I just got an email from Princess stating our dining time is confirmed for Late. T.D. at 7:15 P.M.

Looking forward to the shows that are listed in the weekly plan for the Princess Theater.

Because it's their vacation to choose clothing that make them feel comfortable and not dress up to please other people.

Us women get away with anything in the dining room all the time & the guys have to conform to wearing a Jacket & tie?

    That's just not right.

It's about time everyone is given a choice to dress as they feel appropriate for dinner as long as it's not totally rebellious and just because they don't have on a jacket & tie doesn't make it terrible.

Really,  just leave it up to the passenger to decide what is appropriate??  Don't think so.  Jackets and ties are not required on non formal nights.  Is it too much to ask for guys to put on some dockers and a polo shirt for the MDR?

I had anytime dining so I'm not positive about the traditional dining times, but I believe they were changed and start earlier now (5:00).  The shows are at 8 and 10pm in the Princess Theater.  The Medallion program was only working in small amount of rooms, but there were people onboard working on them.  From what I heard they are trying to work as fast as they can to get it up and running.  Hopefully all will be Medallion ready by your sailing.

    Thank you for the info.
