  1. There is no comparison of the two type of ships. The World is only for multi millionaires and for most the cost is prohibitive. Plus, the World has very little in common with a cruise ship. There are no production shows or daily entertainment. It's like saying I live in a little studio beach cottage or a mansion. Like comparing apples and oranges. Totally different atmosphere.

...and The World has restaurants where you pay for all your meals....there are no meals included on The World.

  2. Pam, I got off this past Saturday from the Sapphire Princess Alaska Cruise and my waiter over hear me talking about Ms. Lorraine and my waiter mention that Ms. Lorraine was on the Sapphire Princess about a month ago for about 10 days, and she hasn't been doing well. Health wise that is.

We were on the 28 day October 2011 Sapphire to Hawaii, Samoa and Tahiti and she was aboard. She sat at the table next to us at late dining seating. She go off at Honolulu which was about 7 days into the cruise.

  3. That's not quite right.... on the Emerald/Ruby/Crown/Caribbean Princesses, the bridge wings are accessible through doors forward on Lido deck (deck 15). On all the other Grand-class vessels, the bridge wings are accessible by going forward outside on Sun deck (deck 15).

You are correct......I forgot to account for the extra deck on Emerald/Ruby/Crown/Caribbean Princesses which puts the Sun Deck one deck higher......;)

  4. I have looked through most of the posts on this board including the huge thread about "first cruises" and while I can find photos of the Sun Princess in other colours (before and after she was part of P&O) I can't seem to find any good photos of her as a Princess.

I sailed on her, in the 70's out of San Juan and would love to have photos of her. I would really appreciate any that you would be willing to share with me. At this point I only have about 3 "acceptable" photos of her but would love anything anyone would provide.

    Thanks a million in advance.

This is a great website that has lots of photos of old ships, including Sun Princess

  5. Costa always is at anchor in the old port located just at the old town entrance and you will be tendered. Your ship is only in town from 1200 until 1700, so your time is limited to the afternoon.

We were in Dubrovnick last May and below is a photo I took with a Costa ship anchored off the old city. The passengers were tendered to the old town harbor. This is a photo I took while we were on the wall.

  6. I'll chime in.....

My DH is 6'4" and works out daily. He is a trim "big guy". His coat size is a 50 extra long. Between the suit coat, suit pants, dress shirts, ties, belt, fancy socks and SIZE 13 dress shoes, his suitcase is then HALF FULL with clothes he'll wear for just a few hours (and that is the part he hates!) :o

....this is me.....except I am size 12 shoes. So the only extra thing I take is the jacket.....to wear with regualr pants, shirts and shoes I can wear other nights. Since we are Princess Elite passengers, we also get free laundry, so I can get the stuff cleaned for other nights.

  7. Lovely photo, you were on Mt. Srd (sur-ge) when you took this shot. The cable car, which was destroyed during the Homeland war, is now being repared. Unfortunately it will not yet be running until July at the earliest, your trip will be too early to utilize this new (old) service. The view from the top of the mountain is my favorite, it is where I lost my soul to this town way back in 1971. Do enjoy your time in Dubrovnik again.

I was delighted to hear the cable car is being repaired, it was certainly a great view from the mountain. The boat leaving the harbor in my photo is a tender going to a second ship that was anchored just out of the photo, a Royal Viking ship. They must have had a fantastic view of the surrounding area and city from the ship. We were docked at the harbor to the north. We walked the wall our second trip in 1990 (on the Golden Odyssey) and I think we will do it again this May.

We visited Split last July on the Royal Princess and enjoyed it .....but Dubrovnik is special and is one of our favorite ports.
